Η Διαδικασία Εξωτερικής Αξιολόγησης σύμφωνα με την ανάλυση του Φυσικού Αντικειμένου η ¨Έκθεση Εξωτερικής Αξιολόγησης, είναι η παρουσίαση του έργου που πραγματοποιήθηκε, και αφορά χρονικό διάστημα τεσσάρων ετών, απόρροια συγκεκριμένων ενεργειών αποτελεί ένα μέσο για τον επανέλεγχο και τη βελτίωση της ποιότητας και της ορθότητας του αρχικού σχεδιασμού του Προγράμματος.
Η αποτίμηση των δραστηριοτήτων του έργου ΘΑΛΗΣ – ΤΕΙ ΚΑΒΑΛΑΣ -
NANOCAPILLARY που αποτελεί το αντικείμενο της παρούσας «Έκθεση Εξωτερικής
Αξιολόγησης» αποτυπώνει το έργο που έχει συντελεσθεί στο χρονικό διάστημα Ιανουάριος
2012 έως 30 Σεπτεμβρίου 2015. Κατά το ως άνω αυτό χρονικό διάστημα, ασκήθηκε κάθε
απαιτούμενη διαρθρωτική κίνηση σε δυσλειτουργίες που εμφανίστηκαν κατά την
υλοποίηση της πράξης με ουσιαστικό έλεγχο στη λειτουργία και την εφαρμογή του
έργου.
Αντικείμενο της Εξωτερικής Αξιολόγησης είναι να παράσχει τις κατάλληλες
πληροφορίες και τα εργαλεία, τα οποία θα συνδράμουν στον εντοπισμό τυχόν αδυναμιών
και προβλημάτων κατά την υλοποίηση του Προγράμματος. Κύριος σκοπός της παρούσας
Αξιολόγησης είναι: η παρακολούθηση, αποτίμηση και εκτίμηση όλων των παραμέτρων
και των παραγόντων που επιδρούν στη πορεία του Έργου και προσδιορίζουν την εξέλιξη
και τα αποτελέσματά του, η εξαγωγή συμπερασμάτων και η διαμόρφωση προτάσεων για
την επιβεβαίωση της ορθότητας της πορείας του και η διόρθωση - βελτίωση κάθε
στοιχείου που παραμορφώνει ή παραχαράσσει την αποτελεσματική και ολοκληρωμένη
επίτευξη των στόχων του
Leaf surface wettability and fatty acid composition of Arbutus unedo and Arbutus andrachne grown under ambient conditions in a natural macchia
Features of the adaxial and abaxial surface microstructure of Arbutus unedo L. and Arbutus andrachne L. are evaluated as possible consistent parameters contributing to the wetness of leaves. The abaxial leaf surface of A. andrachne and A. unedo was determined to be more hydrophobic than the adaxial leaf surface. Hydrophobicity may be of particular importance for the ecophysiological status of the hypostomatic leaves of both Arbutus species, which exhibit a long lifespan and are exposed to various environmental stimuli. Water repellence may also be correlated to the increased presence of surface wax. Lipid analysis of the leaves of both plant species revealed an abundance of a-linolenic acid, with palmitic acid as the second major contributor, followed by linoleic and oleic acid. Oleic and linoleic acid were present in slightly larger percentages in A. andrachne compared with A. unedo, whereas myristic, palmitic and a-linolenic acids were found in elevated percentages in A. unedo. The fatty acid composition analysis of the leaf wax of A. andrachne and A. unedo ranged from C16 to C26, with fatty acids of an even longer chain length detected in the case of A. andrachne. Despite the similar fatty acid composition of total lipids, the composition of the wax fraction showed differences between the two Arbutus species, which may partly contribute to the foliar surface properties of the two species

Search engines, such as Google and Yahoo!, provide efficient retrieval and ranking of web pages based on queries consisting of a set of given keywords. Recent studies show that 20% of all Web queries also have location constraints, i.e., also refer to the location of a geotagged web page. An increasing number of applications support location-based keyword search, including Google Maps, Bing Maps, Yahoo! Local, and Yelp. Such applications depict points of interest on the map and combine their location with the keywords provided by the associated document(s). The posed queries consist of two conditions: a set of keywords and a spatial location. The goal is to find points of interest with these keywords close to the location. We refer to such a query as spatial-keyword query. Moreover, mobile devices nowadays are enhanced with built-in GPS receivers, which permits applications (such as search engines or yellow page services) to acquire the location of the user implicitly, and provide location-based services. For instance, Google Mobile App provides a simple search service for smartphones where the location of the user is automatically captured and employed to retrieve results relevant to her current location. As an example, a search for pizza results in a list of pizza restaurants nearby the user. In this research project, we studied how preference queries can be extended for supporting also keywords.
To this end we first studied preference queries in order to establish techniques that can be extended for supporting keywords (Chapter 1). Moreover, we proposed Top-k Spatio-Textual Preference Queries and proposed a novel indexing scheme and two algorithms for supporting efficient query processing (Chapter 2). We also studied the problem of maximizing the influence of spatio-textual objects based on reverse top-k queries and keyword selection (Chapter 3). Finally, we analyze the properties of geotagged photos of Flickr, and propose novel location-aware tag recommendation methods (Chapter 4)
Mammalian bone palaeohistology: a survey and new data with emphasis on island forms
The interest in mammalian palaeohistology has increased dramatically in the last two decades. Starting in 1849 via descriptive approaches, it has been demonstrated that bone tissue and vascularisation types correlate with several biological variables such as ontogenetic stage, growth rate, and ecology. Mammalian bone displays a large variety of bone tissues and vascularisation patterns reaching from lamellar or parallel-fibred to fibrolamellar or woven-fibred bone, depending on taxon and individual age. Here we systematically review the knowledge and methods on cynodont and mammalian bone microstructure as well as palaeohistology and discuss potential future research fields and techniques. We present new data on the bone microstructure of two extant marsupial species and of several extinct continental and island placental mammals. Extant marsupials display mainly parallel-fibred primary bone with radial and oblique but mainly longitudinal vascular canals. Three juvenile specimens of the dwarf island hippopotamid Hippopotamus minor from the Late Pleistocene of Cyprus show reticular to plexiform fibrolamellar bone. The island murid Mikrotia magna from the Late Miocene of Gargano, Italy displays parallelfibred primary bone with reticular vascularisation and strong remodelling in the
middle part of the cortex. Leithia sp., the dormouse from the Pleistocene of Sicily, is characterised by a primary bone cortex consisting of lamellar bone and a high amount of compact coarse cancellous bone. The bone cortex of the fossil continental lagomorph Prolagus oeningensis and three fossil species of insular Prolagus displays mainly parallel-fibred primary bone and reticular, radial as well as longitudinal vascularisation. Typical for large mammals, secondary bone in the giant rhinocerotoid Paraceratherium sp. fromthe LateOligocene of Turkey is represented by denseHaversian bone. The skeletochronological features of Sinomegaceros yabei, a large-sized deer from the Pleistocene of Japan closely related to Megaloceros, indicate a high growth rate. These examples and the synthesis of existing data show the potential of bone microstructure to reveal essential information on life history evolution. The bone tissue and the skeletochronological data of the sampled island species suggest the presence of various modes of bone histological modification and mammalian life history evolution on islands to depend on factors of island evolution such as island size, distance frommainland, climate, phylogeny, and time of evolution
Παραδοτέο Π.1.3: Μηχανισμοί δεικτοδότησης μη-παραδοσιακών δεδομένων
Το παρόν Παραδοτέο Π.1.3 περιλαμβάνει τα αποτελέσματα της υποδράσης ΥΔ1.3. Στην ενότητα 1 παρουσιάζουμε το γενικότερο πλαίσιο της έρευνας που διεξήχθηκε η οποία ακολούθησε δύο οδούς, η πρώτη από τις οποίες αφορά σε δεικτοδότηση μεγάλων συμβολοσειρών και η δεύτερη αυτή της διαχείρισης σημασιολογικά εμπλουτισμένων βάσεων κινούμενων αντικειμένων. Στις ενότητες 2 και 3 παρουσιάζουμε τα κύρια αποτελέσματα για αυτές τις δύο διαφορετικές προσεγγίσεις
