Class of 2013 Capstone Research Presentations: Beauty in a Digital World. In the post-Facebook IPO world, and after the success of micro targeting in the 2012 Obama Presidential Campaign, the notion of “Digital” to consumer marketing has evolved. Not every brand needs to use every aspect of Social and Digital Media, and many are learning to reframe conversations and budgets around Digital strategy based on marketing objective, rather than commerce. Digital capabilities are also unlocking opportunities for both knowledge and cost savings in the marketing spend, notably for consumer interaction and enhanced market research opportunities, with access to data leading to more customized consumer communication and product offering. With this in mind, this year’s Capstone research is focused on “Beauty in a Digital World,” with the support of this year’s sponsors, Beiersdorf, and with Google as Research Partner
Remembering Elaine Stone
Professor Elaine Stone, long standing member of the Fashion Merchandising Management department, passed away on August 6, 2013. Professor Stone began teaching in the Fashion Buying and Merchandising and Continuing Education areas in 1977, served as the Acting Dean of Continuing Education for a time, and continued to teach in FMM, following her retirement in 2002, until very recently. Fashion Institute of Technology’s fourth annual pet apparel and accessories runway show, BARKinistas Unleashed. Approximately 12 canines will take to the dog walk to present about two dozen unique designs created by students in the FIT Center for Professional Studies’ Pet Product Design and Marketing professional development certificate program. As in previous years, the show is conceptualized, designed, and produced by FIT’s Advertising and Marketing Communications BS program’s fourth-year Special Events Marketing class. April 18, 2012

ARTSpeak is a project created by the Fine Arts department of the Fashion Institute of Technology.
