    AN ANALYSIS OF SPEAKING LANGUAGE LEARNING STRATEGIES USED BY STUDENTS’ OF STKIP MUHAMMADIYAH MUARA BUNGO

    Abstract This research focus on an investigation students’ speaking language learning strategies were used by the second semester students’ of English Department STKIP Muhammadiyah Muara Bungo (STKIP-MB). The researcher analyzed speaking learning strategies components based on the Oxford’s theories included direct strategies such as memory strategies, cognitive strategies, compensation strategies, and indirect strategies such as metacognitive strategies, affective strategies, and social strategies. The method of this research was descriptive quantitative. The data of this research were analyzed by using two methods of data analysis. Quantitative data analysis was used to examine and interpreted data from speaking test and questionnaire. The data taken from observation, field note and interview were analyzed by using qualitative data analysis. The finding shows that (1)There are many speaking learning strategies used by the students of English Department STKI-MB. The  students   who  used memory strategies is 54.7%, the students who  used cognitive strategies  is  50.3 %, the students who used compensation strategies is 62.3%, the students which used metacognitive strategies is  42.0%, The students who used affective strategies is  39.3% and the last,  the students who used social strategies is 51.8%. (2) The most frequently strategy that used by students was compensation strategy 62.3%. This study indicated that the speaking learning strategies are possible to affect the assessment score of the students’ speaking quality.  Keywords:  Speaking, Learning Strategie

    ENGLISH CAMP ACTIVITIES TO INCREASE COMMUNICATIVE SPEAKING ABILITY TO STUDENTS OF STKIP MUHAMMADIYAH MUARA BUNGO

    The purpose of this article is to present the result of a study conducted to describe the effect of English camp activities to increase communicative speaking ability to first grade students of STKIP Muhammadiyah Muara Bungo. This study is an action research study based on Kurt.L model which used planning, acting, observing, and reflecting procedures. It was done into two cycles in each cycles consisted of three meetings. The instruments were questionnaire and test. The findings showed that the mean score’s pretest reached of 60,42 to 69,02 and post test’s score reached up to 78,7. It is important to describe that there is a significant improvement of 13,9% to 41,7% in post test 1 and 83,33% in post test 2. Therefore, the criteria of success had been determined. It is crucial to note that using English camp activities have contributed a positive impact on teaching learning process. Clearly, it gives positive improvement on students’ active participation, confidence and their fluency in speaking skill. In short, it can be described that the strategy creates good, enjoyable circumstances and reduces the boredom and stress of learning process.Tujuan artikel ini adalah untuk menyajikan hasil penelitian yang menjelaskan pengaruh aktivitas-aktivitas dalam kamp bahasa Inggris dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara secara komunikatif kepada siswa tahun pertama di STKIP Muhammadiyah Muara Bungo. Penelitian ini merupakan studi penelitian tindakan berdasarkan model Kurt.L yang menggunakan prosedur perencanaan, tindakan, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Penelitian ini terdiri dari dua siklus yang dalam setiap siklus terdiri dari tiga pertemuan. Instrumennya berupa kuesioner dan tes. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata pretest mencapai 60,42 hingga 69,02 dan skor post test mencapai hingga 78,7. Penting untuk menggambarkan bahwa ada peningkatan yang signifikan dari 13,9% menjadi 41,7% pada post test 1 dan 83,33% dalam post test 2. Oleh karena itu, kriteria keberhasilan telah ditentukan. Sangat penting untuk dicatat bahwa menggunakan kegiatan kamp Inggris telah memberikan dampak positif pada proses belajar mengajar. Jelas, ini memberikan peningkatan positif pada partisipasi aktif siswa, kepercayaan diri, dan kelancaran mereka dalam keterampilan berbicara.     ANALISIS PERAN PELATIH TERHADAP PRESTASI BULUTANGKIS DI KABUPATEN BUNGO

    Research began with the decline in the achievements of the badminton sport in Bungo Regency. Achievement is the highest dream of athletes that can be achieved with high motivation. This motivation can come from the athlete's self or external encouragement such as a coach. This research focuses on the role of the trainer on the achievements in badminton. This research is a qualitative research with descriptive method. Data is obtained through observation, interviews and documentation studies. The source of data in this study is the badminton coach at the club under the guidance of PBSI, Bungo Regency. From the results of the data analysis, it can be concluded that the role of the trainer for badminton performance has not run well. In terms of building communication, the trainer has done well. The availability of time for training is still lacking. Short, medium, long-term, age and special single and double training programs are not yet availablePenelitian berawal dari menurunnya prestasi cabang olahraga bulutangkis di Kabupaten Bungo. Prestasi merupakan impian tertinggi dari atlet yang bisa dicapai dengan motivasi yang tinggi. Motivasi ini dapat berasal dari diri atlet atau dorongan dari luar seperti pelatih. Penelitian ini barfokus pada peran pelatih terhadap prestasi di bulutangkis. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Data diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara dan studi dokumentasi. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini yaitu pelatih bulutangkis yang berada di klub bawah binaan PBSI Kabupaten Bungo. Dari hasil analisis data dapat disimpulkan bahwa, peran pelatih untuk prestasi bulutangkis belum berjalan dengan baik secara sepenuhnya. Dari segi membangun komunikasi, pelatih sudah menjalakan dengan baik. Ketersediaan waktu untuk latihan masih kurang. Program latihan jangka pendek, menengah, jangka panjang, kelompok umur dan khusus untuk tunggal serta ganda belum tersedia

    he purpose of this study was to determine: (1) The effect of Zig-zag-Technique Combination Exercise application on the speed of the JPOK Son's Sabit Kick Fighting FKIP Sebelas Maret University Surakarta. This research is using experimental method. The subject of this research is the son of the fostering of the achievement of pencak silat JPOK in Sebelas Maret University Surakarta in 2012 totaling 20 people. The data collection technique used in this study was a 10-second sickle kick speed test. Data analysis techniques used with t test with a significance level of 5%. The results of the research are as follows: (1) There is a significant effect after the application of Zig-Zag Combination Technique on the Speed ​​of JPOK Putra's Fighter's Sabit Kick FKIP Sebelas Maret University Surakarta in 2012. From the calculation, the t-count is 2,242 and t-table with a significance level of 5% and n = 10 of 2,228. Improved index contributions that are able to be given a technical zigzag combination exercise are 14.40%. The research conclusions are as follows: (1) There is a significant effect of the technical zigzag combination training application on the speed of sickle kick on the son of the Pencak Silat JPOK Achievement in 2012 Sebelas Maret University SurakartaTujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui: (1) Pengaruh aplikasi Latihan Kombinasi Zig-zag-Teknik terhadap Kecepatan Tendangan Sabit Pesilat Putra JPOK FKIP Universitas Sebelas Maret Surakarta . Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen. Subyek dari penelitian ini adalah pesilat putra pembinaan prestasi pencak silat JPOK Universitas Sebelas Maret Surakarta tahun 2012 berjumlah 20 orang. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian  ini adalah tes kecepatan tendangan sabit 10 detik. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan dengan uji t dengan taraf signifikansi 5%.Hasil penelitian adalah sebagai berikut: (1) Ada Pengaruh yang signifikan setelah pengaplikasian latihan Kombinasi Zig-Zag Teknik terhadap Kecepatan Tendangan Sabit Pesilat Putra JPOK FKIP Universitas Sebelas Maret Surakarta tahun 2012. Dari hasil perhitungan diperoleh nilai t-hitung sebesar 2.242 dan t- tabel dengan taraf signifikansi 5% dan n=10 sebesar 2.228. Sumbangan indeks peningkatan yang mampu diberikan latihan kombinasi zig-zag teknikyaitu 14,40%. Kesimpulan peneitian ini adalah sebagai berikut: (1) Ada pengaruh yang signifikan dari aplikasi latihan kombinasi zig-zag teknik terhadap kecepatan tendangan sabit pada  pesilat putra Pembinaan Prestasi Pencak Silat JPOK Universitas Sebelas Maret Surakarta Tahun 2012
