CO2 transformation to MeOH using high entropic oxide catalysts
To address stability issues caused by sintering of Cu based catalysts for methanol synthesis, a high entropy concept was applied to develop improved catalysts for CO2 hydrogenation. By applying at least five different materials in a single phase, an entropy driven stabilisation is achieved in a high entropic oxide. Initially, screening experiments of material combinations consisting of Pd and Cu on oxide supports comprising variations of Al, Ce, In, Nb, Zn, and Zr were performed. A strong dependence of the methanol yield on the material combinations was determined. From these experiments, the combination of PdCu2/AlCeZnZrOx was determined to have the best performance. Further optimisation of this catalyst revealed that increasing the Cu content and removing Pd significantly enhances the catalyst performance. With a higher Cu content, characterisation of the catalysts revealed that Cu agglomerates on the surface leading to a decrease in stability. Variation of the molar composition and activation of the catalyst before the reaction were identified as two possibilities to counteract sintering of Cu and increase the catalyst stability. Experiments with different promoter materials revealed that the addition of small amounts of Ca to the catalyst leads to an increase in performance by about 10 %.Author Florian Kühberger, BScMasterarbeit Johannes Kepler Universität Linz 202

Background: Internalized shame is considered a particularly aversive self-related emotion that can lead to a range of negative consequences, such as the negative evaluation of the global self. It is associated with destructive thought and behaviour patterns (e.g. social withdrawal) as well as with clinical disorders like depression, anxiety, and personality disorders. Various forms of shame have been researched in the context of relational aspects, for example regarding parents or within intimate partnerships. However, after an extensive literature review, no studies could be identified that examine internalized shame in the context of the entire social network.
Method: This study investigates the relationships and effects of different relational aspects on internalized shame through a mixed-methods design. In addition to structural features of the social network, the relationship contexts of family, friendships, acquaintances, partnerships, and group membership were considered. Internalized shame was assessed using the Internalized Shame Scale (ISS) with a sample of 44 participants. In addition, demographic data, information on relationship quantity and quality and participants' sociograms were gathered. Furthermore, eight semi-structured interviews were conducted.
Results: No correlation was found between internalized shame and the quantity of the social network. Instead, the sociograms and interviews emphasize the importance of relationship quality and certain structural features, such as the role of self-chosen relationships and the interconnectivity of the network. Internalized shame showed significant associations with aspects of family and friendship contexts. The quality of the relationship with the mother and the satisfaction with friendships were identified as predictors, with the former serving as a risk factor and the latter as a protective factor. The interviews additionally highlighted the importance of experiencing understanding, acceptance, encouragement, and connection for alleviating internalized shame.
Discussion: The results of this study suggest that the quality of the social network, as well as family and friendship relationships, play a key role in the experience of internalized shame. Given contradictory results and limitations due to the study design, the findings regarding other relationship contexts should be examined more thoroughly.
To draw well-founded conclusions, it is recommended to deepen this exploratory overview through further empirical studies.Anja DreßelAbstract in englischer SpracheMasterarbeit Universität Innsbruck 202
Helium Nano-Droplets as Model-Reactors for New Energy Production and Storage Materials : A study on the size-dependent catalytic and electronic properties of clusters
The ever-increasing need for new, sustainable energy production and storage methods is drawing the focus of extensive research onto alternative routes based on customisable nanomaterials for novel catalytic applications. This dissertation explores helium nanodroplets (HNDs) as unique model reactors for probing the stability and efficiency of catalytically active sites and adsorption mechanisms with single-atom precision. Specifically, multiply charged HNDs prove to be a unique tool for generating size-specific clusters and nanoparticles with unprecedented control over size and composition.
The work presented herein comprises three complementary publications. The first study investigates the binding of carbon dioxide on cationic copper clusters by utilising HNDs for highly efficient He-tagged action spectroscopy and high-level quantum chemical methods. Observation of the asymmetric stretching vibration of carbon dioxide not only reveals a consistent blue shift in the vibrational frequency relative to the gas phase but also pinpoints its dependence on the size of the copper cluster. This indication for bond activation is predominantly attributed to polarisation-enhanced physisorption rather than classical charge transfer mechanisms.
The second and third studies present the first experimental confirmation of sodium enhanced hydrogen adsorption on polyaromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). By combining mass spectrometry measurements with density functional theory and state-of-the-art
quantum chemical calculations, it is demonstrated that sodium doping dramatically enhances hydrogen binding on PAHs, which serve as a model system for graphene-based hydrogen storage materials. The observation of magic numbers and a corresponding systematic shift in evaporation energies emphasises the critical role of a system’s size and composition on its stability.
The multifaceted approach of combining the unique properties of multiply charged HNDs with rigorous quantum chemical modelling not only yields new insights into size-dependent catalytic and adsorption phenomena at the atomic level but also paves the way for the rational design of functional nanomaterials for clean energy production.Dissertation Universität Innsbruck 202

Crosscultural Studies of Religion and Theology / A look back, a look forward: between two anniversaries of Nostra Aetate. Theological & Cultural Studies perspectives on the history of its reception
This article examines an analysis of the 50th anniversary of the Second Vatican Council, in particular the document Nostra aetate, which deals with the Church’s attitude towards other religions. In its reception, a distinctive rhythm of 10-year anniversaries emerges. From a cultural studies perspective, these temporal rhythms function as a strategy to preserve the identity and significance of an event as it recedes into the past. In Jewish-Christian dialogue, this rhythm of intensified reception becomes evident. Following an introduction, I will present four theoretical perspectives from cultural studies as a framework for the analysis of selected texts on the 50th anniversary of Nostra aetate: The Gifts and Calling of God Are Irrevocable (2015) and the Jewish-Orthodox documents To Do the Will of Our Father in Heaven (2015) and Between Jerusalem and Rome (2017). The article reflects on recent developments in Catholic-Jewish relations. It thus investigates the reception process, with a particular focus on the theologicallyproductive power inherent in anniversaries as identity markers and reference points for reactions from other religious communities. By offering a cultural studies perspective on jubilees, this study aims to provide insights into the complex and often political nature of reception processes, contributing to a deeper understanding of the Council’s legacy as we approach its 60th anniversary. The analysis shows that although the jubilees of the Council may at first seem to be concerned only with the commemoration of the past, they have asignificant impact on present and future. As the final theological conclusions will demonstrate, the reception of Nostra aetate exemplifies this, illustrating the diversity of expectations within the Church and how interpretations have evolved, particularly in the context of interreligious dialogue. The anniversaries of the Second Vatican Council provide an opportunityfor reflection and evaluation of the extensive and ongoing transformationthat it has brought about. Scholars are currently engaged in research on new sources and diverse international interpretations of the Second Vatican Council, with the aim of gaining a deeper understanding of its impact. This article makes a contribution to this field of research by offering insights into the specific field of reception studies, namely the research on anniversaries
