Exploring the Influence of Self-Control, Subjective Well-Being, Happiness, and Life Satisfaction on Prosocial Behavior among Muslim Students in Indonesia
Prosocial behavior voluntary actions intended to benefit others plays a vital role in adolescents’ social skills, emotional well-being, and constructive interpersonal relationships. Adolescents with high prosociality tend to exhibit lower negative emotions and stronger social development. However, limited research has examined this phenomenon among Muslim university students. Guided by Domain Theory, this study investigates the influence of self-control, subjective well-being, happiness, and life satisfaction on prosocial behavior in Indonesian Muslim students. A cross-sectional design with convenience sampling recruited 300 Muslim university students (84 males, 28%; 216 females, 72%) aged 17–24 years (M = 19, SD = 1.23). Participants completed the Prosocial Tendencies Measure (PTM), Brief Self-Control Scale (BSCS), BBC Subjective Well-being Scale (BBC-SWB), Orientation to Happiness Scale (OTH), and Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS), all adapted to the Indonesian context with acceptable reliability. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression. Results showed that subjective well-being (β = -0.169, p = 0.031) and happiness (β = 0.498, p = 0.000) significantly influenced prosocial behavior. Self-control (β = -0.058, p = 0.333) and life satisfaction (β = 0.119, p = 0.081) showed no significant effect. Indonesian Muslim students who reported higher levels of subjective well-being and happiness were more likely to engage in prosocial behavior. However, the research model hasn’t optimally explained the relationship between variables, as there are still other factors that can influence them
Politeness and Transitivity Strategies in Speech Siraj Season 4 Arabic Cartoon Series Characters: Analysis Pragmatic Functional
This study examines politeness strategies and transitivity patterns in the speech of the characters of the Arabic cartoon series Siraj Season 4 using a pragmatic functional approach. The background of the study departs from the limitations of studies that integrate Brown & Levinson's politeness theory with Systemic Functional Linguistics in Arabic children's media discourse. The purpose of this study is to describe the types of politeness strategies and types of transitivity processes that realize interpersonal meaning in the characters' speech. The study uses a qualitative descriptive method based on content analysis with data taken through purposive sampling from eleven episodes of Siraj. The analysis is carried out through the classification of politeness strategies (positive, negative, off record, and bald on record) and the identification of types of transitivity processes (material, mental, verbal, relational). The results show that positive and negative strategies are the most dominant, realized through mental and verbal processes that emphasize empathy, cooperation, and social respect. Meanwhile, off record strategies appear in educational contexts that emphasize moral gentleness. This study confirms that politeness in Siraj is a pragmatic and grammatical phenomenon that functions to educate socio moral values, and has implications for the development of Arabic language learning that emphasizes polite and reflective communication. Suggestions for future research include conducting comparative studies with other Arabic language children’s cartoons to reveal cross cultural differences in the realization of politeness strategies and transitivity patterns, as well as further developing the analysis by incorporating other meta functions within the Systemic Functional Linguistics framework
Implementation of the Scaffolding Method in Arabic Language Learning at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Darussalam Banjeng
Arabic language learning at the Madrasah Tsanawiyah level continues to face challenges related to the gap between expected language competence and students’ actual abilities. The structural complexity of Arabic, combined with the use of less adaptive instructional methods, often results in low student participation and limited learning autonomy. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the scaffolding method in Arabic language learning at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Darussalam Banjeng and to examine its implications for students’ learning processes and outcomes. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through classroom observations, interviews, and documentation. The data were analyzed inductively through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that scaffolding provides systematic and gradual instructional support, enhances students’ mastery of vocabulary and sentence structures, and improves productive language skills, particularly speaking and writing. Moreover, the method fosters more collaborative classroom interactions and strengthens students’ learning independence. This study concludes that scaffolding is an effective pedagogical approach for Arabic language learning and holds significant potential for broader application in foreign language instruction within the madrasah context
Beyond Memorization: Enhancing Vocabulary Acquisition through Google Sites in Bilingual Pesantren Education
Vocabulary acquisition in Arabic as a foreign language within pesantren-based educational contexts continues to face persistent challenges due to the dominance of rote memorization practices that inadequately support deep semantic processing, long-term retention, and communicative readiness. This study aims to examine the pedagogical role of Google Sites–based digital instruction in moving beyond memorization by facilitating meaningful lexical processing, learner engagement, and vocabulary retention among students at SMP Bilingual Terpadu Pesantren Modern Al-Amanah Junwangi, Krian. Adopting a qualitative descriptive design, the study employed semi-structured interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis, involving 25 students and 5 Arabic language teachers. The findings indicate that the integration of Google Sites enhanced vocabulary retention through structured, multimodal, and contextualized content presentation, enabling deeper semantic processing compared to conventional memorization-based methods. The platform also contributed to increased learner motivation and affective engagement. However, the data reveal that students’ spontaneous oral use of newly learned vocabulary remained limited and did not develop optimally. This suggests that while Google Sites effectively supports vocabulary retention and emerging readiness for use, full communicative acquisition requires sustained pedagogical mediation and integration with oral interaction practices. The study concludes that Google Sites–based digital instruction functions effectively as a supportive tool for Arabic vocabulary learning beyond mechanical memorization, yet its success is contingent upon teacher scaffolding and alignment with communicative language teaching principles. This research provides empirical insights into digital Arabic pedagogy in bilingual pesantren settings and recommends further investigation into long-term learning outcomes and the integration of digital platforms with productive language use
The Use of Quizalize Media to Improve Arabic Listening Skills of Students at Nahdlatul Ulama University
The low listening ability of students in learning Arabic is caused by the use of learning media that is still conventional and less interactive. This study aims to examine the use of Quizalize as an interactive learning and evaluation medium in Arabic listening instruction and to explore students’ responses to its implementation. Employing a quantitative descriptive approach, the study involved third-semester students of the Interdisciplinary Islamic Studies Study Program at Nahdlatul Ulama University of Yogyakarta. Data were collected through a questionnaire designed to capture students’ perceptions of Quizalize in terms of usability, attractiveness, learning motivation, and perceived effectiveness. The results indicate that students responded positively to the use of Quizalize, particularly regarding increased engagement, ease of use, and immediate feedback during listening activities. These findings suggest that Quizalize supports a more interactive and student-centered learning environment and functions effectively as a formative evaluation tool in listening instruction. In conclusion, this study contributes to the growing body of research on digital learning media by highlighting the pedagogical value of Quizalize in Arabic language education. Future research is recommended to investigate its impact on other language skills and to employ experimental designs for measuring learning gains more comprehensively
Masculinity Through Neytiri’s Character in Avatar The Way of Water (2022) Movie By James Cameroon
Most cinematic analyses tend to frame strong female characters through the lens of empowerment or feminism. While, this movie embodies traditionally masculine traits without forfeiting their femininity. Therefore, this research aims to find forms of masculinity that displayed by Neytiri’s character in the movie Avatar The Way of Water, using Judith Halberstam’s theory. Through a qualitative descriptive method, the study identifies two key expressions: Butch Femininity, shown in Neytiri’s physical strength, emotional control, and leadership; and Performance of Masculinity, highlighted in battle scenes where she protects her family. The findings indicates that Neytiri challenges conventional gender norms by displaying resilience, bravery, and a strong protective instinct towards her family and community. Her character demonstrates that masculinity is not exclusively tied to men, but also can embodied by women. This study contributes to the growing discourse on gender fluidity in media by highlighting how female characters can embody alternative masculinities in ways that are empowering rather than reductive. By centering female masculinity within a blockbuster film, the narrative opens space for more inclusive and diverse representations of gender in popular culture
The Impact of Quizizz-Based Learning on Students’ Creativity and Learning Outcomes in Islamic Cultural History

The Implications of Using Fusha and 'Amiyah Arabic on Indonesian Students at Al Azhar University in Egypt: A Sociolinguistic Perspective
The use of Fuṣḥa and 'Āmiyah in the context of Islamic higher education in Egypt creates complex linguistic dynamics for Indonesian students at Al-Azhar University. This study aims to analyze the relationship among the choice of Arabic language varieties, academic demands, and students' social adaptation in a real diglossic environment. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through open-ended questionnaires and semi-structured interviews with 25 Indonesian students and subsequently analyzed using content analysis from a sociolinguistic perspective. The results show that Fuṣḥa functions not only as a formal academic medium but also as a symbol of scholarly authority and legitimacy of academic identity. At the same time,‘Āmiyah becomes the main instrument in building social relations, understanding local culture, and achieving practical communication effectiveness. The continuous interaction between the two varieties fosters adaptive communicative competence, characterized by strategic code-switching, sensitivity to social norms, and pragmatic flexibility. These findings show that Arabic diglossia functions as a productive linguistic resource rather than merely a barrier to learning. This study provides a conceptual contribution to the study of Arabic sociolinguistics. It offers pedagogical implications for the development of Arabic language learning for foreign speakers that align with sociolinguistic realities
