Thermal analysis of a pm sm using fea and lumped parameter modeling

    Get PDF
Permanent magnet synchronous motors are often used in hybrid electric vehicles due to the high power density. Overheating in a PMSM motor can cause negative effects on the work of permanent magnets and a significant shortening of the life of the machine due to the phenomenon of the thermal ageing of insulation. Therefore, it is extremely important to know the exact temperature distribution in different parts of the electrical machine under various operating conditions. This paper presents a lumped parameter thermal model and FE model of a permanent magnet synchronous motor. A method for the homogenization of a stator winding is also described. In order to validate the accuracy of the calculation results, measurements on the physical model of the machine were carried out

Modelling manoeuvres that may induce side skid in a front-wheel drive car

    Get PDF
The simulation and experimental verification of oversteer inducing manoeuvres are presented. A transient state of oversteering in a front-wheel drive car is initiated only by using steering wheel, throttle and brake inputs. The car’s motion is simulated with a single-track dynamic model with a parameterized input that sufficiently reproduces the behaviour of a front-wheel drive Peugeot 106 XSI (group N). The conclusions may be useful in better understanding complex driving techniques and vehicle dynamics that are not commonly described in basic elaborations

Wet dust collection in sub-zero temperatures

    Get PDF
The results of experimental studies confirm the suitability of non-freezing liquids for use as dust collecting liquids in equipment working at low temperatures. Based on the completed studies, the hypothesis regarding the impact of liquid viscosity on the effect of releasing the surface collecting the dust particles and, therefore, on the efficiency of the dust collection process cannot be clearly verified. Decreasing the efficiency of dust collection correlated with the increase of liquid viscosity is likely an effect of changing the conditions for the formation of liquid dust collectors

Influence of control parameters on properties of the high speed two-phase switched reluctance drive

    Get PDF
Two-phase switched reluctance motors are distinguished by their very simple design and belong to the group of high-speed motors. At high rotational speeds, losses in the core of a 4/2-pole switched reluctance machine are much lower than those occurring in a SRM with a larger number of phases. Unfortunately, a flaw of such a solution consists of a difficulty to obtain the starting torque in certain rotor positions. This occurs in the case of a symmetrical stator and rotor layout. To obtain the starting torque in any rotor position, an asymmetric design of rotor has been employed. In the framework of this study, a simulation model of such a machine was developed with the use of which motor characteristics were obtained for two specific working points, namely for very low and very high rotor speeds. Special attention was also focused on the problem of voltage control at high rotor speeds. On the grounds of the obtained results, an analysis of properties of the examined drive was performed from the point of view of the development of a practical control circuit for a two-phase SRM

    Brutalist games involving physical movement

    Get PDF
Brutalist architecture is widely regarded as gloomy and unfriendly. At its origin was the post-war austerity, but also a fascination with the child and its way of seeing the world. Therefore it is not surprising that the space and forms of brutalist buildings should be perceived by people moving along the routes designed by architects and discovering new views in a dynamic way. This peculiar spatial game is full of surprises and even jokes

Niedaleko pada książka od jabłoni. O symbolach biograficznych dwóch ustrońskich bibliofilów

    Get PDF
The article contains an analysis of autobiographical narratives of Jan Wantuła (1877–1953) and Józef Pilch (1913–1995) – two bibliophiles, amateur historians and folk writers from Ustroń (Cieszyn Silesia). The topic of the analysis are the ways in which they retrospectively structure their lives in the context of being suspended between the time of nature (growth cycle) and culture (historical, involving individuality, but also passing). Their understanding of the nature-culture dichotomy is influenced by their status of being self-taught men, who, aspiring to high culture, kept ennobling (their own) nature in the image of the gardener’s work. The figure of the orchardist (both Pilch and Wantuła were orchardists) belongs to the central symbols on which the representations of the authors’ biographies focus; the others are: apples, books, and the library understood as an interpersonal sphere. From the hermeneutics perspective, the article presents the use of these symbols, and extracts from the analyzed narratives a project of grafting nature and culture together through, on the one hand, grafting trees (literally and metaphorically), and, on the other hand, grafting oneself into books

Investigations of liquid flow velocity in a vibromixer using stereo PIV anemometry

    Get PDF
This paper presents the results of investigations of liquid flow in a vibromixer with a single, reciprocating disc. Measurements were conducted using Particle Image Velocimetry (Stereo PIV). Liquid circulation was analysed for two cases: in a whole mixing vessel; in selected zones of intensive flow, e.g. in a gap between the disc and the tank wall. Results of measurements are presented as vector and contour maps of flow velocity distribution. Also, curves illustrating changes of flow for various instantaneous disc positions are shown. Results presented in this work can be used in practice during designing and design optimization of vibromixers applied in the production of multiphase systems and also for the creation of theoretical foundations for the dispersing of phases using mixing equipment of this kind

An analysis of the influence of selected design and material parameters on high-speed eddy-current brake performance

    Get PDF
This paper presents an analysis of the influence of utilizing rotor materials of different magnetization and conductivity on steady-state torque-speed characteristics for a high-speed eddy-current brake. The analysis involves rotors of different active lengths, with or without axial slits and a copper layer on the surface. The calculations were carried out using two and three-dimensional numerical models, partially verified on the laboratory test-stand

Reflections on Italian architecture of the Renaissance, or a subjective travel journal of an architect

    Get PDF
The academic journey to Italy in 2014 had the merits of the author being able to get to know in person the Italian monuments of Antiquity, Middle Ages and the Renaissance, and to gather original documentation for academic and teaching purposes. There were many themes in the journey that were worth mentioning in the article, but the chosen ones concern the specificity of the architecture of Italian Renaissance period, especially the works of two outstanding representatives: Filippo Brunelleschi and Andrea Palladio. Because of the author’s individual research preferences (history of architecture and architectural research) the choice of works is subjective, but aims at full depiction of the variety of presented themes and the possibility of utilizing them in the didactic process
