Flouting Maxim Found in WhatsApp Group Chat: Pragmatics Analysis: English
The Gricean Maxim provides a framework for understanding and analyzing communicative interactions, offering insights into the dynamics of effective communication and cooperation in various contexts. This study is to identify the kinds of maxims that were flouted and the reasons for flouting maxims. Two different WhatsApp group chats in a long-distance friendship context were analyzed. The WhatsApp groups consist of members from different areas in East Java. By employing qualitative research, the researcher used the theory of the four types of cooperative principle of the maxim by Grice to analyze the context in which the maxim was flouted and to analyze the reasons of the speakers for flouting the maxims. The finding showed that all kinds of flouting maxims were found, except flouting the maxim of quality. Therefore, it can be concluded that some friendship members usually did not obey the maxims for certain reasons, such as to provide humor and to give the information more effectively
The Use of Social Networking Site to Increase Students’ Reading Achievement of State Junior High School 3 Of Rambang Niru: English
This study aims to describe how social networking site could improve students’ reading achievement of State Junior High School 3 of Rambang Niru. This research used the Classroom Action Research (CAR) which consists of four steps, namely planning, action, observation and reflection. Success Criteria of the Reasearch is the school minimal passing grade, which was 60. The result of this study is Social Networking Site can improve the students’ reading achievement of the eight gare students as Junior High School 3 of Rambang Niru. It could be seen in the result of cycle III. There were 28 students who had met English standard score was 60, it was around 87.5% and the mean students was 75.62. It is possible to draw the conclusion that social networking sites are highly beneficial and have a significant impact on raising students' reading achievement based on the findings in the previous chapter. Students can use social networking sites (SNS) to learn English outside of the classroom at any time and from any location, regardless of time or space constraints. Development of Student Worksheet Based on Contextual for Sixth Grade Students at MI Al-Usman Malang: English
The research's objective is to describe the process of developing contextual-based student worksheets while at the same time knowing the results of developing contextual-based student worksheets for students. To achieve this goal, the type of research used is Research and Development (R&D). Data collection techniques in this study were validation questionnaires and student responses. Data were analyzed through the level of validity and practicality of student worksheets (LKS) using a predetermined formula. The results of this development have resulted in student worksheets being declared very valid by students’ worksheet and material design experts with an average value of 92%. Student satisfaction response questionnaire obtained by 90% can be said to be very practical. The conclusion of the study is that the use of student worksheets (LKS) can improve the vocabulary mastery of MI Al - Usman class VI Kedungkandang Malang students, especially in the ability to understand concrete learnin
Exploring EFL Lecturer’s Strategies and Challenges in Teaching Critical Listening for the Third-Semester Students of English Education Study Program at PGRI University of Palembang: English
This study aimed at determining:(1) strategies in teaching Critical Listening; (2) implementation of strategies in teaching Critical Listening; (3) challenges in teaching Critical Listening; (4) solutions for teaching Critical Listening. This study was a qualitative using case study method. The respondent was the lecturer of Critical Listening. Data collection technique were observation, interview, questionnaire and documentation. Data analyses technique were data collection, data display, conclusion and review. The findings showed that (1) strategies used were Bottom-Up and Top-Down, and Direct Strategy. (2) this strategies used to guide students comprehend meanings from audio, understand vocabularies, know the outline of conversation from audio, build students’ confidence in sharing their critical thoughts about topics. (3) challenges were time allocation, unsupported media, lack of understanding vocabularies, students’ low motivation in improving listening skill. (4) solutions were manage time allocation, improving learning environment of listening skill, adapting, improving students’ vocabularies and using various strategies
Development of Mini Hydroponic Teaching Modules to Improve Critical Thinking Skills in Early Childhood
Hydroponics is a farming activity without soil which has an important role in building critical thinking skills for young children. The role of mini hydroponics is outlined in the form of teaching modules which were developed to make it easier for teaching staff to present material to improve critical thinking skills for young children. The aim of this research is to determine the development of mini hydroponic teaching modules in improving the critical thinking skills of young children and to analyze the feasibility of mini hydroponic teaching modules. This research uses research & development methods with product development in the educational sector and uses a qualitative approach and is carried out at the Carsa Kids Tarakan Kindergarten from November 2023 to February 2024. The results of the research show that this mini hydroponic teaching module is suitable for use to improve thinking skills. critical for young children. The feasibility of this teaching module product is generated from validation scores from experts such as material experts, media experts and also language experts and critical thinking material experts. This ajat module could be an alternative material for young children to improve their critical thinking skills
Enhancing Students' Reading Interest Through PQ4R Strategy Assisted by Comic Media at MI Muhammadiyah Panican
Reading is a fundamental activity that affects every individual in learning various kinds of knowledge. Reading activities can become the foundation of an individual that supports the character formation process. Teaching reading is not an easy task because it requires the preparation of several things, such as environmental conditions, teaching techniques, learning strategies, and others. This research was motivated by the low interest in reading among sixth-grade students of MI Muhammadiyah Panican in Indonesian language learning. This study aims to provide solutions to the low reading interest of students through the implementation of the PQ4R strategy assisted by Comic media in the Indonesian language learning of the sixth grade at MI Muhammadiyah Panican. The research method used was Classroom Action Research (CAR), which was conducted in two cycles. The subjects of this study were the sixth-grade students of MI Muhammadiyah Panican, totaling 17 students. The results showed that the students' reading interest in the first cycle had reached a percentage of 64% with fewer criteria, while in the second cycle, it had obtained a percentage of 80% with good criteria. The research by applying the PQ4R strategy assisted by Comic media in the Indonesian language learning of the sixth grade at MI Muhammadiyah Panican has successfully increased the students' reading interest according to the expected success indicator
Implementation of Magic Box Media for Early Childhood Symbolic Thinking
The importance of early childhood education cannot be separated from its role in forming the basis for the development of various aspects of a child's life. At this stage, children begin to get to know the world around them, develop social interaction skills, and build the cognitive foundations they will use in the future. The ability to think symbolically is the basis for children to understand and process more complex information in the future. Through this ability, children begin to develop the ability to imagine, solve problems and think abstractly. The research used is qualitative descriptive research. The research location is TK Aisyiyah 02 Tambakromo. The number of subjects in this study was 23 people. The data in this research was collected through several techniques, namely observation, interviews and documentation. The data obtained in this research was collected and analyzed using thematic analysis techniques with data analysis steps including Data Reduction, Data Presentation, and Drawing Conclusions. The results obtained are that the use of learning media is very necessary in helping early childhood understanding. Based on the data obtained, the implementation of magic box media can improve students' symbolic abilities as evidenced by the fact that all students are in the criteria of developing according to expectations (BSH) and developing very well (BSB)
The Impact of Children's Interpersonal Communication with Parents and Parental Involvement in Fostering Independence of 3-4 Year Old Children
This study aims to examine the impact of interpersonal communication between children aged 3-4 years and parents and parental involvement in fostering children's independence. Independence is an important aspect in early childhood development, and is supported by warm, responsive communication patterns and active involvement of parents. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method on children aged 3-4 years at Tunas Harapan Ilahi Toddler School, Tangerang City. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with parents, and documentation. The results showed that effective communication between children and parents and involvement in daily activities have a positive impact on increasing children's independence. Children who received emotional support, opportunities to express their opinions, and were given small responsibilities showed better independence than children who lacked positive interactions. This conclusion reinforces the importance of interpersonal communication and parental involvement in shaping children's independent character from an early age. Based on these findings, it is recommended that parents and educators play an active role in building constructive communication and providing an environment that supports children's independence. This study contributes to the development of early childhood education programs that focus on independence
Penggunaan Artificial Intelligence (AI) dalam Pembelajaran: Fenomena Transformasi Otoritas Pengetahuan di Kalangan Mahasiswa
Currently, the use of artificial intelligence has become widespread, especially among students. However, there is a consensus that artificial intelligence brings about some changes in students' intellectual lives, particularly when used excessively. One of the tangible transformations is related to the authorithy of knowledge, where students prefer to complete assignments with the assistance of artificial intelligence without seeking other authoritative sources. This research aims to find answers to the following questions: How has the use of artificial intelligence spread among students? What significant changes in students' intellectual lives as the impact of excessive use of artificial intelligence, particularly concerning the transformation in the authority of knowledge? This study is a qualitative research with a phenomenological approach to investigate a variety of phenomena surrounding the research topic directly from the field. The research was conducted in the Department of Arabic Language Education at STAI Syaichona Moh. Cholil Bangkalan. This research found that: students use AI in learning, such as ChatGPT, chatbots, and AI-based electronic dictionaries, primarily because their lectures are related to language translation. Furthermore, this research also found that a transformation in the authority of knowledge has occurred, transitioning from lecturers and authoritative books to reliable websites, opinions of intellectual figures, and journals published by universities
Kesetaraan Gender Perspektif Islam (Studi Kasus di Pondok Pesantren Nurul Qodiri Lampung Tengah)
This research discusses gender equality implemented at the Nurul Qodiri Islamic Boarding School in Central Lampung and viewed from an Islamic perspective. In the background of this research, it is stated that gender is a cultural concept that is used to differentiate the roles, behavior, mentality and emotional characteristics of men and women that apply within society. Meanwhile, gender equality itself means equal opportunities for men and women to obtain their human rights as human beings and obtain appropriate roles in the nation and state. In Islamic studies, it is stated that there is no difference between men and women before God, but rather the level of faith and deeds of worship. Islam teaches its people to implement gender equality by mutual love and respect for fellow Muslim brothers. The purpose of this research is to study and investigate gender equality and how the concept of gender equality is implemented in the Nurul Qodiri Islamic Boarding School environment in Central Lampung. This research was conducted using a qualitative field approach method. The results of this research are that all male and female students at the Nurul Qodiri Islamic Boarding School in Central Lampung have received their respective rights as students and students, all existing activities can be participated in by all students, and all genders can also get the same positions and positions. in accordance with Islamic guidance and Islamic boarding school rules
