TECHNIQUES ARGUMENTATIVES DE DISSOCIATION ET MARQUAGE LINGUISTIQUE (LE CAS DU COUPLE OPINION/VÉRITÉ)
In his Treatise on Argumentation, Perelman suggests there is a relationship between certain linguistic forms and some argumentative strategies. The central question we discuss here is the possibility to systematize Perelman’s linguistic intuitions. This couple opinion/truth was chosen as an example because of the interest Reported Speech has aroused among grammarians. Concretly we propose an inventory of linguistic structures prototypically used to express an opinion/truth dissociation. Taking as a starting point an argumentative strategy (and therefore a discourse strategy), the viewer is led to address grammatical issues from this particular angle. Despite obvious difficulties (adaptation of grammatical approaches to the study of a particular discourse strategy), this specificity may be the value of the approach. For instance, the inventory of the language means which realize an argumentative strategy could present some interest for rhetoric and argumentation teaching

Od „korzeniowych dzieci” do „ziemnych ludków”
From the “Root Children” to “Soil Folks”. The Case of Sibylle von Olfers’ Picturebooks Reception in PolandThe case of direct relation between Maria Konopnicka’s Na jagody! and Elsa Beskow’s Puttes äventyr i blåbärsskogen is well known and widely discussed in literature. Unfortunately, none of the researchers did not pay attention to the fact that in the case of picturebooks, separating the text from the images change the sense and reception of the work. In the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, printers and publishers of children’s literature often modified the foreign texts without giving the name of the author and original title of the book. According to this issue I analysed the relation between Sibylle von Olfers’ Etwas von den Wurzelkindern and Julian Ejsmond’s Baśń o ziemnych ludkach. I focused on the German work. Shorter and simpler text, turned out to be extremely rich and giving great scope for interpretation. In this article I proved that books of Sibylle von Olfers were integrally designed, and that meaning is generated simultaneously from written word, visual images and overall design. Not only words and images, but also cover and endpapers are significant. That is why separating images from words and using them with different text should never have happened
REDUPLICATIVE SYLLABLES IN ROMANCE LANGUAGES
The article deals with the reduplications in Latin and in Romance languages. While in Latin there were only reduplications of monosyllables, Romance languages have a lot of polysyllabic (mostly disyllabic) reduplications. This development could arise due to a bigger expressivity of vulgar Latin mixed with vernacular languages and to their contacts with other languages: Germanic (mostly English and German), Celtic, Slavic, Turkic and Hungarian, in which the polysyllabic reduplication is the most common
Estimation of the logistic regression model for company bankruptcy
Estimated on Poland’s largest known sample, Firth’s logistic regression model which is used for predicting bankruptcy constitutes a unique and specific model which is highly effective in predicting the level of threat to company bankruptcy when compared to other models, used not only in Poland but also abroad
Configuration of a Supply Chain of Metallurgical Products in the Context of the Cooperation Climate
Background. Supply chains are becoming more and more complex systems. This results mainly from the development of network relations at individual stages of value adding. The development of relations in supply chains by network relations created at individual stages of the supply chain is an essential dimension of the configuration of the supply chain. Network relations can be both on the level of distribution and production or supply. Research aims. The aim of the paper is to propose a methodology for appointing the climate of cooperation and connecting the climate of cooperation with the configuration of a supply chain. The detailed aim resulting from the purposeful selection of the supply chain is to indicate key determinants of the configuration of the supply chain of metallurgical products. Methodology. Authors identified determinants of the configuration of the supply chain. Authors defined the climate of cooperation and showed the methodology of appointing him. In supply chains of metallurgical products, a questionnaire with the questionnaire survey method was used to explore the determinants of formation of network relations. Key findings. Determinants rated as stimulators and destimulators appoint the climate of cooperation in a network. Authors indicates variants of configuration of a network supply chain of metallurgical products underlining the key determinants

Rola Funduszu im. dra W. Kretkowskiego w kształtowaniu krakowskiego ośrodka matematycznego
The main purpose of the article is to present the role of the Dr. Władysław Kretkowski Fund in the development of mathematics in Kraków. Kretkowski graduated in mathematics from Sorbonne (1867) and he received his PhD from the Jagiellonian University (1882). He was a private docent at the Polytechnic and University of Lvov. Kretkowski donated his huge fortune to mathematicians in Kraków. From 1911 to 1920 the Kretkowski Fund sponsored very modern mathematical lectures and seminars at the Jagiellonian University. Kretkowski also donated his extensive library for the use of the mathematical seminar in Kraków. This paper lists the lectures financed from the Kretkowski Fund as well as the research fellows of the Fund (with the time and place of studies). This is followed by a presentation of the state of the Kretkowski Library, now the property of the Institute of Mathematics of the Jagiellonian University. The article provides also a brief biography of Władysław Kretkowski (1840–1910).Głównym tematem artykułu jest przedstawienie znaczenia Funduszu im. dra Władysława Kretkowskiego dla rozwoju krakowskiej matematyki. W artykule zostały wymienione wszystkie wykłady opłacone z Funduszu im. doktora Kretkowskiego oraz wszyscy stypendyści (wraz z informacją o miejscu i czasie studiów). Przedstawiono w nim również stan księgozbioru „Biblioteki Kretkowskiego”, który obecnie jest własnością Instytutu Matematyki Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego. Artykuł zawiera też krótką biografię uczonego
Rescuing Cultural Heritage from War and Terrorism: A View from Switzerland
Several reports reveal that trafficking in antiquities has become one of the sources of funding of the “Islamic State of Iraq and Syria”. Switzerland, which is one of the principal markets for articles of archaeological interest, has adopted two pieces of legislation that may play an important role in countering the illicit trade of antiquities smuggled from Iraq and Syria. These are the Federal Law on the Protection of Cultural Objects in the Event of Armed Conflict, Catastrophe and Emergency Situations and the Order Establishing Measures against Syria. The objective of this article is twofold: first, to examine the most relevant aspects of these measures and their implications for art trade professionals and collectors; and second, to demonstrate that Switzerland is now keen to support foreign States’ efforts to protect their cultural patrimony when threatened by war, terrorism, pillage and natural or human-induced disasters
