Christ the Preeminent, Firstborn, and King - Colossians 1:13-20

    Get PDF
Who is the Son of God? Jesus Christ is the obvious central figure in the New Testament, which consists of four distinct accounts of his life and ministry and numerous other books and epistles pointing others to follow and give their lives to him. Reading through the Old Testament, however, Christ the Son, the second person of the Trinity, seems to be strangely absent, at least upon first glance. In Colossians 1:13-20, though, the apostle Paul helps us to see the creative and redemptive role of Christ from the beginning, displaying his divine nature, supremacy and authority over all of creation and across eternity

    Bird and Bix

    Get PDF
This short story was originally written for Advanced Creative Writing. I was inspired by a little bird that tapped on the window of a study room on 2 Breu. I wondered if he was looking in at me to say \u27hello\u27. I knew I wanted to write a story about a bird who lived in the Breu parking lot, but the story didn\u27t click until I found another character to befriend him. As I scratched out ideas, I heard the little voice of a bug delightfully shouting about the time he found an entire potato chip in the parking lot, and Bird and Bix was born. The parking lot and building ( The Behemoth ) were based off Breuninger Hall. I\u27m honored that Libby Denckhoff and Sutton Frederick created pieces inspired by my story. I pray my story and their artwork is a blessing to those who need it

Equipping and Mobilizing Parents and Guardians of Middle Schoolers to Disciple their Children Through the Ministry of Parents of Middle Schoolers (POMS)

    Get PDF
Parents within the church are facing a pandemic of feelings of inadequacy in terms of discipling their teens. Modern culture has largely shifted responsibilities away from parents and onto professionals at church, for developing the spiritual dimension of their adolescent. Yet, the familial influence of an adolescent supersedes the influence of any youth worker. Youth workers should neither be the foundation of an adolescent’s spirituality nor the cosmetic finishing. In a Christian home, parents and guardians have the high privilege to influence and lead the spiritual formation of their children. The church was granted the high privilege and honor to equip the saints so that the body of Christ may be build up (Eph 4:11-12). A relationship between families and the church in the role of spiritual formation is essential. This philosophy of ministry proposes a ministry that equips parents to practice the ministry of discipleship at home
