A Study on the Process of Snow adhering to the Railway Vehicle Lower Part, running in a Heavy Snow Region
In the winter, a large amount of snow sometimes adheres to the railway vehicle lower part, running in a heavy snow region of Japan. Preventive measures on the vehicle against it are expected and have been studied, but enough effects are not provided until now. It is thought that the more effective measures can be realized by clarifying the process and mechanism of a large amount of snow adhering.
In this study, as the first step for the elucidation, I considered a model of snow accretion process, based on the results of snowfall wind tunnel tests that had been performed so far, and from the result, I suggested the simulation techniques of the basic process of a large amount of snow adhering, described by the simple numerical expression and algorithm. Then I carried out the simulation that applied the technique, and verified the validity of it by comparing with the results of tests.departmental bulletin pape
Effect of Low Temperature Annealing on Fatigue Lifetime in Partially Stabilized Zirconia
It is known that the fracture strength was degraded by annealing at low temperature in the neighborhood of 200℃ in yttria doped tetragonal zirconia polycrystals(TZP)and the degradation is caused by the formation of microcracks accompanied with the tetragonal to monoclinic phase transformation. On the other hand, it is expected that the fatigue life-time would increase by the occurrences of microcracks in the neighborhood of main crack. In this study we take a notice of the effect on fatigue life-time of low temperature annealing. Firstly, the degree of tetragonal-to-monoclinic phase transformation were examined by X-ray diffraction for the specimens annealed with various aging times of 20 h to 80 h at respective temperatures of 200℃ and 300℃. Next, the life-times in the cyclic fatigue with a low cyclic load were examined for the specimens annealed by the above method. As the result, it was found that the maximum in the amount of the phase transformation occurred at aging times 40 h in both annealing temperatures and the fatigue life-time somewhat increased with the amount of the phase transformation in the case of 200℃ annealing.departmental bulletin pape
Verifying Learning Results of Hybrid Lessons for Gymnastics
We surveyed the effectiveness of hybrid classes for learning. These online lectures combined with face-to-face instruction were introduced due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection.
In the cases of simultaneous interactive online lectures, students accomplished easy exercise tasks and achievements appeared in the acquisition of these tasks.
But, ①Acquiring relatively difficult techniques, and ②Understanding the properties of mat movement, our data shows that the learning results of face-to-face lectures were significantly higher than simultaneous interactive online lectures.
It is conceivable that the learning of easy exercise tasks and acquisition of knowledge can be mastered through simultaneous interactive online lectures. However, it was suggested that learning outcomes were low in terms of mastering tasks and learning developmental content.
departmental bulletin pape
Does Toe Grip Strength Affect 100-meter Sprint Time?: Focusing on Elementary School Age Track and Field Athletes
Background and aim: The relationship between toe grip strength (TGS) and 100-meter sprint time (100-m) of elementary school age track and field athletes are not well known, although the TGS is thought to affect sprint performance. Therefore, we aimed to examine relationship between the TGS and the 100-m on elementary school age track and field athletes. Methods: Thirteen boys (10.2±0.4yrs.) and eleven girls( 9.6±0.5yrs.) participated in the study. All subjects were healthy and did not have any history of orthopedic disease. The TGS was measured using the toe grip dynamometer II (TKK3364) manufactured by Takei Scientific Instruments Co., Ltd. The 100-m stands for the official record, which was marked at most a month before the TGS measurement. Correlations between the TGS and the 100-m were analyzed by Pearson’s correlation coefficient. Probability values less than 0.05 level were considered to be statistically significant. Results: According to the Pearson’s correlation coefficients, the TGS and the TGS/Wt. of boys were significantly correlated with the 100-m (p=0.003, p=0.002). As for girls, the TGS and the TGS/Wt. were also significantly correlated with the 100-m (p=0.007, p=0.014). Conclusion: Based on the results, it can be concluded that the strength of foot and ankle muscles may affect the 100-meter sprint time of elementary school age track and field athletes. departmental bulletin pape
An Online “Group Work” Practicum: Creating a Multilingual Action Verb Dictionary in Keynote
We examined how students created a multilingual action verb dictionary using the sharing function of Keynote. The class sampled was “Research Literacy 2” (a study skills seminar for 2nd year students) offered in the second semester of 2020. The twenty-three students enrolled in the class conducted a literature review and created a verb dictionary. In the last class, they were asked to evaluate their results and complete a questionnaire, submitted on Google Forms. Overall, students indicated
“group work” was ‘interesting’ and ‘enjoyable,’ ‘useful,’ ‘achieved goals,’ ‘not boring,’ able to ‘take it seriously,’ they tried ‘not to be absent,’ made efforts to ‘improve group atmosphere,’ and able to fully ‘understand group work content.’ In addition, a significant correlation was confirmed between the level of interest in group work and the enjoyment of group work. We suggest the importance of “group work” in online classes, and the necessity of taking advantage of this learning format in both online and face-to-face class situations.departmental bulletin pape
Generating Conflicts and Needs in Inclusive Education Practices
In this paper, I clarify the relationship between “conflicts” and “needs” in the context of inclusive education practice. Specifically, I attempt to describe the process of identifying the needs of blind children using data from their “teacher-parent message journals” and the mother’s narratives on the topic of caring for blind children enrolled in regular schools.
My analysis reveals that the needs of children with disabilities are not determined in advance; instead, the needs are generated through interaction with others at the school setting. Rather, these needs are generated through activities between the actors, including their parents.
The data shows mothers and teachers maintain a relationship through dialog, filling the gaps in perception or suppressing their own arguments to some extent. By overcoming conflict situations on a case-by-case basis, they may have built relationships that are open to “freedom from conflict,” in other words, relationships allowing dialogues to be initiated at any time when need arises, and the ability to maintain these relationships.departmental bulletin pape
