Hyper-Homomorphisms of Obic Algebras
In this paper, hyper-homomorphisms of Obic algebras which are generalizations of homomorphisms in Obic algebras are introduced. Their properties are investigated. It is shown that homomorphisms of Obic algebras preserve oscillation. Furthermore, it is established that with a suitably defined binary operation, the collection of hyper-homomorphisms in Obic algebras is also an Obic algebra. Moreover, monics, regular and preserving maps of Obic algebras are studied through their hyper-homomorphisms
Optimal Investment Strategy With Currency Uncertainty
Currency uncertainty, characterized by fluctuations in exchange rates, significantly impacts the valuation of investments and the timing of investment decisions. This paper develops a real options framework incorporating a novel currency uncertainty ratio to capture the impact of exchange rate fluctuations on investment timing. We analyze two cases: (i) project value following a geometric Brownian motion (GBM) with a constant investment cost and (ii) both project value and investment cost evolving as GBMs. Using stochastic control and optimal stopping theory, we derive closed-form solutions for the investment thresholds and option values. We further conduct a sensitivity analysis to explore how investment thresholds respond to changes in currency risk, volatility, and discount rates. Our results suggest that currency uncertainty significantly influences investment timing, often delaying investment decisions. These findings have important implications for multinational corporations, policymakers, and financial analysts concerned with investment under foreign exchange risk
Equivalence of the Convergences of some Modified Iterations with Errors for Uniformly Lipschitzian Asymtotically Pseudo-Contractive Maps
Certain iterative schemes demonstrate a faster convergence to a fixed point compared to others when used to solve various nonlinear differential equations. We show that the convergence of various iterative schemes, including the modified Mann iteration, modified Mann iteration with errors, modified Ishikawa iteration, modified Ishikawa iteration with errors, modified Noor iteration, modified Noor iteration with errors, modified multistep iteration and modified multi-step iteration with errors are all equivalent when applied to uniformly Lipschitzian asymptotically pseudo-contractive maps in an arbitrary real Banach space. Our results expand and generalize the earlier works of Rhoades and Soltuz [1], Olaleru and Odumosu [2] and Odumosu, Olaleru and Ayodele [3]
Determinants of Women’s Land Tenure Security in Peri-Urban Grafton, Sierra Leone
While a land-tenure system may consider the needs of women, securing these needs hinges on the specific land rights or ownership rights they hold. Land tenure encompasses land rights, which are the distinct entitlements that individuals and groups possess within a system. Hence, securing land rights for individuals and groups is the more direct pathway than securing land tenure itself. This study investigates the complex variables influencing land-tenure security for women in Grafton Community, a peri urban settlement in Sierra Leone. Expanding on prior research highlighting the unequal obstacles women face in obtaining and securing land rights, this study aims to examine the intricate interplay of sociocultural, economic and legal factors shaping women’s experiences with land tenure in this specific context. Employing a mixed-methods approach, this research combined qualitative insights from semi-structured interviews with community leaders, women, youth, government officials, NGO representatives and traditional authorities with quantitative data gathered through surveys. The qualitative data explored historical context, institutional responses and policies related to women’s land rights and tenure security, capturing lived experiences and perspectives on contested areas and social conflicts. Focus group discussions were conducted with women, exploring the experiences of various subgroups (young women, elderly women, women with disabilities and women landowners) regarding tenure security. The survey collected demographic information, land ownership details and opinions on contested areas and social conflicts, enabling statistical analysis. Key findings reveal that gender norms, customary land-tenure systems, poverty and rapid urbanization significantly contribute to women’s vulnerability in land ownership and control. The study recommends policy interventions promoting women’s property rights, gender equality in land rights and women’s economic empowerment to enhance their land-tenure security
Effect of Audit Quality on Financial Performance of Deposit Money Banks in Nigeria: Corporate Governance Perspectives
This study examined the effects of audit quality on the financial performance of 10 out of 16 Deposit Money Banks (DMBs) listed on Nigeria Stock Exchange (NSE) for which data were available covering a period of 10 years (2010-2019). While the specific objectives are to ascertain the effect of Audit Fee (AUF), Audit Report Lag (ARL) and Audit Committee Diligence (ACM) on the financial performance of Deposit Money Banks (DMBs) in Nigeria, it applied Return on Assets (ROA) as a measure of financial performance. The study adopted ex post facto research design, data for the study were collected from annual reports and accounts of listed DMBs. The study employed multiple regression analysis using SPSS to test the formulated hypotheses. The result showed Audit Fees (AF) and Audit Reported Lag (ARL) significantly affect financial performance of DMBs in Nigeria while Audit Committee Diligence (ACM) has insignificant effect on the financial performance of DMBs in Nigeria. The study recommends that: DMBs should strive to enhance the efficiency of their financial reporting processes to reduce the need for extensive audit procedures. Implementing robust internal control systems, automating processes, and adopting advanced accounting software can streamline financial reporting and potentially lower audit fee; DMBs should strive to streamline their internal processes and improve the efficiency of the financial reporting and auditing processes. This includes ensuring timely preparation of financial statements, prompt resolution of accounting issues, and effective communication with auditors. By reducing unnecessary delays in the audit process, companies can minimize audit report lag; DMBs should promote a culture of continuous improvement and learning within audit committees. This can be achieved through ongoing professional development programs, access to relevant resources and training, and opportunities for committee members to stay updated on emerging trends and regulatory changes. By continuously enhancing their knowledge and skills, audit committees can contribute more effectively to financial performance
EFFECT OF EXCHANGE RATE FLUCTUATION ON THE GROWTH OF SMEs PERFORMANCE IN NIGERIA (2013-2024)
This study investigated the effect of exchange rate fluctuation on the growth of SMEs performance in Nigeria from 2013 to 2024. The objectives of this study were to investigate the effect of exchange rate volatility on the performance of SMEs, and to examine the effect of interest rate and inflation rate on the performance of SMEs. This study employed ex-post facto research design as the event under study has already taken place. Data for this study were obtained through secondary source. This data included SMEs Industrial Output, Gross Domestic Product, exchange rate, inflation rate and interest rate from 2013-2024 Central Bank Annual Reports and National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) Reports. Data were analyzed using linear regression method and Pearson Product Moment Correlation to test the hypotheses in order to show the relationship between variables. The major findings of this study showed that exchange rate fluctuation has significant effect on SMEs performance (Coefficient of Determination, R2, is .689 (68.9%)), as it destabilizes the purchasing power of SMEs which results in decline in SMEs output. Findings also revealed that the relationship between inflation and SMEs performance is significant (R2 is (.880), P>.01 (0.000 <.01); the relationship that exists between inflation and SMEs performance is inverse (r =-.14158) relationship. The study concluded that an increase in interest rate causes decline in SMEs output and vice-versa, therefore recommended that policy makers should not totally rely on exchange rate depreciation policy to influence SMEs industrial output but should complement it with other macro-economic policies
AUDIT QUALITY INDICATORS AND FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE OF SELECTED QUOTED MANUFACTURING FIRMS IN NIGERIA
This study examines the impact of Audit Quality Indicators (AQIs) on the financial performance of selected quoted manufacturing firms in Nigeria over a five-year period: from 2019 to 2023. The research employs an ex post facto design and panel data analysis, focusing on 20 out of 41 listed manufacturing firms. The AQIs examined are: timing of audit execution; professional competence; audit tenure; and audit firm type. The findings reveal that these AQIs have minimal impact on the financial performance of the firms, as evidenced by their insignificance in affecting Return on Assets (ROA). Notably, the study shows that Big 4 audit firms do not have a significant advantage over non-Big 4 firms in terms of financial performance. Based on these results, the study recommends enhancing audit quality by selecting reputable audit firms, incorporating a broader range of performance indicators, and ensuring continuous professional development for auditors. It also suggests that government agencies should update regulatory frameworks and support research initiatives. Additionally, professional bodies should focus on improving standards, offering training, and funding research into advanced auditing techniques. Lastly, investors and the public are encouraged to demand greater transparency and high standards, fostering a culture of accountability that can improve both audit quality and financial performance
