Ohio Honors Program 
The seven-year review of the OHIO Honors Program found it to be a strong and sustainable 
undergraduate program that enriches student learning through flexible, interdisciplinary 
experiences. Commended for high retention and student satisfaction, the program is also 
addressing areas such as student engagement after the first year, clearer honors program 
communication, and the need for additional resources. Leadership is taking active steps to 
implement recommended improvements, including curricular enhancements, website updates, and 
expanded peer mentoring. The PRC committee finds that the OHIO Honors Program is deemed 
viable.

The seven-year review of the the AA/AS programs are academically sound and meet student 
needs through flexible, transferable curricula. Students report satisfaction and timely progress. 
However, the lack of dedicated faculty, formal assessment, and clear improvement plans limits 
the program’s ability to grow and evolve. Strengthening oversight and assessment practices will 
enhance long-term success. The PRC committee finds that the Associate of Arts / Assoc. of 
Sciences and Bach of Spec. Studies / Assoc of Indiv. Studies Program is deemed viable.

The ECT Graduate Programs (Master of Science in Information and Telecommunications 
Systems, and Master of Fine Arts in Communication Media Arts) are deemed viable from the 
materials provided.  
 
We would like to highlight the following points as part of our review: 
• We commend this area as being seen by their Dean as a "model program". 
• The programs have stable enrollments and are well aligned with market and career needs 
of the future. 
• The suggestions for minimal hiring, better marketing, and careful enrollment management 
all seem manageable.

School of Film  
The School of Film Graduate Programs (Master of Arts in Film Studies, and Master of Fine 
Arts in Film) are deemed viable from the materials provided.  
 
We would like to highlight the following points as part of our review: 
• Current students do not feel supported when entering the job market - this is critical, 
however there is a new class being offered to help this. 
• A review is likely needed to consider the director position rank.   
• There seems to be general agreement that there are staffing issues with faculty. There may 
need to be some realignment/updated messaging from leadership on workloads. 
• The Interim Dean’s letter, in commenting on the low grad student stipends, points to 
international students as a counterbalance to the difficulties in attracting domestic 
students.  Given the changes unfolding in higher education and in policies at the national 
level that will affect immigration and the presence of foreign students in the US, this may 
not prove an effective strategy in the foreseeable future.

The Data Analytics program is being updated to reflect current and/or revised Plant Biology 
(PBIO), Math (MATH), Geography (GEOG), and Political Science (POLS) course offerings. 
To best reflect current offerings, some courses are being removed, while others are being 
added. 
 
The following courses will be removed from program offerings:  
PBIO 4350, PBIO 4380, PBIO 4160, CS 4160, GEOG 3650, GEOG 3712, MATH 4501, 
MATH 4502, MATH 4530, MATH 4550, and MATH 4560.  
 
The following courses will be offered in a Choose One format: PBIO 3240 OR PBIO 3260  
 
The following courses will be added to the program offerings: PBIO 3300, PBIO 2140, PBIO

Program Name: Organizational Studies

Organizational Studies wishes to eliminate a degree requirement that is no longer necessary, 
wishes to change pre-approved elective choices and add two elective options to the TAS 
electives, and also wishes to change some language for clarity. None of these changes effects 
the number of credit hours required for the major.  
 
Under the elective core the wording in the DARS of Advisor Approved Electives should 
change to Faculty Approved Electives at the upper division level in the same focus area (9 
credits maximum) with 6 credits of TAS electives. This is not a curriculum change but clears 
up some DARS/catalog language.  
 
Under the minor or certification option, the wording clarifies that 15 credits at the upper 
division level are needed. Under the TAS electives two courses are added as options to the 5 
courses already listed. They are TAS 4020 Creating a Work and Life Balance (2 credits) and 
TAS 4900 Special Topics in Technical and Applied Studies (1-15 credits).

Finally, under the pre-approved electives the choices are changed to upper division courses 
that do not require prerequisites, that are available online, and that meet the program level 
learning outcomes.  
The courses are: COMS 3250 Communication Technology and Organizing (3 credits), 
COMS 4100 Cross Cultural Communication (3 credits),  
CONS 3250 Principles of Customer Service (3 credits),  
EDCE 3001 Case Management in Human Services (3 credits),  
EDCE 3003 Stress Management (3 credits),  
EDCE 4001 Human Service Professions (3 credits),  
EDCE 4980 Ethical Issues in Human Services (3 credits).  
 
The current major has a degree requirement that is no longer needed. Previously, students 
were required to take a statistics course before taking TAS 3210. Since that was a “hidden” 
prerequisite, a statistics course was listed as a degree requirement under Professional Skills 
Additional Requirements. That prerequisite was eliminated from TAS 3210 last year, so it is 
no longer needed for a degree requirement. Organizational Studies wants to remove the 
Professional Skills Additional Requirement. 
 
3. College of Arts & Sciences

Program Name: Experimental Psychology

In this program, doctoral students complete four types of courses: research (e.g., lectures, 
seminars, dissertations), analytic/quantitative (e.g., statistics), content (e.g., seminars within a 
psychology subdiscipline), and professional development (e.g., teaching seminar).  
 
To provide greater flexibility, we reduced the minimum content course requirement from 24 
to 12 credits and increased the minimum analytic/quantitative requirement from 9 to 13 
credits.  
The research course minimum requirement remains at 36 credits, though students will likely 
enroll in more research-related courses with the proposed changes.  
 
The scholarly tool requirement, previously 6 credits typically fulfilled through 
analytic/quantitative (e.g., statistics) courses, has been removed. In its place, the minimum 
analytic/quantitative course requirement was increased to 13 credits, to better align with the 
reality of students' course choices and the skills most beneficial for their post-graduate 
success. 
 
Professional development courses, while not previously listed as a formal requirement in the 
catalog, have been a longstanding expectation in our program. Accordingly, they have been 
added. 
 
Overall, these revisions result in less than 30% change in the curriculum, with no change to 
the total credit hours required for the program. Additionally, there is no impact on students’ 
abilities for timely completion of the program and no impact on other programs, schools, or 
departments outside the college.

the Junior year if they aren’t in the major yet.   
 
• Our accrediting body (CSWE) revised our educational policies and standards (EPAS); the 
new competencies went into effect in July, 2024. Our materials, including the website 
need to reflect the new EPAS. We have added “Students will be able to…” to the 
beginning of each competency to reflect the updated program learning outcomes.
