Exploring Teachers' Strategies for Integrating 21st Century Skills in STEAM
Education has challenges in preparing students with the skills needed in the 21st Century, namely 4C. This ability can be developed with the STEAM approach, which can be implemented from the PAUD level by linking the real world to practical activities in the classroom. Teachers are facilitators in providing play activities, so they need a comprehensive understanding of STEAM. This study aims to see the understanding of teachers at the PAUD level in mastering the STEAM concept both theoretically and practically. This study uses case study research to gain an in-depth understanding of the 4Cs in STEAM Learning based on the teacher's perspective in integrating 21st Century skills. Four teachers participated as key informants with the criteria of alumni from the PGPAUD Study Program before 2000, working for more than 3 years in PAUD institutions, and participating in STEAM-related training. Data collection used research instruments of interviews, observations, and documentation, and was analyzed with thematic analysis using five themes. The study results showed diversity in understanding the STEAM approach to developing 4C skills, but all agreed that using loose parts and projects was easier to integrate. The study's findings found a discourse on the terminology of learning models and approaches. This study has implications for teacher professional development with the hope of increasing pedagogical literacy as a basis for learning
Beyond the Classroom: A Comparative Study of Subjective Well-Being Among Early Childhood Teachers in Indonesia and Malaysia
This study explores the differences in Subjective Well-Being (SWB) among early childhood education (ECE) teachers in Indonesia and Malaysia. A total of 200 teacher of ECE participated. Statistical tests indicated that the data from both groups significantly deviated from a normal distribution. As a result, the non-parametric Mann-Whitney U test was applied to compare the SWB scores, revealing a significant difference between the two countries (p = 0.015). Teachers in Malaysia reported higher SWB, suggesting that cultural and educational policies may influence well-being. Regression analysis assessed the impact of work tenure and gender on SWB, but neither factor was found to be significant. Notably, years of service negatively affected SWB, indicating that longer tenure is associated with lower well-being in both countries. These results highlight the importance of considering contextual factors such as social support and work-life balance in addressing teacher well-being. This study addresses a significant research gap by providing cross-national evidence on subjective well-being (SWB) among early childhood education (ECE) teachers in Southeast Asia, this research offers novel insights into how national education systems and socio-cultural environments influence teacher well-being. By comparing Indonesia and Malaysia, the study highlights previously unexplored regional differences and underscores the need for context-sensitive policy interventions across diverse educational settings
The Study of Ammatoa Customary Forest Management by the Kajang Tribe for the Development of a Conservation-Based Learning (CBL) Model Integrated with Local Wisdom
This study aims to examine the effectiveness of applying the Conservation Based Learning (CBL) model integrated with local wisdom in improving the environmental literacy of fifth-grade students at SDN 351 Kawasan Ammatoa, Bulukumba Regency, South Sulawesi. Using a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group, this study involved two classes, namely an experimental class taught using the CBL model and a control class taught using conventional methods. Data collection was conducted through learning outcome tests in the form of multiple-choice and essay questions that measured students' environmental literacy, which included understanding conservation concepts, the ability to analyze environmental problems, and the application of knowledge in daily life. The results showed that the application of the CBL model integrated with local wisdom had a significant impact on improving students' environmental literacy, with the average posttest score for the experimental group reaching 86.00, while the control group only scored 61.81. Hypothesis testing using an independent t-test showed a significant difference between the two groups (p < 0.05). In addition, N-Gain score analysis revealed a higher increase in the experimental group (0.76) compared to the control group (0.35), indicating that the CBL model is more effective in improving environmental literacy. Thus, this study confirms that the CBL model, which integrates local wisdom, can significantly improve students' understanding, analysis, and application of environmental knowledge, which is important for shaping sustainable environmental awarenes

Civics Education Learning Based on Local Cultural Values to Strengthen Students’ Civic Disposition
Students' civic disposition remains a challenge in Civics Education learning, particularly related to the implementation of contextual learning strategies which align with local culture. This study aimed to describe the process of integrating local cultural values into Civics Education subject and analyzed its impact on strengthening students' civic disposition. Using a mixed methods approach, quantitative methods were applied to measure the impact, while qualitative methods were used to explore the learning process. Value integration was carried out through individual portfolio assignments and group assignments analyzing character values in traditional games. The integrated character values included patriotism, law-abidingness, peace-loving, democratic, and creativity. The results showed that in the first class, there was an insignificant increase in civic disposition, while in the second class, there was a significant increase. These findings demonstrated that the integration of local cultural values can be effectively implemented in Civics Education learning, thus not only strengthening students' civic disposition but also fostering cultural awareness and strengthening national identity. This strategy has the potential to be an innovative alternative in developing Civics Education learning which is relevant to the Indonesian social and cultural context
Optimizing Social Emotional Learning (SEL) in Elementary School Learning to Strengthen Students' Character and Psychological Well-Being
21st-century learning demands strengthening the character and psychological well-being of students from elementary school. Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is seen as a strategic approach relevant to the Pancasila Student Profile while addressing students' social-emotional challenges in the digital era. This study aims to measure the influence of SEL on students' character and psychological well-being, describe its implementation practices in schools, and formulate effective optimization strategies. The study used mixed methods with a sequential explanatory design. Quantitative data were obtained through questionnaires from 180 students, analyzed statistically, and then strengthened by interviews, observations, and document studies. The results of the quantitative analysis showed an average score of student character M=3.27 (SD=0.33), psychological well-being M=3.15 (SD=0.35), and SEL M=3.20 (SD=0.40) on a scale of 1–4, all in the high category. Qualitative data confirmed that SEL practices are beginning to appear in learning despite still being hampered by teacher understanding and school support. These findings can be applied by teachers to integrate SEL into daily learning, enrich the theory on the relationship between SEL and character and psychological well-being in the elementary school context, and open up opportunities for further research related to long-term SEL implementation and evaluation strategies
Sanctions for the Criminal Act of Extramarital Abortion Based on Article 346 of the Indonesian Criminal Code and Islamic Criminal Law
The criminal act of abortion constitutes a form of crime that threatens human life and frequently occurs in society, especially as a result of promiscuity among unmarried teenagers. Abortion has become a legal issue regulated in Article 346 of the Criminal Code. However, there are limited exceptions in Law Number 36 of 2009 on Health which permits abortion in medical emergencies and pregnancies resulting from rape. The purpose of this study is to explain abortion as an impact of promiscuity, economic factors, and socio-cultural factors. In addition, to gain an understanding of the positive legal regulations in Indonesia regarding sanction of abortion as regulated in Article 346 of the Criminal Code, and to examine the perspective of Islamic law in viewing the practice of abortion and their sanctions. The approach of legal relativism and criminalization is used to understand the complexity of the abortion phenomenon, demonstrating the need for harmonization between criminal law and reproductive health so that law enforcement is humane and in accordance with applicable social norms. The method used in this study is a normative juridical approach using a literature study technique. The research findings reveal that the practice of abortion among adolescents occurs due to weak social control, promiscuity, as well as economic factors, open access to pornographic content, and minimal supervision of people who encourage pregnancy outside of marriage. From a positive legal perspective, abortion regulations in Indonesia are still inconsistent. The Criminal Code criminalizes abortion without medical reasons, especially in Article 346, while in Law Number 36 of 2009 provides exceptions in cases of medical emergencies or rape. From the perspective of Islamic criminal law, this study found that abortion is viewed as a forbidden act, especially if it is performed after the fourth month of pregnancy, when it is believed that the spirit has been blown
Evaluating the Effectiveness of Indonesia’s Anti Money Laundering Framework: A Normative Legal Analysis
Money laundering continues to expose regulatory and institutional gaps within Indonesia’s financial surveillance architecture, particularly in the effectiveness of PPATK’s analytical functions and the coordination of enforcement agencies. This study therefore aims to examine the adequacy of Indonesia’s anti–money laundering (AML) framework, identify weaknesses in its preventive and enforcement mechanisms, and propose policy reforms. Using a normative juridical method, the research analyses statutory provisions, primarily Law No. 8 of 2010 together with secondary legal scholarship and tertiary reference materials. The analysis employs legal system theory and the concept of regulatory effectiveness to assess how far Indonesia’s AML regime aligns with national objectives and international standards. The findings demonstrate persistent shortcomings, including fragmented inter-agency cooperation, inconsistent implementation of KYC obligations, and increased exploitation of financial technology to bypass regulatory controls. Although mechanisms such as asset recovery and the reversal of the burden of proof strengthen enforcement, practical constraints limit their optimal use. The study concludes by recommending enhanced institutional synergy, the modernisation of digital tracing tools, and strengthened public and industry literacy on AML compliance as essential steps to improving Indonesia’s capacity to combat money laundering
Implementation of Legal Protection for Victims of Domestic Violence in the Decision of the Probolinggo Religious Court Number 55/Pdt.G/2024/PA.Prob
This study discusses the implementation of legal protection for victims of Domestic Violence (KDRT) within the framework of Satjipto Rahardjo’s Progressive Law Theory, through a case study of Decision No. 55/Pdt.G/2024/PA.Prob of the Religious Court of Probolinggo. The focus of this research is to examine how the judges applied the principle of substantive justice by determining retroactive child support payments as a form of legal protection for victims of domestic neglect. This research employs a normative juridical method with a case approach, analyzed qualitatively through the study of statutory regulations, legal doctrines, and court decisions. The findings show that the judge implemented repressive legal protection by obliging the father to pay retroactive child support for fourteen months, amounting to Rp18,000,000.00. This decision demonstrates a judicial stance favoring children and mothers as victims of neglect, while also reflecting the realization of substantive justice. Nevertheless, the protection provided is not yet comprehensive, as it does not cover preventive aspects such as family counseling, post-judgment protection, or rehabilitation for the perpetrator. Within the framework of Progressive Law, law should not merely focus on punishment or formal compliance, but should also serve as an instrument of restoration and human emancipation from social suffering. Therefore, there is a need for integration between preventive and repressive protection, as well as synergy among legal, social, and psychological institutions, to ensure that legal protection for victims of domestic violence within the Religious Courts becomes more just and sustainable
Criminal Law Analysis of online Pornography Distribution on Social Media under Indonesia’s Pornography Law No. 44/2008
Pornography has a negative impact on human life, so joint efforts are needed to combat it. The Criminal Code and Law No. 11 of 2008 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE) and Law No. 44 of 2008 concerning Pornography as lex specialis contain criminal law provisions related to the distribution of pornographic videos on social media. This study uses a normative legal research method. The results of the analysis show that both individuals and legal entities that distribute pornographic content can be punished, either directly or through the internet. The findings of the study are that perpetrators of the distribution of pornographic material can be punished, but there are several loopholes that hinder the effectiveness of law enforcement. First, there is inconsistency between Law No. 44 of 2008 concerning Pornography and Law No. 11 of 2008 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE), which often causes confusion in law enforcement. Second, weak digital detection mechanisms hamper the ability of law enforcement officials to identify and prosecute perpetrators quickly and effectively. This study also analyzes the components of cyberporn crimes as defined in Law No. 44 of 2008. The focus is on identifying the factors that drive the spread of illegal pornographic content and evaluating its social, psychological, and moral impacts, especially on the younger generation
