Analyzing Customer Satisfaction: Consumer Behavior towards the Selection of Beauty Products in Klang Valley
In Malaysia, the beauty and health industry is growing very rapidly. Malaysians are expected to spend about RM9.61 billion yearly on cosmetics and toiletries products by 2019. Beauty industry becomes prominent in the worldwide market place because of the dynamic involvement of male and female consumers who started to use beauty products more frequently. The patterns of consumer behaviours are always varying, so the marketers require to identify the users’ purchase decision to attract or retain the customers. In addition, customer satisfaction is critical issues to the companies because it can have influences on customer retention. The main purpose of this study is to define the factors that can influence consumer behaviour towards the selection of beauty products. Some of the factors consist of social factor, personal factor, psychological factor, technological factor and Korean Wave influence. Besides that, this study also aimed to determine the satisfaction level of the beauty customers. The outcomes of this study would be beneficial to the marketers to identify the exact factors that can influence the Malaysian’s consumer behaviours towards the beauty products. A descriptive research study was adopted in this research study to analyse research objectives. The respondents were chosen based on two sampling techniques which are convenient sampling and purposive or judgemental sampling. The questionnaire will be used to collect data from the respondents to achieve the research objectives and 213 questionnaires also distributed among the beauty consumers in Klang Valley. Based on the results, the four factors except technological factors have a significant relationship with consumer behaviour towards the selection of beauty products. Moreover, the personal factor is the most influential factor in beauty consumer behaviour. The study also shows that majority of the respondents were satisfied with the beauty products that they purchased or used
Privacy Risk of Personal Information Exposure
Customers’ individual private information are collected to gain valuable information. Through business analytics companies gain competitive advantage in making decisions. However, some irresponsible companies sell customer’s data to third party for illegal activities. This caused distrust and lack of confidence among consumers in revealing their private information. Due to customer reluctant in disclosing their information, this may hinder the growth of e-commerce. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate consumer sensitivity towards data privacy. This research adopted a research framework based on ‘Concern for Information Privacy’ (CFIP) dimensions to further conducted the study. This study has tested relationship using five independent variables. A total number 384 data were collected from respondents using questionnaire. Regression was employed to analyse the relationship between identified variables. Result found that collection, unauthorized secondary internal use, unauthorized secondary external use, improper access and errors have a positive influence on consumer sensitivity towards data privacy. Furthermore, the effects of unauthorized secondary internal use on consumer sensitivity towards data privacy is found to be significantly greater
Power Line Interference Removal from ECG Signal Using Different IIR Filters
Electrocardiogram (ECG) signal is widely and primarily used for diagnosis purpose of various cardiac diseases by the physicians. An ECG records the electrical impulses generated by the myocardium and describes the condition of the heart. A good quality ECG signal is always desirable for accurate diagnosis of a life-threatening patient. However, in real circumstances, these signals are corrupted by prominent noises, artifacts and interference like power line interference (PLI), electrode movement noise, white noise, muscle artifacts, etc., and these must be removed before diagnosis. From the above mentioned artifacts PLI is conspicuously prominent. Different IIR (Butterworth, Notch, and Chebyshev) filters are designed to remove PLI from ECG signal. Through the consecutive employment of these filters, ECG signal will become free from artifacts in a remarkable amount. After exploring the simulation results of both the output waveforms and the values of SNR, it is notified that the Notch filter is the best suited for the removal of PLI. In this paper, a comparative approach is presented for removing PLI from ECG signal using various digital filters
Performance Analysis of EDFA Gain using FBG for WDM Transmission
The paper demonstrates a gain-flattening performance characteristics of Erbium-Doped Fiber Amplifier (EDFA) for C-band application ranges from 1525 nm to 1565 nm. This technique was modeled with eight channel transmissions associated with Wavelength Division Multiplexing that comprises of gain uniformity. Signal amplification process at the input was accomplished of Erbium doped fiber with Non-Uniform Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) and Amplified Spontaneous Emission (ASE). These results showed that the stimulated emission was associated with the least flat amplification and inversely proportional relationship between output signal power and the space separating the gratings in Fiber Bragg Grating. The performance analysis also resembled the dependency of gain on the Doping Concentration, Input Powers, Length of Fibers, Doping Profile of the Erbium Doped Fiber and Windows Wavelength of input signal, which in turn increases the input and output signal power. However, after a reduction in the resultant gain, low noise power of about -60 dBm existed. Lastly, a comparison of different methods for gain flattening was conducted and the results showed high gain modeled with EDFA using FBG. The simulator Optisystem 14.0 was also used to investigate the characteristics of the C-band EDFA using FBG
Crowdfunding for Academic Projects: A Case in Public Universities of Malaysia
This paper analyzed the academic crowdfunding initiatives of public universities in Malaysia. It investigated the effectiveness of academic crowdfunding initiative, focusing on two important issues namely the most critical hurdle that might challenge the crowdfunding initiative, and an overview of the crowdfunding model which could be the strategy to support the academic research funding. A case study of qualitative research method, including semi-structured interview sessions were conducted. The finding yielded that there were five potential challenges and the fraud in crowdfunding was the most critical challenge. Besides, the most suitable crowdfunding model for researchers from public universities of Malaysia was the donation crowdfunding for this model does not include the claim of ownership and it is more suitable for the public universities in Malaysia. This study provides guidelines to academic researchers in the implementation of crowdfunding for their research project and some innovative suggestions to creating the successful crowdfunding campaigns

The Strength of Japanese Companies: A Proposed TQM Framework using Atlas.Ti
Total quality management (TQM) has been implemented because of strong global market rivalry. One of Japanese companies’ strength is TQM practices. Japanese companies have succeeded in global market mainly due to the effective adoption of TQM practices. It is proved that Japanese companies have dominated in much industry such as electrical and electronic, and automotive. Many previous studies discussed about comparing TQM performs between Japanese and non-Japanese companies. However, most of them were given less emphasis on exploring Japanese TQM strength based on relationship diagram amongst TQM, tools and techniques and business performance, which was identified as the theoretical gap. The main impact of this study is to identify the strength of Japanese companies through relationship diagram based on previous works. Qualitative study has been applied using Atlas.ti and meta-analysis. Based on the result, Japanese companies emphasise in application of tools and techniques and human resource developments in their companies. Tools and techniques have relationship between TQM and business performance to succeed higher impact of TQM practices on their business performance. Finally, authors have proposed a conceptual model for understanding the strength of Japanese companies
Detection of Breast Thermograms using Ensemble Classifiers
Mortality rate of breast cancer can be reduced by detecting breast cancer in its early stage. Breast thermography plays an important role in early detection of breast cancer, as it can detect tumors when the physiological changes start in the breast prior to structural changes. Computer Aided Detection (CAD) systems improve the diagnostic accuracy by providing a detailed analysis of images, which are not visible to the naked eye. The performance of CAD systems depends on many factors. One of the important factors is the classifier used for classification of breast thermograms. In this paper, we made a comparison of classifier performances using two ensemble classifiers namely Ensemble Bagged Trees and AdaBoost. Spatial and spectral features are used for classification. Ensemble Bagged Trees classifier performed better than AdaBoost in terms of accuracy of classification, but training time required is higher than AdaBoost classifier. An accuracy of 87%, sensitivity of 83% and specificity of 90.6% is obtained using Ensemble Bagged Trees classifier
2D and 3D Complexity Analysis on MRI Images using Fractal Dimension
The brain, which is the most complex structure in the human body, has attracted attention of many researchers to study the possible fractal analysis application upon it. Current interest is seen directed more towards the utilization of complexity analysis as measured by fractal dimension in determining the pathologies effect and degenerative factor on the brain structure volume. In this paper, we used two boxcounting methods: average 2D Fractal Dimension and 3D Fractal Dimension. 47 subjects (19 males, 28 females), aged ranging from 21 to 25 years, were recruited. Brain MRI images were acquired by using 3T MRI system. The images were then thresholded according to Otsu’s method. The processed images were then calculated using fractal analysis, and the values obtained were statistically evaluated using Pearson’s correlation test (r2 = -0.106, p = 0.477). In conclusion, no correlation was seen between average 2D FD and 3D FD
