The "Majestätsquaterne" of the Moravian Land Registries : admission to the estates in Moravia after 1628 and written records of them in the years 1642–1852
No full textThe essence of the study is an analysis of the so-called "Majestätsquaterne", special series of the Moravian Land Registers (Landtafeln), which recorded the admission of new members to the community of Moravian land estates in the period 1642–1852. As part of this so-called habilitation process in the land, the applicant had to prove that he had an incolat and aristocratic status (by means of an incolat and ennoblement charter), swear a personal oath of loyalty to the monarch (by means of intimation of the Court Chancery) and submit a binding statement in the written form of Relation to the Land (Revers zum Lande) to the land government (i.e., a written oath to uphold the land\u27s constitution, laws, and customs). The study outlines the habilitation process in the land and then goes on to address: the formal and content aspects of the "Majestätsquaterne"; the role of the court and land administrations involved; and individual depositors and the written material produced by them. It reconstructs the practise of registration and shows the resulting compositional scheme of individual registred documents and their classification according to traditional diplomatic categories, including an evaluation of selected internal and external features

No full textThe County of Vaduz and the Lordship of Schellenberg were granted imperial immediacy by the Emperor as early as the second half of the 14th century. The rulers were entitled to exercise high jurisdiction ("blood jurisdiction"), which was the core of the rights of a sovereign state. Subsequently, the dynasties changed about every hundred years. The imperial privileges were always transferred to the new rulers and were confirmed by the emperor again and again. At the beginning of the 17th century, the Princes of Liechtenstein received the title of Imperial Princes from the Emperor, but this title alone did not yet give them the right to participate in the Imperial Diet. For this they needed a territory that was placed under the direct ("immediate") authority of the Empire. After decades of repeated efforts, Prince Johann Adam I was able to buy the Lordship of Schellenberg in 1699 and the County of Vaduz in 1712. These two domains were located far from their other possessions in Austria, Moravia and Bohemia. They were economically almost insignificant, but they had the status of imperial immediacy. At the request of Prince Anton Florian of Liechtenstein, Emperor Charles VI united the two domains and elevated them to the Imperial Principality of Liechtenstein. This gave the Princes the right for "seat and vote" on the Imperial Diet, and secured them a distinguished place among the high nobility in Vienna

No full textIn a lecture given at the Faculty of Arts of Masaryk University in Brno as part of the "Days of Liechtenstein History in the Czech Republic" event, former Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to the Czech Republic Ferdinand Trauttmannsdorff presented two projects by the Czech-Liechtenstein Commission of Historians. The first concerns the publication of „Fürstenhaus Liechtenstein – Böhmische Länder – Fürstentum Liechtenstein. Ad honorem Thomas Winkelbauer", which was published in the Studia Historica Brunensia journal. Authors from the Czech-Liechtenstein Commission of Historians have published a series of articles dealing with various aspects of the history of the Liechtenstein family and their ties to the Czech Lands, the history of the Principality of Liechtenstein, as well as with some more general topics from European history. The second topic presented was the publication of an English language version of the commission\u27s "Summary Report of the Czech-Liechtenstein Commission of Historians", entitled "Czech-Liechtenstein Relations. Past and Present". The author of the lecture emphasized in particular the passages devoted to the places of Liechtenstein\u27s memory and the construction of various historical stereotypes typical of Czech-Liechtenstein relations over the long run. He also emphasized some of the chances that, in his opinion, an improvement in Czech-Liechtenstein relations and the resolution of issues still considered as unresolved could bring in the future not only to both countries involved, but also to Europe as a whole
The history of the dead God : the genesis of \u27the death of God\u27 in philosophy and literature before Nietzsche
No full textFew of the statements penned by philosophers have become as infamous as the "God is Dead!" of Friedrich Nietzsche. This study is not concerned with the reasons why this phrase is so popular. Instead, I would like to delve into the prehistory and partial genesis of the concept, something Nietzsche adopted from a previous tradition. Apart from known examples of theses on the death of God by Hegel, Schelling or Jean Paul, I will shed light on some of the confusion surrounding the phrase deus est mortuus in Mediaeval Christian liturgical literature and mysticism, with roots reaching back to Neoplatonism. The goal of this study is to point out that this phrase about the death of God had no significant constitutive meaning for Nietzsche but was, instead, a relatively common literary and rhetorical topos among other culturally diagnostic expressive elements. Nietzsche used it as an illustrative shortcut when describing the intercultural processes of his time, with no ambition to originality, instead, with the clear intention of shaking up the (non)thought of the comfortable bureaucrats and legalistic petit bourgeois of Germany in the late 19th century

Chapter II describes Blumenberg\u27s speculative approach to the hypothetical \u27primal scene\u27 of anthropogenesis by linking anthropology and aesthetics
Locus of control analysed with regards to non-traditional tertiary students of education
Get PDFLocus of control, as a psychological characteristic, influences the experience and behaviour of individuals in all life situations, including the moment when an adult enters university and becomes a non-traditional student. Research on the locus of control of students at a faculty preparing experts for educational professions (teachers of all levels, social and special pedagogues, and andragogues) was initiated due to the increasing failure rate of non-traditional students within university efforts to achieve quality in all teaching activities and the need to verify the assumption that most applicants with an internal locus of control (ILC) choose an educational profession requiring management of other people\u27s learning. The Zemanová Dolejš Locus of Control Scale revealed a dominant ILC or external (ELC) localisation of the locus of control in all 411 tertiary students, 152 of whom were non-traditional students. Considering their distribution into ILC and ELC, statistically significant relationships were identified in locus of control according to the form of study. For non-traditional students, no statistically significant relationships were found for age or type or years of study for either ILC or ELC
