This contribution analyzes the effects of some of the changes imposed by the ideology of the knowledge economy on higher public education. In a case study within the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), we conducted in-depth interviews with academics from different disciplines. Based on the biographical narratives obtained, we hereby document how they position themselves in the face of processes of the so-called commercialization of higher education that affect their substantive academic functions of Research, Teaching and Cultural Dissemination.
Although the classic tales have accompanied us for decades —if not centuries—, collaborating with the entertainment of literature, but also with its possible teachings and morals; they have also been a personal and social stereotypical model that has influenced our social, cultural and ideological coexistence for a period already quite extended. However, times change. Nowadays it is possible to reread the same texts in order to take advantage of the search for a basic objective: equality and equity between men and women in favor of a just and, therefore, equitable society. The purpose is not to destroy literature, but to open your eyes to reread them —and enjoy them— from another perspective.

Old finds in new plough soils – Excavations of infield Stone Age sites in Southeastern Norway. This paper discusses the results of field archaeology in southeast Norway in the last ten years and concludes that infield Stone Age sites are rarely excavated in this region. Although the reasons are complex, this can partly be explained by the emphasis given to other types of sites and subjects, and is also related to the lack of a disciplinary tradition of survey and excavation of plough zone sites. The article also examines the value of infield Stone Age sites and presents and evaluates some of the methods used in recent excavations of plough soil settlements. Although some of these sites can provide new information about settlement patterns and the Stone Age economy, there are also sites that are of less interest. An important conclusion is that more focus should be given to the more productive sites both by applying new methods of survey and by excavations
Improving Polyp Segmentation in Colonoscopy using Deep Learning
Colorectal cancer is one of the major causes of cancer-related deaths globally. Although colonoscopy is considered as the gold standard for examination of colon polyps, there is a significant miss rate of around 22-28 %. Deep learning algorithms such as convolutional neural networks can aid in the detection and describe abnormalities in the colon that clinicians might miss during endoscopic examinations. The "MedAI: Transparency in Medical Image Segmentation" competition provides an opportunity to develop accurate and automated polyp segmentation algorithms on the same dataset provided by the challenge organizer. We participate in the polyp segmentation task of the challenge and provide a solution based on the dual decoder attention network (DDANet). The DDANet is an encoder-decoder-based architecture based on a dual decoder attention network. Our experimental results on the organizers' dataset showed a dice coefficient of 0.7967, Jaccard index of 0.7220, a recall of 0.8214, a precision of 0.8359, and an accuracy of 0.9557. Our results on unseen datasets suggest that deep learning and computer vision-based methods can effectively solve automated polyp segmentation tasks.Colorectal cancer is one of the major causes of cancer-related deaths globally.

Jan Beskow - Til minne
Ludic Unreliability and Deceptive Game Design
Drawing from narratology and design studies, this article makes use of the notions of the ‘implied designer’ and ‘ludic unreliability’ to understand deceptive game design as a specific subset of transgressive game design. More specifically, in this text we present deceptive game design as the deliberate attempt to misguide players’ inferences about the designers’ intentions. Furthermore, we argue that deceptive design should not merely be taken as a set of design choices aimed at misleading players in their efforts to understand the game, but also as decisions devised to give rise to experiential and emotional effects that are in the interest of players. Finally, we propose to introduce a distinction between two varieties of deceptive design approaches based on whether they operate in an overt or a covert fashion in relation to player experience. Our analysis casts light on expressive possibilities that are not customarily part of the dominant paradigm of user-centered design, and can inform game designers in their pursuit of wider and more nuanced creative aspirations
‘Modern’ Law and Its Subjects in Tawfīq al-Ḥakīm’s Diary of a Country Prosecutor (1937)
State law as the main transformative device to build a ‘modern’ Egypt has encountered tremendous resistance, yet legal scholars seem utterly uninterested in the matter while historians struggle to account for the reasons of the subjects’ resistance by using archival materials often produced by state officials themselves. In this article, I turn to literature to explore and interrogate literary representations of the rural subjects of ‘modern’ law, and their various forms of resistance to ‘modern’ law itself. In an effort to highlight the benefits of ‘turning to literature’ for legal scholars, I begin with one of the most acclaimed masterpieces and foundational works of the modern Egyptian literary canon: Tawfīq al-Ḥakīm’s Diary of a Country Prosecutor (1937). Listening to the awkward silences and garrulous voices of the Diary’s subjects opens a window onto the strained relations between ‘modern’ law and its subjects in which class, language, and centre/periphery dynamics all play a role. Considering what repertoire these subjects ‘spontaneously’ mobilise to challenge the ‘modern’ law further brings into view their alternative doxic understanding of law and justice.
