Etnomatematika: Eksplorasi Konsep Matematika pada Gerobak Sapi Yogyakarta
Yogyakarta's ox carts, though culturally significant and increasingly rare, have not yet been explored as sources of mathematical concepts. This study addresses the urgency of preserving and utilizing these traditional artefacts as contextual tools for mathematics education. This ethnographic research aims to identify and describe mathematical concepts—geometry, arithmetic, algebra, and statistics—embedded in various parts of the Yogyakarta ox cart. Data were collected through interviews and observations, with the subject being an ox cart craftsman and the object being the mathematical concepts found in the cart’s section. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model. The findings reveal four major mathematical concepts: (1) Geometry, including rectangles, trapezoids, rhombuses, triangles, reflections, translations, rotations, parallel and intersecting lines, angles, and tessellations; (2) Arithmetic, involving arithmetic sequences and division operations; (3) Algebra, in the form of variable terms; and (4) Statistics, represented by the mode topic. These findings contribute to the field of ethnomathematics by introducing a new cultural context and supporting the development of mathematical materials based on local wisdom, making learning more realistic. Integrating local heritage into mathematics instruction can foster a deeper understanding, increased student engagement, and a greater appreciation for cultural diversity, offering meaningful and realistic learning experiences
The Effectiveness of GeoGebra-Assisted Realistic Mathematics Education in Enhancing Students’ Conceptual Understanding
This research studied the application of Realistic Mathematics Education and GeoGebra which could enhance students’ conceptual understanding in mathematics, especially for geometry themes on flat-sided shapes. The study included 26 eighth-grade students of a junior public high school in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The research, which adopted a pre-experimental design with one-group pretest–posttest arrangement, intended to explore the extent of students’ understanding improvement as GeoGebra was implemented in RME-based learning. Two conceptual understanding tests were applied, before and after intervention, alongside observation sheets aimed at monitoring activities in the class. The analysis showed that the average score increased from 47.76% to 80.29%. The test of the paired sample t-test showed a significant difference between the pre- and post-test means. Meanwhile, the N-gain score obtained 0.63, falls within a moderate category regarding effectiveness, while the learning implementation reached 98.33%, categorized as very good. These indicate that integrating RME with GeoGebra enhances accessibility in mathematics concepts to the learners and involves active participation. Limitations, however, include poor pre-knowledge of the students, irregular attendance, and distractions from using mobile phones, probably affecting their engagement and performance. This research studied the application of Realistic Mathematics Education and GeoGebra which could enhance students’ conceptual understanding in mathematics, especially for geometry themes on flat-sided shapes. The Effect of Video Modeling Example, Worked-Example, and Practice Problem on Mathematics Learning
Low learning results, learning motivation, and student confidence are frequently encountered when teaching mathematics in junior high school. To address these issues, it is vital to use learning methods that are appropriate for the student's qualities. The purpose of this study is to investigate and compare the impact of different learning strategies, such as video modelling examples, worked-examples, and practice problems, on students' self-efficacy, motivation, and learning outcomes in the cognitive parts of mathematics teaching. This study used a quantitative methodology and a quasi-experimental design. The study involved eighth-grade pupils from a junior high school in Serang City, who were divided into three classes and given different learning techniques. A learning outcomes exam, a self-efficacy questionnaire, and a motivation survey were used to collect data. To identify significant differences between groups, the obtained data were evaluated using a t-test, one-way ANOVA, and a post hoc Tukey HSD test. The study found that the three strategies had a substantial impact on self-efficacy, motivation, and learning results in the cognitive domain. The practice problem method is more effective at boosting self-efficacy, the video modelling example at raising learning motivation, and the worked example at enhancing learning results in cognitive areas. These findings emphasize the necessity of selecting instructional approaches that are consistent with the targeted learning objectives. Future research should look into the effectiveness of these methods across different topic areas, grade levels, or in combination with other pedagogical approaches to acquire a more complete knowledge of their effects

The Effect of Cinnamon Bark Extract (Cinnamomum burmanii) on Catalase Activity Levels in Hyperglycemic Rats
Background: Hyperglycemic is a condition characterized by elevated blood glucose levels, with serum blood glucose levels exceeding 126 mg/dL. Hyperglycemia can induce oxidative stress. Oxidative stress occurs due to an increase in free radicals or a decrease in antioxidant defense activity. Cinnamon bark can enhance antioxidant levels and decrease indicators of oxidative stress. This study examines the impact of cinnamon bark extract on catalase activity levels in hyperglycemic rats.
Method: This study used an experimental design with a post-test-only group design. The rats were divided into 5 groups, namely the negative control group (K-), the positive control group (K+), treatment group 1 (dose 100 mg/kgBW), treatment group 2 (dose 200 mg/kgBW) and treatment group 3 (dose 300 mg/kgBW) with 6 rats each. The normality test was carried out using the Shapiro-Wilk test followed by One Way ANOVA.
Result: The administration of cinnamon bark extract has been shown to increase catalase activity levels. The most significant increase was observed in dose group 1, with an average of 5.62 Units/mg, which is higher than the control group + (K+), at 3.88 Units/mg.
Conclusion: Administration of bark extract has been shown to increase catalase activity in hyperglycemic Rats
Transformational Leadership and Workload Driving Performance through Innovation and Job Satisfaction in Rural Education
This study examines how transformational leadership and workload drive teacher performance through innovative work behaviour and job satisfaction in a rural educational context. While previous studies have explored these variables separately, empirical evidence integrating leadership, workload, innovation, and satisfaction within rural education settings remains limited. Using a quantitative cross-sectional design, data were collected from 362 teachers in Kerinci District, Jambi Province, Indonesia, and analysed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM). The results show that transformational leadership significantly influences innovative work behaviour (β = 0.386, p < 0.001) and job satisfaction (β = 0.120, p = 0.010). Workload emerges as the strongest predictor of innovative work behaviour (β = 0.578, p < 0.001) and job satisfaction (β = 0.648, p < 0.001). Furthermore, innovative work behaviour (β = 0.171, p = 0.015) and job satisfaction (β = 0.497, p < 0.001) positively affect teacher performance. These findings highlight that teacher performance in rural education is shaped not only by inspirational leadership but also by structured and manageable workloads that foster innovation and satisfaction. This study contributes to leadership and organizational behaviour literature by clarifying the mechanisms through which leadership and workload influence performance in developing-region educational contexts and offers practical implications for school leadership and educational policy
