EXCESSIVE SELF-SACRIFICE VIEWED THROUGH A FEMINIST LENS IN “A STORY FOR CHILDREN” BY SVAVA JAKOBSDOTTIR
The aim of this study is to examine the portrayal of excessive self-sacrifice as patriarchal oppression within the home, as depicted in Svava Jakobsdottir's Story for Children. Using Simone de Beauvoir's existentialist feminist theory, the project investigates how societal expectations progressively deny the mother figure her autonomy and independence. The data source for the study is the short story itself, and the research follows a qualitative descriptive nature. The research examines that the symbolic and physical bequeathing of the mother's heart and mind to the children illustrates how patriarchal cultures kill the female subject. Despite the mother's sacrifices appearing to be noble and selfless, they are unappreciated, unrecognized, and discarded once her role as a member of the family is fulfilled. This analysis concludes that the narrative is a criticism of the harmful normalization of maternal self-denial as a cultural means of limiting women's roles and agency.

COGNITIVE ASPECTS OF TRANSLATORS’ ACTIVITIES IN ENGLISH-INDONESIAN TRANSLATION: AN ANALYSIS OF USING TRANSLOG-II AND THINK-ALOUD PROTOCOL: Inggris
This study investigates the cognitive aspects of translators’ activities by employing Think-Aloud Protocols (TAPs) and Translog-II software to capture real-time decision-making during English–Indonesian translation tasks. The research aims to reveal how translators plan, monitor, and evaluate their work while handling linguistic and conceptual challenges. Data were collected from one professional translator who performed two translation tasks while verbalizing thoughts and recording keystrokes. The findings show that the translator engaged in complex cycles of comprehension, reformulation, and revision that reflect both cognitive and metacognitive strategies. Frequent pauses, revisions, and self-corrections observed through Translog-II indicate moments of metacognitive monitoring, while TAPs revealed the translator’s awareness of lexical and syntactic alternatives. The results highlight the interdependence between cognitive processes and translation strategies, demonstrating how technological tools can provide detailed insight into translators’ mental operations. The study concludes that integrating Translog-II and TAPs enriches cognitive translation research and offers pedagogical value for translator training programs.
TOXIC MASCULINITY PORTRAYED BY HOMELANDER’S CHARACTER IN THE BOYS GRAPHIC NOVEL
This study explores the concept of toxic masculinity as portrayed in The Boys graphic novel, focusing on the character Homelander. Toxic masculinity refers to harmful behaviors and attitudes—such as dominance, violence, and misogyny—that stem from traditional expectations of masculinity. Using theoretical frameworks by Kupers and Connell, the research employs a qualitative descriptive approach, analyzing all seventy-two issues of The Boys. Data were collected through close reading of the graphic novel, review of existing literature, and examination of dialogue that reflects toxic masculinity. The study addresses two research questions: (1) How is toxic masculinity represented through Homelander’s character? and (2) How does toxic masculinity manifest in gender relations within the story? The findings reveal that Homelander embodies three key aspects of toxic masculinity: misogyny, violence, and dominance. These traits are supported by twenty-two textual examples from the graphic novel. Regarding gender relations, the study identifies three patterns shaped by toxic masculinity: power relations, production relations (control over roles and resources), and cathexis (emotional or sexual attachments influenced by dominance). These are illustrated by seven examples from the text. In conclusion, The Boys uses Homelander to vividly depict toxic masculinity and its harmful impact on gender dynamics. The graphic novel thus serves as a critical commentary on destructive masculine norms in contemporary society
GENDERED RESISTANCE AND EMOTIONAL SURVIVAL IN FAIR PLAY (2023) AND MARIE CURIE (2019)
This study examines how gendered power struggles are represented through the female protagonists of Fair Play (2023) and Radioactive (2019). Both narratives center on Emily and Marie Curie who navigate male-dominated professional environments shaped by patriarchal norms and institutional hierarchies. The purpose of this comparative study is to deepen feminist readings of contemporary and historical female figures while fostering critically empathetic engagement with visual narratives. The research utilizes a comparative critical analysis framework, drawing on the theories of Judith Butler, Michelle M. Lazar, and bell hooks to explore how institutionalized misogyny, emotional labor, and resistance are constructed on screen. The findings reveal that both protagonists experience layered forms of marginalization, including workplace bias, emotional burden, and social surveillance. Yet, each asserts agency, Emily through reclaiming her dignity in the corporate world, and Marie Curie through intellectual defiance in academia. This study contributes to feminist film criticism by highlighting the emotional cost of women’s survival within gendered structures and underscoring the need for more intersectional and humanized portrayals of female agency in media
ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNING FROM STUDENTS' PERSPECTIVE: THE ABSENCE OF DIGITAL MEDIA AS A BARRIER TO TEACHING QUALITY
The integration of digital media in English language teaching (ELT) has been widely recognized for improving students’ motivation, engagement, and learning outcomes. However, few studies have examined how students perceive the absence of such media in their classrooms. This study investigated the perceptions of eighth-grade students at SMPN 13 Surabaya regarding the lack of digital media in English language learning. Guided by the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework, this quantitative study employed a structured 20-item questionnaire involving 48 participants. Data were analyzed using validity and reliability tests, descriptive statistics, and Pearson correlation in SPSS version 29. The results showed all items were valid and reliable (Cronbach’s Alpha: 0.824 for Media Use; 0.956 for Teaching Quality). Students generally viewed their teachers’ performance positively (M = 3.11) despite the infrequent use of digital media (M = 3.00). The correlation between media use and teaching quality was positive but very low and not statistically significant (r = 0.168, p > 0.05), possibly due to the small sample size and teachers’ adaptability to conventional methods. These findings highlight that while teacher competence remains central to teaching quality, integrating digital media can further enrich classroom engagement and learning effectiveness.

The participation of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia’s industrial supply chains remains critically low, accounting for only 6.3% of the total 65.5 million MSMEs. This condition highlights the urgency of implementing strategic measures to enhance their integration into the national industrial ecosystem. This study aims to examine the existing conditions of MSME supply chains and to develop an efficient supply chain management (SCM) model aligned with their operational capacities. The research was conducted in two phases: (1) an assessment of current supply chain practices through a survey of 25 MSMEs in the food and handicraft sectors in Batam City, and (2) the design and simulation of an SCM model involving three partner MSMEs. The findings reveal that most MSMEs lack stable supplier networks, do not employ systematic production scheduling, and have yet to adopt information technology in their operations. To address these challenges, a Hybrid Collaborative SCM (HCSM) model comprising five core components was developed. Simulation results indicate significant improvements in delivery lead times, transportation costs, production cycle times, and a reduction in stock-out frequencies, thereby demonstrating the model’s potential to enhance MSME supply chain performance

USULAN RANCANGAN TATA LETAK FASILITAS DENGAN PENDEKATAN ERGONOMI GUNA MENGURANGI AKTIVITAS FISIK DI INDUSTRI MANUFAKTUR BETON PRECAST KOTA CILEGON
The significant development of the manufacturing industry has led to increasingly complex problems that can occur. Inappropriate facility layout can affect excessive physical activity, so that the activities carried out are not optimal. Ergonomic facility layout design directs the arrangement of physical facilities (machines and equipment) to obtain the fastest production process by minimizing physical activity. The precast concrete manufacturing industry in Cilegon City has an area of 623.65 m2, which consists of worker facilities, physical facilities (machines and equipment) and structural position facilities. Environmental conditions that are less flexible and poor placement between facilities (far from the reach of their duties) greatly affect workers' physical activity. This, intends to propose a facility layout design with an ergonomic approach using several CORELAP (Computerized Relation Layout Planning) and ARC (Activity Relation Chart) methods. The conclusions from this processing and analysis are based on proximity codes A, E, I U and O.

ANALISIS WORK-RELATED MUSCULOSKELETAL DISORDERS (WMSDS) PADA OPERATOR MANUFAKTUR ELEKTRONIK DENGAN PENDEKATAN NORDIC BODY MAP (NBM) & QUICK EXPOSURE CHECKLIST (QEC)
This study comprehensively evaluates the risk of Work-Related Musculoskeletal Disorders (WMSDs) among production operators at PT EMS, a company engaged in electronics manufacturing. Utilizing a mixed-methods ergonomic approach, the research employed the Nordic Body Map (NBM) to measure operators' subjective complaint levels and the Quick Exposure Checklist (QEC) to assess objective posture-related exposure risks. Analysis of NBM data revealed that the Printing station exhibited the lowest average complaint levels (5.6 total average complaints per operator), indicating better ergonomic conditions. Conversely, Wave Solder and Cutting Point operators reported the highest average total complaints (11.9 and 11.6, respectively), with the Wave Solder station registering the highest proportion of "Severe Pain" cases. The QEC analysis, which focused on the worst-case operator exposure, identified the Wave Solder station as the most critical, yielding the highest Exposure Score of 88% (Action Level 4), followed closely by Printing (78%) and Cutting Point (74%). The body parts most susceptible to injury across these high-risk stations were the Back (QEC score 44), Wrist (40), and Shoulder/Arm (36). The findings confirm that prolonged static posture, repetitive movements, and manual material handling are primary contributors to WMSDs prevalence. Immediate interventions are highly recommended, specifically the provision of push assistance tools, elbow supports, and footrests at the workstation to mitigate exposure risk and enhance occupational health. This study comprehensively evaluates the risk of Work-Related Musculoskeletal Disorders (WMSDs) among production operators at PT EMS, a company engaged in electronics manufacturing.
