    Part presentation, part Q&A, FIT's "Faces & Places in Fashion" lecture series is an opportunity to connect students and the public alike to the pulse of the fashion industry in an open and conversational setting.David Wolfe, Creative Director of Doneger Design Direction, a division of the Doneger Group describes how fallout from the 2008/2009 economic crisis continues to effect fashion trends. A slide-show presentation shows colors and styles for Spring 2012 and Wolfe's commentary emphasized the need for designers to connect with consumers; the need for fashion to reflect consumers' interests and to return to real design. Wolfe predicts the end of trendiness and the end of movies influencing fashion. He says he can see the day when there will only be virtual fashion shows--that the planning and set-up of fashion runway events will become to expensive to be sustainable

Variety’s “Artisans up next” report has listed Ms. San Juan as a rising costume design star and Vogue has named her a leading talent in Costume Design.Her credit highlights include the HALSTON Miniseries for Netflix where Ms. San Juan’s costume design is central to a story spanning 4 decades of the famous fashion designer’s life and career, starring Ewan McGregor.In Baz Luhrmann’s THE GET DOWN, Ms. San Juan created vibrant costumes illustrating a 1970’s New York from early hip hop style to the glamour of Disco. As a young child she was trained in dressmaking by creating patterns out of newspaper and repurposing household textiles for materials. One of fashion’s greatest innovators, he radically altered the fashionable silhouette with designs such as the sack dress. He retired in 1968, and in 1997, Nicolas Ghesquière was hired as creative director of Balenciaga. Balenciaga’s work is characterized by a strong emphasis on three-dimensional form
