THE EFFECT OF SUPERVISION, PROFESSIONALISM AND TEAMWORK ON EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE OF PT. SARANA ABDI BAHAGIA MEDAN
Get PDFThis study aims to analyze the influence of supervision, professionalism, and team collaboration on employee performance at PT. Sarana Abdi Bahagia Medan. The sample consisted of 37 respondents. The research employed a descriptive quantitative approach using multiple linear regression analysis. The results indicate that supervision, professionalism, and team collaboration simultaneously have a significant impact on employee performance. Individually, each variable also contributes to performance improvement. The adjusted R square value of 0.584 implies that 58.4% of the variability in employee performance can be explained by the three variables, while the remaining 41.6% is influenced by other factors not examined in this study. Therefore, it can be concluded that supervision, professionalism, and team collaboration play a substantial role in enhancing employee performance at PT. Secara parsial terlihat masing-masing variabel pengawasan profesionalisme dan kerjasama tim memiliki pengaruh terhadap kinerja karyawan pada PT. Sarana Abdi Bahagia Medan. Hasil statistik koefisien determinasi yaitu terbukti bahwa nilai adjusted R square yaitu 0,584, yang berarti bahwa 58,4% kinerja dapat dijelaskan variasi pengawasan, profesionalisme dan kerjasama tim sedangkan sisanya 41,6% dapat dijelaskan oleh faktor-faktor lain yang tidak diteliti dalam penelitian ini, artinya terdapat kontribusi yang akurat variabel pengawasan, profesionalisme dan kerjasama tim terhadap terjadinya kinerja karyawan PT Sarana Abdi Bahagia Medan karena nilai adjusted R square > 0,

No full textThis study aims to critically examine Joseph Conrad’s Lord Jim through the lens of Edward Said’s theory of Orientalism, focusing on how the novel represents the East as subordinate to Western ideological and moral authority. Employing a qualitative literary analysis, this research explores narrative structure, characterization, and setting to reveal how the novel systematically marginalizes Eastern voices and constructs the East as a passive backdrop for the psychological and moral journey of the Western protagonist, Jim. Key findings show that the Indigenous characters in Patusan are denied subjectivity and interiority, their perspectives filtered entirely through the Western narrator, Marlow. The narrative elevates Jim to a position of moral superiority and leadership, reinforcing colonial myths of the “white savior” and the supposed dependency of Eastern societies on Western governance. The absence of Eastern perspectives in the novel underscores the epistemological dominance of the West, making Lord Jim not a true intercultural dialogue, but a monologue that serves Western self-definition. The study concludes that Conrad’s novel, despite its literary complexity, perpetuates Orientalist discourse by silencing the East and reinforcing hierarchical binaries between the West and the non-West. Future research is encouraged to compare such colonial narratives with postcolonial works that reclaim indigenous voices.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis novel Lord Jim karya Joseph Conrad melalui pendekatan teori Orientalism yang dikembangkan oleh Edward Said, dengan fokus pada bagaimana narasi novel membingkai Timur sebagai entitas pasif yang tunduk pada otoritas moral Barat. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan analisis teks sastra, serta menekankan pada strategi naratif dan representasi ideologis dalam struktur cerita. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa meskipun Lord Jim sering dibaca sebagai eksplorasi psikologis tokoh Barat, novel ini secara sistematis menghilangkan suara tokoh-tokoh Timur dan menjadikan masyarakat lokal sekadar latar eksotik bagi krisis moral protagonis. Representasi tersebut memperkuat mitos "white savior" dan menggambarkan bahwa hanya Barat yang mampu membawa peradaban dan keadilan. Dengan demikian, penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa Lord Jim tidak hanya merefleksikan wacana kolonial, tetapi juga secara aktif mereproduksi struktur orientalis yang meneguhkan dominasi Barat atas Timur

Get PDFThis research aims to analyze the journey of the main character, Scarlett, in Caraval by Stephanie Garber using Joseph Campbell’s Hero’s Journey theory. It focuses on identifying the stages present in the novel and how they contribute to Scarlett’s character development. This research applies to Joseph Campbell’s (2020) Hero’s Journey theory. The primary data source is Caraval, a fantasy novel by Stephanie Garber. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method, as defined by Litosseliti (2010) and Bogdan & Biklen (2007), which focuses on analyzing textual data in depth. The data collection follows Bowen (2009) library research approach and uses Leavy (2017) highlighting technique to categorize relevant text. The analysis applies Campbell (2020) Hero’s Journey framework and follows (Ratna, 2020) descriptive interpretation method to interpret the narrative structure and character development. The findings show that thirteen out of the seventeen stages of the Hero’s Journey are reflected in Scarlett’s journey, while four stages do not appear in the story. These results indicate that Caraval partially follows the traditional Hero’s Journey structure and demonstrates how this narrative pattern can be adapted in modern fantasy literature with a female character.Penelitian ini menerapkan teori Hero’s Journey (Perjalanan Pahlawan) dari Joseph Campbell untuk menganalisis perjalanan tokoh utama, Scarlett, dalam novel Caraval karya Stephanie Garber. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif untuk mengidentifikasi dan mengkaji tahapan Separation, Initiation, dan Return yang dialami oleh Scarlett. Data dikumpulkan melalui studi pustaka dan dianalisis secara deskriptif untuk menginterpretasikan temuan berdasarkan kerangka Hero’s Journey dari Campbell.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari tujuh belas tahap dalam Hero’s Journey, hanya terdapat tiga belas tahap yang muncul dalam novel, sementara empat tahap tidak terjadi sepanjang cerita. Penelitian ini memberikan perspektif baru dan mendalam tentang bagaimana struktur Hero’s Journey tercermin dalam sebuah novel fantasi modern dengan tokoh utama perempuan. Diharapkan penelitian ini dapat menjadi referensi yang bermanfaat dan bernilai bagi peneliti selanjutnya yang tertarik menerapkan pendekatan Hero’s Journey pada karya sastra atau media lain seperti film, cerpen, maupun novel
ANALYSIS OF WORK ENVIRONMENT AND WORK MOTIVATION ON EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE AT GUNAWANGSA MANYAR APARTMENT IN SURABAYA

Work environment and motivation are considered strategic factors that determine the effectiveness and productivity of human resources, especially in the service industry which demands high quality service. This study uses a quantitative approach with a descriptive method. Primary data were collected through a questionnaire distributed to 27 permanent employees using total sampling technique. The research instruments were tested for validity and reliability, then analysed using multiple linear regression assisted by SPSS. The results show that the work environment and work motivation have a positive and significant effect on employee performance, both partially and simultaneously. The work environment variable is the most dominant factor affecting performance compared to work motivation. The coefficient of determination (R²) value of 0.901 indicates that 90.1% of the variation in employee performance is explained by these two variables. THE INFLUENCE OF DIGITAL LITERACY AND ENTREPRENEURIAL ORIENTATION ON BUSINESS DECISION MAKING AMONG DIGITAL MSMES IN BATAM CITY
Get PDFThe rapid development of digital technology has encouraged Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to adapt their business activities, particularly in the process of business decision-making. Digital literacy and entrepreneurial orientation are important factors that influence the quality of business decisions in digital MSMEs. This study aims to analyze the effect of digital literacy and entrepreneurial orientation on business decision-making among digital MSMEs in Batu Aji District. This research employs a quantitative approach using a survey method involving 100 digital MSME owners as research respondents. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression techniques. The results indicate that digital literacy has a positive and significant effect on business decision-making. Entrepreneurial orientation also has a positive and significant effect on business decision-making. Simultaneously, digital literacy and entrepreneurial orientation significantly influence business decision-making among digital MSMEs in Batu Aji District. These findings suggest that improving digital literacy and strengthening entrepreneurial orientation play a crucial role in supporting more effective and strategic business decision-making. This study is expected to provide insights for MSME actors and policymakers in formulating strategies and programs for the development of digital MSMEs at the district level.
 
SISTEM PAKAR DIAGNOSA KESEHATAN MENTAL MENGGUNAKAN METODE NAÏVE BAYES BERBASIS ANDROID

This development of an Android-based expert system is aimed at diagnosing mental health issues, specifically depression, in individuals aged 15 to 25. The system integrates Naïve Bayes and forward chaining methods to analyze symptom data and health history, classifying the severity of depression into mild, moderate, and severe categories. The development process includes data analysis, information gathering through interviews and literature studies, as well as creating a user-friendly application prototype. Testing results indicate that the system provides accurate and rapid diagnoses, helping users understand their mental health conditions, enhancing accessibility to diagnosis, reducing stigma, and supporting the prevention and management of depression more effectively
ANALISIS PENGENDALIAN KUALITAS PRODUK PIVOT PLATE PADA PROSES ASSEMBLY DI PT SIMATELEX MANUFAKTUR BATAM
Get PDFPT Simatelex Manufacturing, located in Batamindo Industrial Park, Batam, specializes in producing household appliances, beauty tools, and robotics. Among the key components they assemble is the pivot plate, which which works as a filter, opener, pod wrapper, and hot water channel. The issue explored in this research is the defect rate of pivot plates, which often surpasses the company’s acceptable limit of 1%. The goal of this study is to assess the pivot plate’s quality, uncover the root causes of defects, and offer solutions to minimize them. To do this, researchers used the Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) method, along with supporting tools such as the 5W+1H approach, P charts, and a fishbone diagram. The analysis revealed several main causes: overheating machines (RPN 288), workers rushing during tasks (RPN 192), product build-up (RPN 150), inefficient workstation layout (RPN 180), and fragile materials (RPN 144). To reduce these issues, the study suggests routine machine maintenance, clear work instructions, improved layout planning, and material inspections every two hours by QC. These strategies aim to lower the defect rate and enhance the overall quality of the pivot plate, contributing to better production performance
RANCANG BANGUN APLIKASI E-FACILITY PLANT BERBASIS LARAVEL DI PT PHILIPS INDUSTRI BATAM
Get PDFThis research addresses the challenges of conventional facility reporting and inspection at PT Philips Industri Batam, characterized by slow data access, limited real-time monitoring, and hindered decision-making. The primary objective was to design and develop an E-Facility web application utilizing Laravel and Filament to digitalize facility management and provide real-time monitoring capabilities. Employing a Research and Development (R&D) methodology , the study involved comprehensive analysis, system design (including UML modeling), implementation, and rigorous testing through Black Box and User Acceptance Testing. The research findings demonstrate significant improvements in operational productivity. Notably, login time reduced to 5 seconds, and data input time decreased from 1 minute to 10 seconds. Data accuracy significantly improved, with data availability transforming from hours of physical search to under 5 seconds. Furthermore, the system optimized resource utilization, leading to nearly zero paper usage for forms and reducing report generation time from hours to minutes. This indicates a potential 15-25% reduction in overall operational costs. In conclusion, the E-Facility application successfully digitalized the facility management process, offering an optimal, precise, and responsive solution in line with Industry 4.0 digitalization initiatives
ANALISIS PENGENDALIAN KUALITAS PROSES WIREBOND ALU PADA PT. XYZ BATAM
Get PDFThis study was conducted at PT. XYZ Batam to analyze defects in the aluminum wire bonding process using the Orthodyne 7200 machine. The objective is to identify the most frequent defects, determine their root causes, and provide improvement recommendations. The methodology applied includes Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) to calculate the Risk Priority Number (RPN), and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) to trace the root causes. The results indicate that defects such as Lifted Bond on Die and Non-Stick Wedge on Lead have the highest RPN scores. The main contributing factors are suboptimal machine parameters, including bonding pressure, temperature, and ultrasonic frequency. Recommended improvements focus on better parameter control and enhanced operator training. This study is expected to support the company’s goal of achieving through more effective process control
PERANCANGAN SISTEM MONITORING KELEMBAPAN TANAH PADA TANAMAN CABAI BERBASIS INTERNET OF THINGS
Get PDFChili plants require proper and consistent irrigation to ensure healthy growth and optimal crop yields. However, in many agricultural settings, especially in small to medium-scale farming, the absence of a real-time monitoring system often leads to under-watering or over-watering. These issues can result in wilting, root damage, or even crop failure. To address this challenge, this study presents the development of a soil moisture monitoring system based on the Internet of Things (IoT). The system integrates a soil moisture sensor (YL-69), NodeMCU ESP8266 microcontroller, and the Blynk mobile application. The NodeMCU acts as the main controller that receives data from the sensor, processes it, and transmits the information to the Blynk platform via Wifi.The Blynk app provides a user-friendly interface that displays soil moisture conditions in real-time. Moisture levels are categorized into three conditions: dry (<50%), normal (50–70%), and wet (>70%). A Gauge widget shows the moisture percentage visually in analog form, while the SuperChart logs the historical moisture data. When moisture falls below 50%, the system triggers a notification alert to the user. The test results demonstrate accurate sensor readings, real-time data transmission, and effective notification delivery. Overall, this system enhances irrigation decision-making and helps farmers maintain optimal soil moisture, thereby improving the sustainability and productivity of chili cultivation
