Full text linkThe paper is an attempt to interpret some of the most frequently used paradigms and syntagms belonging to the European discourse since Romania joined the European Union against the background of cultural postmodernism. The process of communication, that is of encoding and decoding messages, circumscribes, on the one hand, a type of two-way journey (from European authoritative institutions to a local individual and from the latter back to European heights) and, on the other hand, the awareness of a double citizenship mentality (both Romanian and European)

As an investigative tool, this method of crime scene approach may provide useful information in serious crimes management,including homicide, rape, arson or burglary. Based on crime scene data and personality theories, profiling may be seen as a deductive inferring process which can help police officers to apprehend a serial offender. Although in most modern police agencies the use of criminal profiling is mandatory, Romanian police has his first step in it. This article will provide the general principles of the method

Full text linkThis paper deals with two perspectives on social constructionism, namely the cognitive and the semio-pragmatic approaches. Starting from different theoretical background (Searle, 2000; Peirce, 1990; Lakoff, 1987; Fauconnier, Turner, 2002), we consider that language is a very important aspect that should be considered within social constructionisn. Institutional facts have a performative aspect and they establigh power relations within the process of shaping organizational realities. Subjectivity, that social constructivism is accused of, cannot be contested as long as human beings mould the systemic patterns according to the contexts they interact with
Fair Value Considerations during the Current Financial Crisis
Full text linkIn current economic conditions, accounting applications seem to face new and complex challenges. Especially, these challenges are on the basis of fair value. Recent crisis has highlighted the complexity and difficulty of valuing financial instruments when market information is not available ornot sufficient to give better economic decisions. FASB 157 "Fair Value Accounting" became effective by January 1, 2008 for most U.S. companies and some believe that this caused the problem. Oppositely, a wider group of interested parties and investors believe that fair value increases transparency and give relevant information for decision making. Depending on the financial reporting framework and the going concern assumption, this paper investigates the process for determining fair value measurements and its in-depth effects in financial reports. Also, the paper will try to highlight the question: "Can fair value be really the main reason of the global financial crisis?" from the aspect of an accountingacademician
