Idea of home in memoirs of members of the Czechoslovak Legion
Full text linkThis paper analyses the image of home in memoirs of members of the Czechoslovak Legion. It focuses not only on retrospective memories recorded during the service, but also on introductory, biographical and closing sections that are a part of many memoirs, as well as on the visions of the future free state and home they hoped to return to. The paper utilizes sampling method, picking three memoirs of members of the Legion and submitting to comparison the temporary and situationally diverse ideas of home found in them, as well as their development in time. Upon this sample are then demonstrated the repetitive motives and development tendencies observed in memoirs of members of the Legion and hypotheses are drawn to identify the background and causality of such tendencies. The article concludes with summarizing the results and outlining the possible further research in this yet sparsely researched field

Акцентируется значи- мость литературы как приоритетного вербального "инструмента" проникновения в сферу мистического. В аспекте определения природы и смыслового наполнения понятия "реализм" особо исследуется реали- зация мировоззренческих параллелей между Жоржем Бернаносом и Федором Достоевским на уровне поэтики текста. В качестве показательного образца взят роман французского писателя Sous le soleil de Satan (Под солнцем Сатаны, 1926).The article under studies deals with the issue of connotation of the phenomenon of the "mystical" with literary experience. It outlines the significance of literature as a prevailing verbal "tool" of penetration into the field of the mystical. Particular emphasis in the article has been laid on the implementation of the ideological analogies between Georges Bernanos and Fyodor Dostoevsky at the level of text poetics, in terms of determining the nature and semantic content of the notion of "realism". The French writer\u27s novel Under the Sun of Satan (Sous le soleil de Satan, 1926) has been regarded as an illustrative example
In defence of anarchism : the literature of the Bulgarian anarchist exile after 1944
Full text linkPředkládaná studie pojednává o literatuře bulharského anarchistického exilu v poválečném období s přihlédnutím k jejímu diskurzivnímu ukotvení. Text se pokouší interpretačně uchopit především poetickou tvorbu Stefana Doseva a Aleksandra Christova jakožto periferní, avšak svébytnou poetiku v kontextu bulharské exilové literatury. Poezie je v této souvislosti nahlížena jako osobitá manifestace okrajových diskurzivních praktik uzamčených ve specifickém milieu anarchistické ideologie. Komparativní exkurzy této studie nastiňují některé genetické vazby mezi tvorbou nahlížených básníků-anarchistů a poetikami meziválečné proletářské poezie a tzv. zářijové literatury, která je v bulharském kontextu spojena především s proudy meziválečné avantgardy.This study deals with literature of the Bulgarian anarchist exile in post-war period and its discursive aspects. The text aims to interpret mainly Stefan Dosev\u27s and Aleksandar Hristov\u27s poetry as a marginal, but very distinctive literary works in context of the Bulgarian exile literature. Thus the poetry becomes a peculiar literary manifestation of the ideology of anarchism – a peripheral discursive practice based on a passionate revolutionary struggle for a new world. The comparative aspects of this study deal with observable links between the literary works of the exile poets-anarchists and poetics of interwar Bulgarian literature (including proletarian poetry and so called September literature which is connected with various avant-garde currents in the Bulgarian context)

No full textThe book presents a history of the Department of English and American studies at Masaryk University (Faculty of Arts) in Brno. The narrative is based on the methodology of "oral history". The narrator is Don Sparling, long associated with the department and a former Head. The first chapter covers the foundation by Professor František Chudoba in 1920 and the interwar period. The following chapters deal with three periods: 1945 to 1977 (Don Sparling\u27s arrival in the department); 1977-1989; and the subsequent period down to 2000. The last chapter sums up the history of an important part of life at the department, the Gypsywood Players theatre group. ,Publikace vypráví o historii Katedry anglistiky a amerikanistiky FF MU. Vyprávění je strukturované a je založeno na metodě orální historie. Vypravěčem je Don Sparling, osobnost dlouhodobě spjatá s životem katedry a její bývalý vedoucí. První kapitola líčí vznik Anglického semináře v roce 1920 pod vedením profesora Františka Chudoby a pokračuje popisem meziválečných událostí. Další kapitoly se věnují poválečnému období až do roku 1977 (příchod Dona Sparlinga na katedru), následně osmdesátým létům a době porevoluční do roku 2000. Poslední kapitola shrnuje dějiny významné součásti života katedry, divadelního spolku The Gypsywood Players
