Mirror
Yuxuan Wang - “Mirror”: This picture was taken on the Lofoten Islands in Norway. It was picturesque, the beauty of these islands was simple, pure and breathtaking. It was hard to describe with words, so I chose to capture it with my camera. Five minutes after I took this picture, a boat came across on the little river, and the water surface was never a perfect mirror for the sky and mountain again. “Fairies Under Water”: These jellyfish in the picture are moon jellyfish from Aquarium of the Bay in San Francisco. The colorful lights in the water made the tank look like a place that only appeared in dreams. When the jellyfish swam up and down along with the water wave, like the fairies who lived in the wonderland

AI-Human Collaboration Via EEG
As AI becomes ever more competent and integrated into our lives, the issue of AI-human goal misalignment looms larger. This is partially because there is often a rift between what humans explicitly command and what they actually mean. Most contemporary AI systems cannot bridge this gap. In this study we attempted to reconcile the goals of human and machine by using EEG signals from a human to help a simulated agent complete a task
“Body goals”: Exposure to idealized, popular media images can affect body satisfaction ratings
College students are exposed to media many times throughout their day. Studies have shown that there are many negative correlations between students and their comparison of their bodies to others. In this study, it was tested to see if viewing mass media images for a while can affect the way people rate their body satisfaction and whether or not they would change their body. There were 20 people tested in this study. There were 10 people in the control group, and 10 people in the experimental group. The experimental group was required to watch a slideshow with 4 different pictures of health magazine covers then take a short body satisfaction survey, whereas the control group just completed the survey. It was found that there was no significance between the two groups and their group means were basically the same. Lack of significance could be caused by the small sample size or lack of time spent looking at the media images. This study can be built on in the future to add more people and expand to a more diverse sampling. In general, this study has not compared to other studies on the same topic but the method can be used to form a different study
Christians, Pagans, and Death
It is commonly believed that Christianity was a new and original religion, but in fact, many pagan religions contributed to Christianity\u27s ideology. In my talk, I will focus on how these religions influenced Christian views of the afterlife, and with that, their views on what the soul is and what it means to be a good person
Farnsworth-Hirsch Fusor
We built a Farnsworth-Hirsch fusor in order to study neutron emission from nuclear fusion. Its construction involved a mechanical roughing pump, an oil diffusion pump, a vacuum chamber, a high negative-polarity power source, and a bubble dosimeter neutron detector. To determine the efficiency of the fusor we look at the neutron emission flux and the power input. We then compare those results to obtain a ratio of power input versus the power output by the fusor
An Overview of Four Traditions on War and Peace in Christian History
This essay examines four traditions on war and peace that have developed in Christian history. They are: Pacifism, Just War, Total War, and World Community.Pacifism characterized the earliest Christians; Just War appeared in the late fourth and fifth centuries; Total War in the eleventh century; and World Community began in the sixteenth century. All four positions continue today and are held by people who sincerely call themselves Christian
