Brottmålsdomen som genre – Struktur, röster och språkhandlingar i svenska domar
No full textBrottmålsdomar är strukturellt komplexa texter som ska redogöra för ett flertal röster med motsatta perspektiv samtidigt som en hög läsbarhet och förståelse för tingsrättens bedömningar och beslut upprätthålls. Den här artikeln syftar till att synliggöra brottmålsdomars struktur och visa hur röster och språkhandlingar används för att konstruera strukturen. Studien utgår från en socio-retorisk genretradition där genrer ses som kommunikativa redskap som kan användas för att uppnå olika mål. 42 domar som faller under kategorin brott mot person i brottsbalken analyseras utifrån begreppen språkhandling, tema och röst för att urskilja med vilka drag som genren konstrueras. Analysen visar att brottmålsdomar konstrueras med sex olika drag som genererar tre olika skrivsätt beroende på hur dragen ordnas.Criminal judgments are structurally complex texts that must account for a number of voices with opposite perspectives, while maintaining a high readability and understanding of the district court's judgments and decisions. This article aims to highlight the structure of criminal judgments and show how voices and speech acts constructs the structure. The study departs from a socio-rhetorical genre tradition where genres are seen as communicative tools for the achievement of goals. Forty-two judgments, which fall under the category of crime against the person in the Swedish Criminal Code, are analyzed based on the concepts of speech acts, theme and voice in order to distinguish which moves constructs the genre. The analysis shows that criminal judgments are constructed with six different moves that generate three different types of writing techniques depending on how the moves are arranged

Sessrúmnir and Sailing Wind Horses – The ship as a concept in pre-Christian, Norse mentality
No full textShips appear in several, varied contexts in the Viking Age. These contexts are in this article used to discuss the ship’s connection to overall pre-Christian, Norse mentality. Kennings such as byrjar drösla (sailing wind horse) shows the ship’s connection to horses, considered as independent agents able to cross between spheres. This, in particular, is discussed in connection to Freya’s hall Sessrúmnir, a hall which also appears on a list of ships in Skaldskaparmál. Based on the analyses presented in this article, it is argued that ships were connected to a complex, inference-based framework of understanding where they had several, varied identities and roles. Interpreting burial ships, such as the Oseberg ship, simply as burial homes or death vessels might therefore severely limit our present understanding of the multifaceted nature of the ship in pre-Christian, Norse mentality.
