    DeForesting

DeForesting is a collection of fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry that explores the mental process of creating my stories and characters, and dives into why I am a writer at all. Using familiar tactics, and also subgenres I had never tried before, I probe into new voices, and different styles of writing. Although they are often uncertain and questioning, through that, my CNF and poetry take on a whimsical and open-ended feel. The title refers to the chimerical forest I must nurture and cut down and around in order to create these feelings and writings

One More Neighbor: Utilizing Legal Services for Holistic Immigrant Care

This paper rests upon the assumption that local churches in the United States have a critical role to play in obeying the command of Jesus to care for immigrants. I argue for a ministry that combines the mission of Jesus with the compassion of Jesus by bringing together immigration legal services with opportunities to disciple our “neighbors,” immigrants who live in close proximity to our church site. One More Neighbor is a ministry within One More, the missions non-profit of Church at the Crossing on the northwest side of Indianapolis, Indiana. The ministry of One More Neighbor is explored systematically through the lens of William Frankena\u27s model for a philosophy of education. Using the Frankena model, I venture from theologically-grounded theory to concrete practices that are employed day-to-day in the ministry. Finally, this paper uses Eduardo, a second-generation Mexican immigrant, as a case study for understanding how One More Neighbor remains faithful to its mission and vision

Word & Witness: A Philosophy of Ministry in Training Women to Engage God\u27s Word and Witness to His Faithfulness

Many women in the church today are seeking depth in their relationship with God. Word & Witness women’s ministry seeks to walk-alongside and spiritually guide women towards greater love for God and Scripture, bringing about deeper intimacy. This ministry will be described as a branch off of the women’s ministry at Granger Community Church, in Granger, Indiana. Word & Witness desires for women to be equipped and encouraged to engage God’s Word and witness to God’s faithfulness in their lives. As women participate in this ministry, they will learn how to be in communion with God, community with others, live out Christ-like character, and their calling as a faithful witness. These characteristics will be instilled through weekly gatherings, engaging God’s Word, writing out their testimonies, sharing their testimonies, and prayer
