How perceiving additional baskets modifies youth basketball players’ performances
This study aimed to identify how playing basketball with two additional baskets influences the players’ technical, physiological, physical and especially, positional performance. Fourteen youth players performed eight 5vs.5 simulated basketball games, four with the two official baskets and four with two-extra official baskets, each one placed in the court restricted area. The variables collected were technical (field-goals made and missed, offensive and defensive rebounds, steals, passes, dribble-drive, give-and-go and ball possessions), physiological (heart rate monotony and sample entropy), workload (total distance covered and distance covered at different velocities) and positioning-related (distance to the nearest opponent, distance to the nearest teammate, stretch-index and distance between centroids). The results showed that the four-baskets games favoured the emergence of individual behaviours, increasing the game\u27 physical demands and promoting a collective dispersion, which might impair team playing. Conversely, when playing with two-baskets, there was less distance between teammates. In conclusion, this study has clear implications for practice as it emphasizes that coaches can manipulate the number of baskets to modulate training workload and promote different individual and team behaviours
Color Reflectance Study of Decolorized Reactive Dyed Cotton Knitted Fabric by Ozone Plasma Treatment
Ozone plasma treatment is available to be applied on color modification and color fading due to ozone generating function. It is an environment friendly process that treats died cotton under dry condition in order to avoid chemical effluents. This study aims to investigate color reflectance of decolorized reactive dyed cotton knitted fabric by ozone plasma treatment. Reactive dyed cotton knitted fabrics with different color depths (0.5%, 1.5%, 3.0%) were prepared to be treated by various of plasma conditions, including different ozone concentrations (10%, 30%, 50%, 70%) controlled by adjusting gas power output, water contents (35%, 45%) of fabric samples and ozone treatment durations (10 mins, 20 mins, 30 mins). The color fading effect is evaluated by the color reflectance percentage (R%) using spectrophotometer under illuminant D65. The effective decolorization in terms of high reflectance percentage was revealed from plasma treatment with higher ozone concentrations (50% and 70% ozone in air) and longer treatment duration (20 mins or above). However, the percentage of water content contained in the fabrics is shown to have insignificant relationship with the color fading effects
Atmospheric pressure plasma‐induced decolorisation of cotton knitted fabric dyed with reactive dye
The aim of this study was to investigate the decolorisation effect of atmospheric pressure plasma treatment on knitted fabrics dyed with reactive dyes under different processing parameters, ie, air concentration, treatment duration and water content. The fabrics were dyed with reactive dye of a blue colour, and the colour depths were 0.5%, 1.5% and 3.0% on weight of fabric. The colour properties of untreated and plasma‐treated fabric samples were evaluated by means of reflectance, K/S and relative unlevelness index. The colour properties were evaluated instrumentally and quantitatively in order to study the decolorisation effect induced by atmospheric pressure plasma treatment. Experimental results revealed that the desired decolorisation effect was heavily influenced by the atmospheric pressure plasma treatment processing parameters. Although the desired decolorisation effect could be obtained by controlling the processing parameters of the atmospheric pressure plasma treatment, the treatment did not provide any significant reduction in the bursting strength of the fabric
NiMoAl catalysts derived from heptamolybdate-intercalated layered double hydroxides for hydrodeoxygenation of Anisole
The catalytic performance of NiMoAl catalysts derived from layered double hydroxide (LDH) precursors with molybdenum species incorporated into the interlayers was investigated for the hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) of anisole as a model compound of the lignin. The results showed that high dispersion of small Ni nanoparticles with 2–5 nm due to the pinning effect of Mo from Mo7O246− intercalated the LDHs. Due to presence of the oxygen vacancy sites on the molybdenum oxide, the NiMoAl catalysts exhibit higher conversion of anisole than the corresponding NiAl catalyst. The activity for hydrodeoxygenation was enhanced with the increased content of molybdenum species, which can be attributed to the larger amount of acid sites-promoted removal of oxygen from anisole. In addition, the NiMoAl catalysts show higher resistance to deactivation than the NiAl catalyst, and can be broadly applied to other hydrodeoxygenation reactions
Effects of eccentricity on seismic behavior of non-seismically designed reinforced concrete beam-column joint
The staggering numbers of eccentric reinforced concrete beam-column joints without seismic design details were used in existing RC frame building due to geometrical constraints, which implied high susceptibility of the building structures to anticipated seismic risk. Three exterior RC beam-column joints were fabricated and tested, which were applied reversed cyclic loads to simulate seismic action. In this study, the effects of stirrup ratio in joints and the eccentricity which is defined as the distance between the axis of the beam and column on seismic performance are investigated. The test results provide a further understanding of the failure mode and shear strength of exterior beam-column joints. It is shown that the eccentricity will significantly reduce the seismic performance and shear strength of the joints, which will cause the brittle failure of frame buildings, while the stirrups in the joint core can improve the seismic performance. To verify the availability of current codes in predicting the shear strength of eccentric beam-column joints with non-seismic detailed, the experimental results are compared with the predicted shear force of two non-seismic codes (HK code and Eurocode 2) and three seismic codes (Eurocode 8, NZS 3101 and ACI 318-14). The comparison results indicate that the existing non-seismic and seismic design codes of practice do not predict the shear strength of the exterior non-seismically designed joints precisely
