Research revealed that when students feel valued and understood by their teachers, they are more likely to participate actively in class and seek help when needed. Overall, the findings indicated positive teacher-student relationships were essential for creating a supportive and effective educational environment. The paper concluded by emphasizing the need for educators and institutions to prioritize the development of these relationships as they play a crucial role in both teaching effectiveness and student success. By investing in the encouragement of TSRs, schools can enhance the overall educational experience for everyone involved, paving the way for a brighter future in education

Systematic Literature Review on the Best Type of Exercise for Weight Loss in Obese/Overweight Adolescents: Anaerobic vs Aerobic Exercise

    No full text
The focus of this paper is on obesity in the world today. The systematic literature review will examine the benefits and comparison between aerobic and anaerobic exercise in weight loss for adolescence. There has been research done and prior information collected on the combination of changing diet and exercise. Still, this proposal is to look at whether one type of exercise when starting at a younger age, can help a person stay at a healthier weight and avoid obesity altogether or limit the growing epidemic. The study will compare the two different categories of exercise when prescribed to several groups of people. The study will compare the results of the individual based only on the different exercise categories, aerobic and anaerobic when the diet is the same in both groups. The purpose of completing this study is to determine what type of exercise is the most beneficial for decreasing the prevalence of obesity in the adolescent population. As many people develop behaviors and habits in their younger years that they continue on throughout their life it is imperative to educate the younger generation to put a stop to this issue

Abstract This paper collected and examined research suggesting differing strategies for literacy learning. The research studies examined used qualitative, quantitative and mixed-methods of data collection. The scope of research included three themes of study: home and family literacy learning strategies, school literacy teaching strategies and strategies for differentiation. Commonalities suggested from the studies included positive reading interactions from families and educator use of research-based literacy strategies. As well as differentiation through scaffolding to meet individual needs, the research suggested positive family joint reading and positive family engagement around literacy improve child literacy outcomes. Studies also suggest research-based literacy strategies directly lead to improved outcomes in the classroom. The differentiated study research suggested evidence-based interventions should be inclusive and best used as part of direct instruction. The three themes work together to create a non-comprehensive catalog of strategies to be used by families and educators. Parent-educator partnership is vital as the research presents data indicating key successful literacy learning is a combination of positive parental interactions around reading and intentional research-based literacy education at school. Keywords: differentiation, direct instruction, evidence-based interventions, inclusion, literacy learning strategies, positive family engagement, parent-teacher partnership, scaffoldin

Qualified but Not Good Enough: The Perspectives and Barriers from Black Women in Educational Leadership Roles

    Get PDF
From teachers to principals to superintendents, Black women continue to struggle for opportunities to lead in the educational setting. This qualitative, phenomenological study examined the lived experiences of eight Black women who achieved educational leadership positions in K-12 education to understand how their race and gender have informed their personal lives and professional journeys. Participants were obtained via a convenience sample and individually interviewed on four main topics: their perceptions of the impact of race and gender on the availability of contemporary educational leadership positions, their own experiences attempting to secure leadership roles, how stereotypes and biased ideology have affected their hiring and promotion, and how they perceive their leadership to have affected students of color. Interview data were recorded and transcribed, via ZOOM communication was used to assist with identifying common themes within the data. Findings showed that Black women leaders in K-12 educational leadership roles in the Upper Midwest region of the United States of America face significant obstacles when advancing their careers. In addition, research showed that there are numerous stereotypes associated with Black women leaders such as the Angry Black Women stereotype, the Queen Bee Phenomenon and identity shifting. Recommendations for educational policy changed and future research are advanced and implies that systemic changes in hiring and promotion practices for Black women in K-12 leadership positions should be developed and a system of best practices must be applied. And while the findings show that significant changes must be made, the results provided in this study show that the challenges far outweigh the solution

This paper examined varied interpretations of student engagement in school and analyzed its impact on students\u27 success across multiple dimensions. Using a range of research methods—surveys, classroom observations, and mixed-methods approaches—the study investigated how engagement manifests in classrooms, how it\u27s shaped by various internal and external influences, and its effects on academic performance as well as students’ social and emotional well-being. The studies considered different perspectives on motivation and engagement, examining how these contribute to a better learning experience. They also looked at what these insights mean for teachers and others involved in education. The research highlighted how crucial student engagement is to overall achievement and showed that teachers play an important role in motivating students. It emphasized the need for teacher training in classroom management and teaching strategies, especially to support diverse learners, including those with different learning needs. Ultimately, the findings suggested that teachers should avoid a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, they should use flexible teaching methods that address the varied ways students engage and stay motivated in the classroom. This approach is vital for creating an inclusive learning environment that supports all students

Using Multiple Activity Choices to Impact Student Motivation, Skill Acquisition, and Student Preference in Physical Education.

This study investigated the use of multiple activity choices and their impact on student motivation, skill acquisition, and student preference in physical education. A quantitative survey and a pre and post-test were conducted from a population of 31 (18 girls and 13 boys) fifth and sixth-grade students in a physical education classroom throughout four class periods. Results did not show a positive correlation between the preferred level of autonomy and motivation. Similar results also showed a lack of a positive correlation between preferred level of autonomy and skill acquisition. The data also showed that motivation did not have a positive correlation with skill acquisition or preference of the approach to physical education. However, the results did indicate that preferred level of autonomy had a positive correlation with preference of the approach to physical education. Additionally, student surveys indicated that choice-based learning and physical education as fun, pleasure, and entertainment were the preference among students. The researcher concluded that while four of the five hypotheses were not statistically significant, student opinion on choice-based learning should play a role in forming curriculum and therefore be incorporated into physical education when deemed effective and appropriate by the teacher

    Get PDF
Purpose: Exploration of deadlift inclusion for tactical strength and conditioning in United States Marines for enhancement of occupational performance. Problem: Limited previous research involving deadlift training routines for specialized occupations. Hypothesis: 3RM deadlift periodization will produce significant strength aptitudes for population training parameters. Methods: 48 participants (22 EG, 26 CG), ages 18-27, conducted 8-week protocol with training sessions performed 3 times per week, baseline and post assessments conducted at Week 1 and Week 8 with customized USMC physical fitness assessment. EG performed DL protocol based on individual’s 3RM; D1= 65% of 3RM @ 4 sets x 15 repetitions, D2= 75% of 3RM @ 4 sets x 6 repetitions, D3= 85% of 3RM @ 3 sets x 3 repetitions. CG performed farmer walk carries for prescribed distance of 150 feet. Results: Independent sample t-test displayed Pre 3RM DL EG mean of 264.8 ± 59.8 (lbs) versus Pre 3RM DL CG mean of 222.7 ± 69.4 (lbs); Post 3RM DL EG yielded a mean 295.9 ± 59.8 (lbs) versus Post 3RM DL CG yielded a mean 224.6 ± 73.3 (lbs). Critical T-Value (CV) for the two-tailed t-test calculated to approximately ± 2.013. Single and two tailed t-tests indicated significant difference between EG and CG for Pre 3RM DL and Post 3RM DL (p \u3c .001). Cohen’s d effect size calculated value of .650 for Pre 3RM DL and 1.066 for Post 3RM DL. Discussion: 3RM DL exhibited significant physiological adaptations in strength performance and innovative design of fitness test effectively captured applicable strength progression in tactical athletes

Service Errors in High School Volleyball Games

    No full text
The volleyball serve is an important part of the game. A player can score many points if their serve is effective, and the opposing team cannot return the ball. It can also be detrimental to the team if a serve is not completed, as it awards a point to the other team. If a team can serve effectively, it can win the game. A local high school volleyball team was followed throughout the 2023 season to see whether service errors and win/loss records correlated. Service errors were tracked via an assistant coach and a student manager. A stats sheet and pencil were used to track how many service errors occurred. The data was imported into a Microsoft Excel sheet for safekeeping and analysis. Once the data has been collected over the season, a one-way ANOVA test will be used to analyze the information. This research was important to help coaches utilize their practice time to either work on serving or not. This can help the coach better prepare the team and get them ready for competition by spending more or less time on the skill of serving
