Happily Ever After? How Disney Princesses Represent Gender Role Stereotypes in Animated and Live Action Films
Get PDFThe Disney princess is one of the most important female characters many children and adults look up to, but what they don\u27t see are the underlying messages about gender roles the films portray. Many scholars have touched upon the issue of diversity in the Disney Princess franchise, but few have ventured into studying gender role messages that are portrayed in films. This paper studied six films and recorded instances and representation of different aspects of gender role. The examples were separated into five different categories for both the animated and live action princesses. Each princess that was studied showed different characteristics of gender role stereotypes in both the animated and live-action version allowing for different interpretations of their stories

Red Chert Quarrie in the Munsungun Lake Formation: Moving beyond Norway Bluff
Get PDFRed chert attributed to the Munsungun Lake geologic formation located in northern Maine is common in terminal-Pleistocene, fluted-point-period lithic assemblages throughout New England. A visually identical material also appears in some later-period sites in coastal Maine. Until recently no bedrock source for this red chert showing convincing evidence of precontact use was known. Here we present the NKP site complex, a series of quarry-related stone-toolmanufacturing workshop sites associated with outcrops of high-quality red/green chert. These outcrops represent the only known source of this material with evidence of precontact human use within the Munsungun Lake formation. Although unequivocal fluted-point-period artifacts, such as fluted bifaces, are not yet documented at the NKP complex, the recurrent appearance of red Munsungun chert in fluted-point-period lithic assemblages in New England suggests the manufacture of fluted points took place in the vicinity of these outcrops

More Man Than a Horse? BoJack Horseman and its Subversion of Sitcom Conventions in Search of Realism
Get PDFAs the television market diversifies and fragments, TV show creators in the postmodern era have been pushed to subvert the conventions of various genres to stay relevant. This research uses a combination of genre analysis and close content analysis of the Netflix original series BoJack Horseman to identify several conventions of the situation comedy genre that the show subverts. Through an unconventional handling of irony, tone, unique form, and subject matter, BoJack Horseman manages to transcend generic expectations by portraying a dark, realistic worldview. Contrary to the traditional view of the situation comedy as a media oriented towards escapism, BoJack Horseman\u27s realistic outlook serves as a way for viewers to confront painful emotions and better understand how to deal with them

No full textProblem Statement There is a lack of a clinical definition of dehydration and no research based standard for identification, treatment, and intervention.Purpose Identify and improve the gap in education and training for APCs (Advanced Practice Clinicians) for identification of dehydration in the elderly.Method A quantitative analysis was conducted by surveying a group of APC’s to determine their self-identified level of clinical competence for assessment and treatment of dehydration and their perceived need for additional training in this area.Analysis Use of the blind survey removed potential bias and could be used to generalize responses from a larger population response.Significance A clinical pathway would allow for consistent identification and treatment

Carefully extracting clues from the account books of Newport merchant John Banister, Lazaro illuminates the backstory of textiles that originated in England, India, and other exotic locales and which clothed the bodies of Newporters in the early-to mid-eighteenth century. Ned Lazaro is the Curator of Textiles and Fashion at Historic Deerfield in Deerfield, Massachusetts. He has researched, lectured, and published on various topics related to fashion, textiles, design, and the presentation of self between the seventeenth and twentieth centuries
