Fred (Fritz) Schreiber
Get PDFBIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION: Fred (Fritz) Schreiber is a Caucasian male born on August 7, 1926, at Summit University (Old Rondo). He is the youngest of five kids raised by his father and his maternal grandma after his mother passed away when he was four. His dad worked at Minnesota Mine, American Hoist, and Derrick. Schreiber was raised Lutheran as a way to connect to his mother. SUBJECTS DISCUSSED: He begins his interview by explaining his living arrangement with his family. Nine people lived in one household but recalled it was a great time regardless of the number of family members under one roof. Schreiber mentions that most of his neighbors growing up were African-American, which created no conflict for the other neighbors. Leisure time happened when his father was not working on Sundays. These activities included going to Como Zoo, visiting relatives in Carver, and pheasant hunting. Sundays were reserved for family time. When asked about local and global issues impacting him during his childhood years, Schreiber recalls discussions about Hitler and World War II. Next, he details his time in the military while he was stationed in Okinawa after the war. He lived through the biggest typhoon to have hit the island. In the second part of the interview, Schreiber describes more issues that arose in his neighborhood or lack thereof. He recalls having black classmates mixed in with his primarily white class but does not remember any discrimination happening. He describes the difference between being integrated with other people of color in his school and neighborhood and being segregated once he joined the military. Schreiber then talks about the time he gave a blood transfusion on a cot to a black man during his service. Paramilitary Model and Civilian Employee’s Impression of Law Enforcement
Get PDFLaw enforcement agencies have long been facing a leadership crisis. Much of law enforcement organizational structure and leadership have been focused solely on police officers. Law enforcement leaders forget these traditional models and rigid structure also affect civilian personnel. The chain of command serves to streamline communication, not to facilitate unchecked behavior. However, many law enforcement leaders continue to rely on the chain of command for everything from mentoring, to coaching, to evaluation. Civilians may feel they are treated unequally and suffer from an unbalanced psychological injury. Some may consider it blasphemous to change the traditional organizational structure of law enforcement agencies.
This paper will explore the administrative issues with the paramilitary model, ethical implications, hiring civilian commanders into civilian operated units to correct the problem and identify the challenges this change may impose
The Effects of Oxybenzone & Lactic Acid on Epidermal cells
Get PDFThe objective of the experiment was to see how oxybenzone and lactic acid would affect the proliferation of the REK cells. The reasons for the following reagents was that humans can find either or on the body at some time of their day/life. So, as a group we wanted to know how Lactic acid and Oxybenzone would affect the proliferation of the REK cells. The method that was used was very similar to the methods that were explained in the lab notebook which consisted of splitting the cells, adding the cells to the wells, adding the concentration of each reagent, finally getting results through a cytotoxicity test. Once the data was compiled from the cytotoxicity test as a group we could see if there was a correlation through the data that was collected, and this procedure was done 3 different times in different trials which we kept increasing the stock solution of the reagents. Once that was done we could see that there was a correlation, and we could see that the REK cells did indeed have cell proliferation in each of the trials. So, in conclusion oxybenzone and lactic acid does indeed have an effect on the REK cells which leads to a high proliferation of the cells
College Students\u27 Perceptions of Depression Among College Students and Non-College Students

Depression is a serious mental illness which is becoming increasingly prevalent among college-age individuals and the general public. Depression and other mental illnesses have come under increasing concern in the United States overall and on college campuses in particular. Given concerns regarding depression among college students, it is important to examine college students’ perceptions of depression among college students versus non-college students. The current study examined and compared college students’ perceptions of depression among college students versus non-college-attending individuals. Participants viewed an online survey which included one of two versions of a vignette which described “Sam,” a “hardworking individual” considered by most to be “kind” but who can sometimes say things that “seem a little strange.” The vignettes were identical, except one vignette described Sam as a full-time college student and the other vignette described Sam as someone who works full time and does not attend college. Participants were then asked to answer questions about Sam relating to depression (e.g., likelihood of depression, feelings of sadness, feelings of hopelessness, etc.). No significant differences were found between the college and non-college conditions for any of the outcome variables of interest. Results of the current study demonstrate no significant differences in the way college students perceive depression or symptoms of depression in college students versus non-college students. To continue examining this issue and address limitations of the current study, future researchers should focus on expanding example size

The recruitment and retention of high school sport officials in Minnesota: An Exploratory Analysis
Get PDFThe issue that this proposal study will address is the current officiating shortage for Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) sanctioned events. High school games are being rescheduled and at times canceled altogether due to the lack of available registered officials needed to ensure games are officiated correctly and with quality. In order to address this problem, the purpose of this proposed study will be to explore the types of interactions, both positive and negative, that registered MSHSL officials have had with players, coaches, and fans at events they have officiated. To gather the data, an online survey would be conducted and completed by current MSHSL registered officials. This proposed study would have a plethora of audiences that deem to benefit from its findings. Athletes, administrators, coaches, fans, and the officials would all benefit from a more quality gameday experience when examining the data retrieved from this study and in turn, help reverse the trend of the officiating shortage in Minnesota

If conducted, this study will provide information on how high school and college athletic directors are similar, as well as how they are different. This study would benefit those already in the profession and those who are aspiring to become an athletic director at the high school or college level

Objective Investigate the effects of KT on scapular kinematics during upper extremity elevation
Participants Twenty asymptomatic participants aged 23-36 years old (mean 25.45) No cervical, thoracic, or shoulder conditions affecting shoulder ROM Right hand dominant
Methods Kinesio ® tape was applied to the dominant upper extremity 3D motion of the humerus and scapula were measured using the G4 electromagnetic motion capture system and MotionMonitor software Upper extremely elevation was performed in the sagittal, frontal, and scapular planes without tape and with tape. The non-tape condition was repeated Repeated measures ANOVA utilizing SPSS v 28 for statistical analysis
Results No statistically significant difference in scapular upward rotation with upper extremity elevation between KT, non-KT, and repeated non-KT conditions (p=0.603) No statistically significant difference in scapular posterior tilting with upper extremity elevation between KT, non-KT, and repeated non-KT conditions (p=0.376) Results are outlined in figure 2.
Conclusion It is hypothesized that KT can alter the kinematics of the scapula and could be used to help treat individuals with SAIS The current literature has not reached a consensus as to whether or not KT has the ability to alter the kinematics of the scapula Current study found no change in either scapular posterior tilting or upward rotation Further research is needed to see if this taping method would be effective at reducing pain in individuals with symptomatic SAIS

No full textPosterior Tibial Tendon Dysfunction (PTTD) is a foot and ankle condition where the posterior tibialis tendon loses varying degrees of function, potentially causing a person’s medial longitudinal arch (MLA) to collapse and develop pes planus or pes valgus (flat foot deformity, flat foot deformity with valgus hindfoot tilt; Yao et al., 2015). PTTD has been established as one of the main causes of pes planus development in adults (Gómez-Jurado et al., 2021). While research studies show that foot and ankle foot orthoses are effective non-surgical treatment options for Stage I & II PTTD, the authors of these studies barely describe what kind of materials were used within their studies to manufacture the foot orthoses used. The purpose of this graduate project is to discover what combination of orthotic top cover materials and a polypropylene base layer will provide optimal patient treatment and recovery outcomes for those diagnosed with Stage I & II PTTD. PTTD was chosen due to the gaps within the literature on selecting orthosis materials for specifically treating PTTD

NFL head coaches come from all walks of life but end up falling into two categories once hired: Either a former head coach is hired to helm a new team or a rising assistant coach is brought in to inject some new ideas. Whichever category they fall into, the team members become a reflection of the coach’s ideas and values. And, how well the team does in terms of on-field success is often the main dictation of the coach’s future with the franchise. Using data from the coaching hires in the NFL from the last 25 years (1997-2022), this study will investigate which of two methods for entering head coaching in the NFL results in more success for the team, as calculated by the franchise record. The paper reflected how the growing trend of analytics is being overlaid onto coaching hires, and how the process may impact other facets of industry
