Comprehensive framework of sport events management
Sports events are the main part of the organizational culture of sport with an impact on the promotion of the environ-ment in which they take place and also deve-lop tourism and other economies. The impacts of major sports events are a direct or indirect result of their management and organization and can be negative or positive. In accordance with this, the purpose of this article is to pre-sent the comprehensive conceptual framework (model) of the sports events management. To design the research, we used the methodology of writing a conceptual paper and the method approach called "model paper" which seeks to build a theoretical framework that predicts re-lationships that provides a bridge or connec-tion between different concepts and scientific disciplines. The developed conceptual frame-work presented in thisarticle comprehensively coverstheissueof management of major sports events and takes into account the specifics or characteristics of this type of project. The mu-tual coherence and connectivity of threemo-dels(strategic management models, projectmanagement methodology, sports event mana-gement theory and practice) define the general management model of a major sport events which holistically covers the problem of mana-gement of large sports events and provides the user of the framework with direct guidance on activities and requirements formanaging of this type of projects
Carl Schmitt and Simone Weil
The paper is conceptualized on the premise that modern discourses on violence can be read within two fundamental paradigms: the paradigm of force (Simone Weil) and the paradigm of domination (Frankfurt School and its followers). While the first half of the 20th century can be viewed as the exemplification of force, after WWII we are instead faced with violence understood as domination. However, it seems that the 21st century begins with a return of force in a new form. The aim of the paper is to read Carl Schmitt’s political theology as an illustration and extension of Simone Weil’s analysis of force in “The Iliad, or the Poem of Force.” The essay is devoted to an analysis of Schmitt’s fundamental political-legal categories, such as sovereignty, decisionism, and friend–foe opposition as modern translations of force in Weil’s conceptualization: as invasions of brute force into the human order. The paper wishes to be not only an historical-philosophical analysis, but a contribution to the modern project of antifascist education, insofar as the modes of contemporary European authoritarianism (e.g., in Hungary and Poland) more or less overtly refer to the Schmittian legacy. Thus, the contribution aims at an intellectual depotentialization of this legacy and mitigation of the impact of its renaissance. Slednjo želi besedilo intelektualno depotencirati in oblažiti vplive njene renesans

“Salvation” and “Danger.” On the “Dual Essence” of Technology
The paper discusses Heidegger’s thesis on the dual essence of technology from the text “The Question Concerning Technology.” The meaning of the thesis is manifested along the lines of a verse authored by Hölderlin as the co-belonging of danger (Gefahr) and salvation (Rettung) within the non-technical essence of technology. The non-technical essence of technology is first considered on the basis of the fundamental bond of revealing (Entbergen) and concealment (Verbergen) of the truth as an event (Ereignen) of both. The concept of Ge-stell as the essence of modern technology is, therefore, understood in the sense of the fully developed danger that is rooted in the very essence of truth, namely, as a concealment, which is itself concealed and which, precisely for that reason, constitutes the only support for the event of truth in the unfolding of immanent difference of revealing and concealment. Ultimately, it turns out that this salvific support belongs to the human being, who, by confronting the Ge-stell within itself, opens the possibility of liberating the event of truth as the nontechnical essence of Ge-stell.Članek obravnava Heideggrovo tezo o dvoznačnem bistvu tehnologije iz besedila »Vprašanje po tehniki«.
Geochemical atlas of Maribor
V monografiji podajamo rezultate raziskav vsebnosti kemičnih elementov, pH vrednosti in vsebnosti celotnega ter organskega ogljika v tleh v Mariboru in prikaze njihovih prostorskih porazdelitev z geokemičnimi kartami. Nekateri preostali elementi, kot so aluminij (Al), kobalt (Co), krom (Cr), železo (Fe) in vanadij (V) jasno odražajo prevladujoč vpliv geološke podlage. Understanding the spatial distribution of levels of chemical elements in soil is crucial for ensuring a safe and healthy living environment. It also plays an important role in spatial planning, land use management, and monitoring long-term anthropogenic impacts on the environment. This is particularly relevant in urban areas due to their high population density. This study presents the results of research on the levels of chemical elements, pH values, and total and organic carbon contents in the soil of Maribor, along with spatial distribution maps. Soil samples were collected from the upper 10 cm across the entire city using a 500 × 500 m grid. After digestion with aqua regia, the levels of 65 elements were determined using ICP-MS. The results indicate that the topsoil in Maribor is not heavily contaminated with potentially toxic elements. However, we identified several smaller areas and a few localized sites with elevated levels of copper (Cu), lead (Pb), and zinc (Zn), primarily within industrial zones and the historic city centre. Their slightly elevated medians compared to Slovenian medians, along with high variability of levels and spatial distribution, suggest at least a partially anthropogenic origin. A partially anthropogenic origin can also be attributed to cadmium (Cd), antimony (Sb), tin (Sn), mercury (Hg), and silver (Ag). In contrast, some elements, for example aluminium (Al), cobalt (Co), chromium (Cr), iron (Fe), and vanadium (V) clearly ref lect the predominant inf luence of the geological setting. With this study, we aimed to define the current geochemical state of the soil in Maribor, make the findings more accessible to the general public, and enable long-term monitoring of soil and environmental conditions

Preliminary assessment of alkali-resistant flax based meshes for reinforcing cementitious composites
The production of textile-reinforced concrete (TRC) requires less materials and energy in comparison with conventional concrete reinforced with steel rebars, which draws some solutions towards the production of net zero concrete that the Cement and Concrete Industry sector should reach by 2050. To go one step further, this study investigates the development of flax based meshes as basic components for a reinforcement grid in cementitious materials. Flax strands and hybrid strands (combination of flax strands and glass or basalt rovings) were impregnated with an epoxy resin to form meshes. The physical and mechanical properties of the flax based meshes were assessed and the alkaline resistance of these reinforcing materials was evaluated to determine their durability in a cementitious matrix. At isoweight of reinforcement, the flax-based meshes demonstrated the best performance in terms of specific modulus and specific strength compared to the hybrid meshes. The hybrid meshes from the control batch displayed specific properties in the same range, whether they were constituted of AR-glass or basalt. However, the use of alkali-resistant glass rovings strongly mitigated the degradation of the mechanical properties of the hybrids meshes by making them less affected by the alkaline environment, among all the reinforcement meshes. In contrast, hybrid meshes with basalt experienced an extensive reduction in tensile strength and strain after exposure to alkaline environment, due to the corrosion of the basalt fibres. Pull-out tests revealed maximum bond strengths for the flax based meshes embedded in a high-performance concrete matrix
