No full textFemizide stehen an der Spitze des Kontinuums geschlechtsspezifischer Gewalt und stellen ein gesellschaftspolitisch hochrelevantes Thema dar. Insbesondere im österreichischen Kontext zeigen sich hinsichtlich der Häufigkeit und der medialen Darstellung von Femiziden bedenkliche Entwicklungen. Die vorliegende Arbeit untersucht, welchen Einfluss das Framing von Femiziden in der medialen Berichterstattung auf die emotionale Reaktion und die Tendenz zur Opferbeschuldigung der Leser*innen in Österreich ausübt. Es wurde angenommen, dass verharmlosende Frames („Beziehungsdrama“) die emotionale Reaktion im Vergleich zu adäquaten Frames („Mord“ bzw. „Femizid“) abschwächen, während die Tendenz zur Opferbeschuldigung zunimmt. Geschlecht und individuelle Ausprägungen von Sexismus wurden als Moderatorvariablen betrachtet. Im Rahmen einer Online- Vignettenstudie mit drei unterschiedlich geframten Zeitungsartikeln wurde eine empirische Untersuchung mit N = 263 Teilnehmenden durchgeführt. Die Ergebnisse zeigten, dass die unterschiedlichen Framing-Bedingungen keine signifikanten Effekte auf die emotionale Reaktion und die Tendenz zur Opferbeschuldigung der Rezipient*innen hatten. Es konnten jedoch signifikante Zusammenhänge zwischen dem Geschlecht und der emotionalen Reaktion sowie zwischen den Ausprägungen im hostilen Sexismus und der emotionalen Reaktion festgestellt werden. Die Ergebnisse werden im Hinblick auf praktische Implikationen sowie methodische Limitationen diskutiert. Darüber hinaus wird ein Ausblick auf zukünftige Forschungsansätze gegeben.Femicide represents the most extreme form on the continuum of gender-based violence and poses a highly relevant socio-political issue. Particularly in the Austrian context, concerning developments can be observed regarding both the prevalence and the media representation of femicides. This thesis investigates the influence of the framing of femicides in media reporting on the readers’ emotional reaction and their tendency towards victim blaming in Austria. It was hypothesized that downplaying frames (“relationship drama”) would lead to a weaker emotional reaction compared to accurate frames (“murder” or “femicide”), whereas the tendency to blame the victim would increase. An empirical online vignette study was conducted, in which three differently framed newspaper articles were presented to N = 263 participants. The results revealed no significant effects of the different framing conditions on the participants’ emotional reaction or their tendency to blame the victim. However, significant associations were found between the participants’ gender and their emotional reactions, as well as between their level of hostile sexism and their emotional reactions. The findings are discussed in terms of practical implications and methodological limitations. No full textDiese Arbeit befasst sich mit der Erstellung für die Grundlage eines digitale Zwillings des Scientific Brewhouse der FH Campus-Wien nach Standards der Industrie 4.0. Dieser Grundlagenzwilling bietet eine Plattform für weitere Forschungsprojekte speziell für Thematiken rund um Industrie 4.0 und 5.0 und kann von mehreren Fachbereichen genutzt werden. Der Zwilling wird mit der Software Siemens SIMIT umgesetzt und ist über die Struktur von SIMIT modular aufgebaut. Zudem beschäftigt sich diese Arbeit mit den Herausforderungen und Limitationen, die beim nachträglichen Erstellen eines digitalen Zwilling für eine Kleinanlage entstehen, und bewertet alternative Programme zur Umsetzung. Abschließend wird aufgezeigt, wie Projekte wie dieses Ausbildung und Forschung in den Bereichen Industrie 4.0 und interdisziplinäres Arbeiten an universitären Einrichtungen verbessern können.This thesis deals with the creation of a digital twin for the Scientific Brewhouse of the University of Applied Sciences Campus Vienna, according to Industrie 4.0 standards. This basis of a twin offers a platform for further research projects specifically for topics related to Industrie 4.0 and 5.0 and can be used by several departments. The twin is implemented using the Siemens SIMIT software, which gives it a modular structure. In addition, this thesis deals with the challenges and limitations that arise when creating a digital twin for a small plant in retrospect and evaluates alternative programs for implementation. Finally, it shows how projects like this can improve education and research in the areas of Industrie 4.0 and interdisciplinary work at university institutions
Digital Twin – Brewery 4.0 Mashing, Lautering & Wort-Boiling
No full textDiese Bachelorarbeit befasst sich mit der digitalen Abbildung der Brauprozesse Maischen, Läutern und Würzekochen in der Versuchsbrauerei der FH Campus Wien. Ziel war die Entwicklung eines digitalen Zwillings mithilfe der Simulationssoftware SIMIT, um zentrale Prozessabläufe realitätsnah zu modellieren. Nach einem nicht erfolgreich abgeschlossenen Versuch zur Erstellung eigener Komponenten mit dem Component Type Editor wurde ein funktionsfähiges Flownet-Modell in SIMIT SP aufgebaut. Die Simulation umfasst Temperaturregelung, Zeitmessung, Sicherheitsfunktionen sowie eine interaktive Bedienoberfläche. Ein realer Brautag diente der Überprüfung und praxisnahen Validierung der Ergebnisse. Das Modell ermöglicht Schulungen, virtuelle Inbetriebnahmen und stellt eine erweiterbare Grundlage für weitere Prozessschritte dar.This Bachelor's thesis focuses on the digital representation of the brewing processes of mashing, lautering, and wort boiling in the test brewery at FH Campus Wien. The goal was to create a digital twin using SIMIT simulation software to realistically model central process sequences. Following an unsuccessful attempt to create components with the Component Type Editor, a functional Flownet model was created in SIMIT SP. The simulation includes temperature control, time measurement, safety functions, and an interactive user interface. The results were checked and validated using a real brewing day. The model enables training and virtual commissioning, as well as providing an expandable basis for further process steps

Off Campus: Seggau School of Thought / The Power of Language and Emotion in War Reporting on the 2023 Israel-Hamas War
No full textCritical discourse analysis (CDA) is an expedient methodological tool when evaluating bias or underlying agendas used by media outlets and analyzing the influence language has on audience perspective. This study employs CDA to scrutinize the discursive techniques in The Jerusalem Post and WAFA, two news outlets selected for their conflicting Israeli and Palestinian audiences. Eighteen articles were examined, with one article from each outlet covering nine significant events of the Israel-Hamas War dating from October 7, 2023 until June 10, 2024. The analysis focused on the discursive techniques of using emotionally charged adjectives and portraying certain entities as the actor in various articles. Emotionally charged language was present in every article; however, while seven of the nine events were described using negative language to depict the “enemy,” there were two outlier events which focused on cooperation and peace talks that were described using neutral and positive language. Previous research from various scholars demonstrated that similar discursive practices of “othering” and “dehumanizing” language produce emotional responses from the audience that are congruent with the tone of the article and which inspire audience support for the article’s position. The findings of this study, in conjunction with existing scholarly research, suggest that discursive techniques in war reporting on the Israel-Hamas War have the potential to influence audience attitudes surrounding the conflict. Findings support the importance of objectivity in the media and understanding when biases in war reporting may occur
Off Campus: Seggau School of Thought / Reimagining EFL Teacher Wellbeing: Journaling as an Empowering Tool for Reflection and Resistance
No full textNowadays, English as a foreign language (EFL) teachers face an increasing amount of pressure within the educational system, marked by standardized, rigid curricula and extensive administrative demands. The constant need to suppress their own voices while trying to address those challenges contributes to heightened stress and job dissatisfaction, often resulting in burnout that decreases their passion for teaching and affects the quality of education they provide. In this demanding environment, it is crucial to adopt practices that would support teacher wellbeing and build their resilience. This paper examines how journaling, or diary keeping, provides EFL teachers with an effective tool for maintaining their wellbeing. Within this private safe space for self-reflection, educators can explore and express their emotions, frustrations, fears, and hopes without external judgement, and are encouraged to question and potentially disrupt the norms that limit their professional autonomy and creativity. By providing examples from EFL teachers’ experiences, this study claims that diary keeping serves not only as a method of self-care, but also as a powerful form of resistance against the overwhelming demands of contemporary education. It also highlights the importance of prioritizing teacher wellbeing through a more sustainable, human-centered approach in which teacher voices are valued and protected
