EMPOWER platform: an RCT for evaluating the effectiveness of a digital platform for assessing and training executive function and emotion regulation in neurodiverse children

    No full text
Children with neurodevelopmental disorders or conditions (NDD’s) generally show differences in executive functions and emotion regulation, reflected also in their behavioral problems. Serious games represent a new and supportive intervention in handling the difficulties with which children with NDD’s usually confront. Considering this, we created the EMPOWER digital platform, which proposes to assess and train executive functions and emotion regulation strategies in neurodiverse children.unknownothe

The CSIP is a self-report questionnaire used to record interpersonal problems in adults. It is a freely accessible supplement and alternative to the established IIP-C and, like the latter, is based on the Interpersonal Circumplex (IPC). It comprises 64 items, which are assigned to the following eight scales: too autocratic/dominant (PA), too argumentative/competitive (BC), too dismissive/cold (DE), too introverted/socially avoidant (FG), too insecure/submissive (HI), too exploitable/submissive (JK), too caring/friendly (LM), too expressive/intrusive (NO). Reliability: The McDonald's omega values were between ω = .85 and ω = .94. The test-retest correlations were between rtt = .70 and rtt = .87. Validity: There are findings on structural and convergent validity as well as criterion validity.reviewedpublishedVersio

Work on being human (Hominisation according to the Approach of Integrative Therapy). Hominism and Humanism as a Topic of Prison and Camp Literature

    No full text
Through language, humans negociate what being human means. This essay interrogates the role of that process in reading, learning and writing – as well as poetising and writing – under extreme conditions. For people who have been deported, imprisoned and brutalised, their memory and imagination remains their sole means of self-comfort and -affirmation. Through numerous examples, I show how people, even under the most adverse circumstances, strive for their humanity, that is, their own formation, sympathy with peers, and a minimal control over their life, even as their outer world negates their humanity by reducing the person to biological reflexes through torture.https://www.fpi-publikation.de/polyloge/11-2025-iwersen-j-arbeit-am-menschsein-hominisation-nach-dem-ansatz-der-integrativen-therapie-hominitaet-und-humanitaet-als-thema-in-gefaengnis-und-lagerliteratur/peerReviewedpublishedVersio

Wie die Klimakrise unsere psychische Gesundheit bedroht

    No full text

    No full text
Künstliche Intelligenz, Erkenntnistheorie, Emotionserkennung, affektive Datenverarbeitung, klinische Überwachung, Psychotherapie, Psychiatrie, neue MethodenPsychotherapy research is undergoing a fundamental paradigm shift driven by the use of artificial intelligence (AI). While Paul Ekman’s work on emotion recognition was based on the observation and manual coding of facial expressions, AI now enables automated, multimodal analysis of speech, facial expressions, gestures, and emotional dynamics. These technologies allow for the near-complete recording, documentation, and analysis of entire therapy sessions in real time for the first time. This paper examines the transition from Ekman’s methodological approach to AI-supported «total data collection» and analyzes the scientific and clinical implications. Special attention is given to the opportunities arising from high-resolution real-time analysis of therapeutic processes, as well as the risks concerning data privacy and ethical standards. Finally, the discussion addresses how anonymization and strict security measures can ensure the responsible use of sensitive therapy data, unlocking the full potential of these technologies.

Perspectives from Peerspectives: Structured peer review training for early career researchers

    No full text
Peer review is a vital part of academic publishing, yet most scientists receive little or no formal training in how to conduct it effectively. In this talk, we will explain why it is important to begin teaching both the theoretical foundations and the practical skills of peer review early in a scientist’s career. We will introduce Peerspectives, a semester-long, researcher-led peer review training course that partners with scholarly journals. This collaboration allows participants to contribute to real scientific peer review while earning academic credit. Originally designed for early-career researchers in the biomedical sciences, the course creates space for participants to critically examine the scientific publishing system and encourages them to apply what they have learned in their academic studies to evaluate research quality and reporting practices. By gaining a clearer understanding of what editors and reviewers value, participants also strengthen their own scientific writing and communication. We will share findings from our evaluation study of the program, highlight our train-the-trainer workshops and customizable teaching materials, and outline ongoing efforts to expand the course to other disciplines. On September 29th, 2025 Dr. Jessica L.
