The Impact of a Coach: A Qualitative Study on The Strategies and Techniques That Coaches Use to Improve the Performance of High School Student-Athletes
This mixed-methods study will explore the impact of coaching strategies on the performance and personal development of high school student-athletes. There will be 61 total participants in this study. It will include 15 coaches and 46 student-athletes with diverse backgrounds. They were selected using purposive and random sampling techniques. The study would utilize detailed interview guides for the coaches and open-ended survey questions for student-athletes to gather qualitative data. Coaches will provide insight through 18-question interviews which will cover different sections of their profession like demographic information, coaching philosophy, practices, influences on student-athletes, and received support. Student-athletes will complete a nine-question survey that focuses on the effectiveness of their coach’s coaching strategies and their experiences during their performances. Ethical considerations like informed consent and confidentiality would be strictly followed. The findings will highlight the role of effective coaching in enhancing both athletic performance and personal growth among high school athletes, offering valuable implications for coaching practices and future research in sports education
Long Term Effects of Concussions on Athletes
Concussions are a common injury that can occur in all levels of sport. A concussion is a mild TBI that can present the athlete with a number of different short or long term symptoms (Art et al., 2023, pg. 26). These concussion symptoms are and should be reported and recorded by coaches, parents and physicians. . These injuries can potentially have long term effects on the athletes brain. The purpose of this study is to explore the effects of concussions not only on the athletes overall health, but their academic and athletics as well. Through this exploration, changes could be made to return to play protocols and prevention equipment used with different sports
The Impact Of Dynamic Stretching During Warm Ups For Increased Performance In High School Varsity Basketball Athletes In Trinidad And Tobago
Due to its widespread popularity, basketball has become a significant sport with professional leagues thriving on nearly every continent. In Trinidad and Tobago, where basketball is becoming more and more popular, the study\u27s focus is on varsity players in high school. Comparing dynamic stretching with traditional static stretching techniques, the study looks into how dynamic stretching affects performance and helps prevent injuries. Dynamic stretching has been demonstrated to improve performance metrics including speed, agility, and vertical jump while lowering the risk of injury. These movements are modeled after actual sporting activities. A pretest-posttest design was used to evaluate the data from thirty male high school varsity players. The results support the use of dynamic stretching in regular training regimens as it greatly improves performance metrics and lowers the occurrence of injuries. This study has implications for injury prevention methods, training plans, and coaching strategies in basketball and other sports around the world
Importance of Club and Summer Wrestling in Alaska
High school athletics has a different landscape compared to what it was in the 1990’s and early 2000’s. Student athletes were able to be a three or four sport athlete, and still be able to compete at the college level. Now student athletes need to specialize in one sport, and train that specific sport year-round to be able to compete in college. States like Alaska are catching up to this idea of year-round training opportunities that were not available in the past, and because of that there has been much more success at the national level specifically in the sport of wrestling. The athletes that are taking advantage of the off-season training and Team Alaska wrestling camps are the ones who are placing at state level events and are seeing continued success at the collegiate level. This project was focused on the high school wrestlers that competed during the high school wrestling season in Alaska. There were two groups involved within the research. Group one was those individuals that trained in wrestling year-round, and those who did only the high school wrestling season. Those who participated in Team Alaska Summer camps and did year-round wrestling training saw more success than those who only wrestled during the high school season
Evaluating Cultural Competency in Health and Exercise Science Education: A Study of College Student Perceptions and Abilities
This dissertation examines the necessity and impact of integrating cultural competence training within a Health and Exercise Science curriculum. Based on participant interviews and IAPCC-SV survey data, critical gaps in current educational practices and proposed strategies for curriculum enhancement were identified. The findings suggest that embedding cultural competency training in all courses, through experiential learning opportunities and continuous professional development, would be most effective in raising future healthcare providers’ confidence in providing culturally sensitive care
The Deep Darkness and Impact on Domestic Violence Victims
Domestic violence is a prevalent challenge worldwide, and the domestic violence statistics are overwhelmingly high. It will move to cover the gaps in literature and then how to apply all of this information to move closer in creating strategies for victims and help them to better their wellbeing. It is important to note the challenge of the stigma that follows with domestic violence. Some believe that in our world that women and children are at fault when violence takes place. Domestic violence is a continual and repetitive behavior that wreaks havoc on all involved; however, it is possible to break the cycle of abuse and allow victims to take back their lives and flourish
The Impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences and Child Protective Services Involvement on Juvenile Delinquency
In this paper, the aim is to study the relationship between adverse childhood experiences and the cause and effect that these experiences have on adolescent behavior that leads to delinquency involvement. Along with this, we will look at the impact of human services professionals, like child protective services, and their impact on these challenging behaviors and goal of decreasing recidivism. We will look at the structure of the juvenile justice system, and how human service professionals play a role in the systems that impact the adolescent delinquency population. There will also be a breakdown of what Adverse Childhood Experiences are the impact on this chosen population. In looking at impacts that trauma experiences have on this population, it will give a clearer insight on how professionals can best support and find more effective ways to reform the way we support the adolescent delinquency population. In responding to needs found in the research, we can also take a look into how human service professionals can better effectively collaborate in finding effective treatment
