Eliciting Preferences for Micro Health Insurance in Rural Cambodia: A Discrete Choice Experiment
Get PDFThe objective of our study is to evaluate the demand for different attributes of micro health insurance（MHI） and identify which MHI is more acceptable in Cambodia, where 40% of the population is relatively poor and not covered under any health insurance scheme. To that end, we estimate the “willingness-to-pay” （WTP） for the different attributes, by employing the Discrete Choice Experiments.
To pinpoint alternative MHI schemes that might induce customers to purchase insurance, we designed alternative attributes that include treatment of chronic diseases and dental surgery and glasses, treatment in private clinics, and an improved management and monitoring system. We then evaluated the WTP for these improved attributes of the MHI scheme by applying mixed logit model, and examined the cost performance of the scheme.
The results suggest that if we add the services in national hospital, and private clinic, the services for chronic diseases, dental surgery and glasses, and the improvement of meeting & monitoring methods to the previous MHI scheme, WTP of potential insurance customers is over the costs. The Question of Reintegration for the Independence of Former Indonesian Migrant Workers
Get PDFSuccessful reintegration back to home country is often key to breaking the cycle of work migration. Yet little is known about conditions and factors that facilitate migrant-returnees to achieve economic independence and reintegrate into their own societies. Using research findings on initiatives in Java to render work for former migrants in the food, and the agriculture, this article considers organizational factors behind the reintegration process. It shows how sustainable reintegration is a social process requiring not only the self-determination of former migrants but also organizational support from NGO activists. An arising question is on how successful local initiatives can pose lessons for wider migrant reintegration in Indonesia.departmental bulletin pape

The aim of our research is to provide a complete translation and annotation of it from the viewpoint of our previous work on “The Nine Chapters on the Mathematical Art （九章算術）.”
