This study explores the effectiveness of integrating coding using Scratch and AI interaction via ChatGPT to enhance the mathematics performance and computational thinking skills of 5th-grade students. An experimental group, which received training using these tools, showed significant improvements in mathematical problem formulation, data organization, and higher-order cognitive skills such as analysis, evaluation, and creation, as measured by Bloom's Taxonomy. These gains were notably higher compared to a control group using traditional methods. The results demonstrate that the use of Scratch for coding and ChatGPT for AI interaction not only enhances mathematical understanding but also fosters critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaborative learning. This integration supports the development of computational thinking, preparing students for future challenges in a technology-driven world. The study highlights the potential of digital tools in transforming primary education by promoting deeper engagement and fostering essential 21st-century skills
Bridging the Holistic–Skills Gap in Islamic Vocational Education: Management Practices and Graduate Employability
This study critically examines the role of Islamic education management in reducing the misalignment between graduate competencies and workforce demands in an Islamic vocational context. Conducted at Nahdlatul Ulama 1 Karanggeneng Vocational High School, Indonesia, the research investigates how managerial decisions shape graduate readiness amid the dual mission of character formation and skills preparation. Using a qualitative case study design, data were collected through in-depth interviews with six informants (school leaders, teachers, and alumni), participant observation, and analysis of national tracer study data. The findings demonstrate a dualistic pattern: management is highly effective in strengthening students’ spiritual discipline and character through structured religious and organizational programs, yet remains deficient in establishing industry partnerships and embedding digital competencies. This imbalance produces uneven employability outcomes across majors, most notably reflected in the 75.5% absorption rate in Computer Networking compared to substantially lower outcomes in other fields. These disparities indicate a persistent “holistic–utilitarian disconnect” between internal value-based practices and external labor market expectations. The study concludes that a strategic shift is necessary, emphasizing three priorities: professionalizing industry linkages across all majors, systematically integrating digital fluency within the curriculum, and implementing targeted interventions to enhance student confidence and career navigation skills. These actionable recommendations provide a management-oriented framework for Islamic vocational institutions to better harmonize spiritual formation with labor market relevance and strengthen their graduates’ competitiveness in an evolving workforce landscape
The Use of Hyperbolic Figures of Speech (夸张) in Online Shopping Advertisements on Taobao: A Thematic Analysis of the Shift in Chinese Beauty Standards from ‘白瘦幼’ to ‘国潮美’.
This study examines the use of hyperbole (夸张) in online shopping advertisements on the Taobao platform, with particular attention to how these expressions construct and represent the shift in Chinese beauty standards from the traditional ideal of 白瘦幼 (white, thin, youthful) to the emerging aesthetic trend 国潮美 (Chinese national-style beauty). Using a qualitative approach supported by multimodal discourse analysis of 40 Taobao advertisements (2020–2024), this study identifies key patterns in linguistic hyperbole, visual design, and embedded cultural meanings. The findings show that hyperbole in 白瘦幼-themed advertisements predominantly amplifies extreme and unrealistic beauty ideals. Meanwhile, hyperbole in 国潮美 themed advertisements emphasizes natural beauty, cultural symbolism, and national pride through expressions such as so stunning it leaves people breathless or instant oriental charm. These forms celebrate diversity and promote culturally rooted aesthetic values. Overall, the study demonstrates that hyperbole in Taobao advertisements serves not only as a persuasive rhetorical device but also as a cultural marker that reflects shifting beauty ideologies and growing cultural confidence in modern Chinese society. The research contributes to the fields of digital media linguistics, Chinese popular culture, and rhetorical strategies in online marketin
Implementation of Problem-Based Learning Model Using Youtube Media to Improve Numeracy Literacy of 8th Grade Students
Application of Problem-Based Learning Model Based on Youtube Media to Improve Students’ Numeracy Literacy. In eighth grade, kids' limited numeracy literacy abilities make it difficult for them to understand science. One innovative solution is the project-based learning (PBL) approach, incorporating YouTube material. Applying the Problem Based Learning (PBL) pedagogy with the digital media platform YouTube, this research seeks to enhance students' numeracy literacy abilities. The participants in this Classroom Action Research (PTK) study are thirty eighth graders from class 8A. There were two rounds to this study. This research measured students' numeracy literacy abilities using data collected via interviews, observations, and tests, which were analysed descriptively. The study found that although students' average exam scores climbed by 14.5 points to 78.2 in Cycle II, they were 63.7 in Cycle I. Results show that eighth graders at SMP Negeri 2 Berbek may benefit from the Problem Based Learning approach, especially in science, when they use YouTube as a learning tool. The researchers recommend doing future experiments over a longer period to examine the persistent influence of YouTube-based PBL on students' numeracy, since the time constraint led to less than optimum results
Enhancing Culinary Students’ Comprehension of English Recipe Texts through Project-Based Learning
This study investigates the effectiveness of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) in enhancing reading comprehension of English culinary texts among tenth-grade vocational culinary students at SMK Miftahul Ulum Solokuro. Employing a one-group pretest-posttest design, 28 students participated in four project-based sessions focused on understanding and applying English recipe texts. The results showed a statistically significant improvement, with average scores increasing from 48.5 (pre-test) to 83.68 (post-test). The paired-sample t-test revealed a p-value of 0.000, and the effect size measured by Cohen’s d was 3.74, indicating a very large effect. These findings highlight PjBL’s effectiveness in bridging the gap between academic English reading and real-world culinary practices. By contextualizing learning through projects, students not only improved their reading comprehension but also acquired essential skills for workplace readiness in the culinary industr
Pattern of Children's Education In Surah Luqman (Quran 31:13-19) Through The Lens of Islamic Education Philosophy
Education is the basis for acquiring knowledge, including religious and moral values. The knowledge that humans get from education starts from humans in the womb with the first educator being their parents. To educate children, both parents have a strategy called an educational pattern. Education patterns are very diverse, especially education and childcare patterns. In Islam, there are many figures who can be examples in educating children, one of which is Luqman. Luqman became a role model for parents in educating their children, even Luqman's example in educating his children contained in the Qur'an Surah Luqman. In Surah Luqman verses 13-19 describe the pattern of education to children by giving advice, exemplifying commendable behavior and upholding the teachings of Islam in life. The verse emphasizes a balanced approach to education that ensures that children's lives remain in harmony with Islamic teachings and values. The study of educational patterns based on surah Al-Qur'an Luqman verses 13-19 can be a reference for parents in providing education to children in accordance with the Qur'an, so as to form children's character with good knowledge, morals and beliefs
