Radiographers’ Perspectives on Justification of Radiographic Procedure in Klang Valley

Justification ensures that radiological examinations are clinically warranted and that benefits outweigh radiation risks and costs. This qualitative exploratory study examined how radiographers in private hospitals in the Klang Valley perceive and enact justification in practice. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with ten purposively selected radiographers and analysed thematically. Participants routinely checked clinical information, correlated indications with requested examinations and consulted referrers when doubt arose, but reported limited authority, inadequate referral details and workflow constraints. Strengthening policies, communication and digital referral systems could support safer, more patient-centred imaging

Spatial–Temporal Assessment of Urban Flood Vulnerability Using GIS and AHP in Klang River Basin

    No full text
Urban flooding poses a critical challenge in rapidly urbanising river basin areas. Taman Sri Muda, located in the Klang River Basin, Malaysia, has experienced recurrent flooding driven by intense rainfall, rising water levels, and urban development. This study assesses the spatial–temporal evolution of flood vulnerability in 2016, 2020, and 2024 using a GIS-based multi-criteria decision analysis approach. Rainfall, water level, elevation, slope, and land use were integrated using the Analytic Hierarchy Process and weighted overlay analysis. Results show increased flood vulnerability between 2016 and 2020, with modest improvement by 2024, providing insights for evidence-based urban planning and flood management

Nurse-Led Preoperative Education Impact on Anxiety and Pain in Total Hip Arthroplasty Patients: A scoping review

Preoperative anxiety and postoperative pain significantly affect recovery and patient satisfaction among adults undergoing elective total hip arthroplasty. Nurse-led preoperative education is a vital peri-anaesthesia intervention providing structured information, psychological support, and realistic expectations. This scoping review synthesises evidence on its relationship with anxiety and pain using PRISMA-ScR guidelines. A total of 210 records were identified across five databases; after screening, 11 studies were included. Most demonstrated reduced preoperative anxiety, while the impact on postoperative pain was inconsistent due to heterogeneity in intervention delivery. Evidence supports structured education; future research using standardised protocols needed to determine its effects on pain outcomes

Perceived Stress and Attitude towards Safe Driving among the Elderly in Malaysia

The global increase in adults aged 60 and above has led to more elderly drivers, whose age-related physical, cognitive, and psychological changes may affect driving safety. This study examined safe-driving attitudes, perceived stress, and their relationship among elderly Malaysian drivers using validated PSS-10 and ASD-46 scales. Most participants showed low road-traffic-accident (RTA) risk and low to moderate stress levels. Fisher’s Exact Test found no significant association between perceived stress and RTA risk. Although the findings support the need for interventions promoting safe driving among older Malaysians, the small sample size limits generalizability and warrants larger future studies

Understanding and Implementation of Breast Screening Practices among Female Lecturers

Breast screening practices, including BSE, CBE, and mammography, help detect breast cancer early and improve outcomes. This study assessed the understanding and implementation of these practices among female lecturers in one of the public universities using a cross-sectional design. A total of 261 lecturers completed an online questionnaire. Most participants had fair to good knowledge and practice of BSE, while fewer demonstrated good levels of knowledge for CBE and mammography. Some individuals still demonstrated poor knowledge, particularly in the areas of CBE and mammography. Overall, the findings indicate that better understanding leads to improved screening practices, which may reduce the risk of developing breast cance

Local Satisfaction as an Evaluation Framework for Co-Created Sustainable Tourism in Pangururan

This paper evaluates local satisfaction as an evaluation framework for co-created sustainable tourism in Pangururan, Lake Toba. A mixed-methods design combines a household survey of 355 residents with interviews and field observations to assess satisfaction with tourism impacts, participation and sustainable tourism development. Findings show moderate to high satisfaction with socio-economic and cultural outcomes, but only moderate satisfaction with participation and environmental management. Co-creation is strongest among organised community groups. The study highlights local satisfaction as a practical diagnostic tool for strengthening governance, inclusive benefit distribution, and environmental performance in emerging tourism destinations

Evidence-Based Design of Learning Environments for Information Literacy Development

The research broadens the scope of the Stimulus-Organism-Response (S-O-R) model from environmental psychology to the realm of medical education. It reinterprets elements of evidence-based instructional design, such as authenticity of problems, structural frameworks, and collaborative areas, as environmental triggers for information-seeking actions (organism), thereby enhancing information literacy skills (response). This theoretical shift from tangible to educational settings uncovers the vital role of information-seeking in connecting environmental design with competency results. The model offers theoretical underpinnings for studying environment-behavior in medical training and actionable advice for designing evidence-based learning class

Environment–Behaviour Dynamics in Informal Settlements and Health Outcomes in Lagos, Nigeria

    No full text
Rapid informal development is altering residential settings and everyday behaviours, with implications for health. Quantitative data (n = 184) was utilized to analyse the environment-behavior dynamics that link housing problems, infrastructural inadequacies, and health hazards in Lagos informal settlements. The findings show that widespread perceptions of poor housing, weak design, and restricted services influence hygiene behaviours and exposure to environmental dangers. Malaria, respiratory infections, and mental stress were common and behavioural adaptation and governance weaknesses seen major mediators. The study concludes that integrated housing-health interventions, improved infrastructure, and participatory upgrading are critical for creating healthier, more resilient informal urban communities

Knowledge Mapping and Dynamic Frontiers of Zhuang Brocade Research:Through Bibliometric Analysis Based on VOSviewer

Zhuang Brocade, a traditional textile of China's Zhuang ethnic group, embodies cultural identity and intangible heritage but faces preservation challenges amid modernization. This study employs bibliometric methods to map its knowledge structure and evolution, to identify thematic shifts toward interdisciplinary frontiers. VOSviewer reveals "Inheritance" and "Intangible Cultural Heritage" as foundational, with emerging focuses on "Digitalization," "Design Innovation," "Artificial Intelligence," and "Semiotics." Findings indicate a technology-integrated transition, requiring multidisciplinary contributions from computer science, semiotics, and cultural ecology to support dynamic heritage protection and innovation

Scroll, speak, resist: Deconstructing colonial narratives through female-centered Moroccan TikTok content

    No full text
This study questions Moroccan women’s ability to use TikTok as a means to challenge Western-centric feminism and confront both colonial narratives and local patriarchal norms. Drawing on decolonial feminist theory, this study analyzes fifteen videos across three pages to examine how music, visual aesthetics and written text reshape feminist agency. Through historical reclamation, humor and educational advocacy, these creators promote localized feminist expression and resist dominant power structures. The findings show that Moroccan women are not passive consumers but active producers of decolonial feminist discourse, positioning TikTok as a crucial site for reimagining gender, identity and knowledge production
