A Critical Engagement with the Concept of Child-Centerdness
Get PDFV prispevku analiziramo izbrana besedila iz zbornika Generaciji navidezne svobode: otroci in starši v sodobni družbi (2017), ki z vidika družbeno reprodukcijskih mehanizmov kritično prevprašujejo vzgojno zasnovo otrokocentričnosti, saj ta pomembno vpliva na družinsko vzgojo novih generacij otrok. Zanima nas, na katere vzgojne razsežnosti je v obravnavanih besedilih usmerjena kritika argumentacije. Na mestih, kjer na podlagi analize ugotavljamo, da zasnova in tudi njena kritika nista koherentno utemeljevani, opravimo dodatne premisleke. Pokažemo, da zasnova otrokocentričnosti pomembno zaznamuje pomensko polje vladajoče ideološke produkcije ter vodi k vzgoji posameznikov in posameznic, ki z osebnostno strukturo in usvojenimi funkcionalnimi rekviziti družbe obnavljajo in ohranjajo dominantna družbena razmerja.In the article we analyze selected set of texts from the collection Generaciji navidezne svobode: otroci in starši v sodobni družbi (2017), which from the perspective of socio-reproductive mechanisms critically question the educational concept of child-centeredness, as it significantly influences the family upbringing of new generations of children. We are interested in which educational dimensions the criticism is aimed at. In places where, based on the analysis, we find that the concept of child-centerdness and its criticism lack coherent substantiation, we provide additional reflections. We demonstrate that the concept of child-centeredness significantly marks the semantic field of the prevailing ideological production and leads to the upbringing of individuals who, with their personality structure and acquired functional requisites of society restore and maintain dominant social relations
Intelligent supportive system for people with profound intellectual and multiple disabilities
Get PDFPeople with profound intellectual and multiple disabilities (PIMD) are a vul-nerable and often marginalized group of people, commonly without the ability ofsymbolic communication. This makes expressing and recognizing their innerstate and desires challenging and requires in-depth knowledge and under-standing of each individual. Use of standard assistive technologies is thusinfeasible due to lack of personalization. This challenge is tackled by theINSENSION system—a novel intelligent decision support system leveraging state-of-the-art noninvasive audio-visual sensor technologies together with machinelearning algorithms and expert knowledge, to detect and interpret behaviors andcommunications (nonverbal signals—NVSs) of people with PIMD in challengingreal-world scenarios. The detection of NVSs supports caregivers and allows thepeople with PIMD a form of communication through a communicator application.Furthermore, the system enables them to control and adjust their environmentthrough a smart room and multimedia player. According to quantitative andqualitative evaluation, good recognition accuracy is achieved, and the systemempowers people with PIMD and increases their quality of life.RESEARCH ARTICLEwww.advintellsyst.comAdv.
