The human touch: exploring emotional attachment responses to human and Artificial Intelligence (AI)-generated imagery
Considering the new age of marketing, consumer reactions and interactions with marketing have drastically changed and flexed over the decades. The most recent hit revelation is AI marketing, specifically AI-generated images, and the worry that it brings to not only marketing specialists but to the whole community. Within other studies, there is often mention of an emotional connection to images used in advertisements (among videos, media, etc.) through various methods such as senses, loyalty, connection, and empathy. This paper works to better understand how AI-generated images used for advertising could affect emotional attachment and purchase behavior in consumers.https://commons.stmarytx.edu/rscpos25/1079/thumbnail.jp
Navigating outsourced manufacturing: General motors\u27 Strategic Challenges in Mexico
Outsourcing manufacturing has become a strategic necessity for many global corporations in today’s fast-changing global economy. Over the past decades, many U.S. companies have outsourced production to regions like Latin America and China, seeking geographical advantages, lower labor costs, and access to skilled workforces to remain competitive. General Motors, one of the largest automobile manufacturers globally, exemplifies this trend. By outsourcing production to Mexico since 1935, GM highlights how multinational companies strategically use outsourcing to optimize costs and improve efficiency. Employing over 25,000 workers and contributing over 12% of its annual production in 2023, GM demonstrates the broader significance of outsourcing for maintaining global competitiveness.https://commons.stmarytx.edu/rscpos25/1066/thumbnail.jp
Systematic review on alzheimer research
What is Alzheimer\u27s Disease?
• Alzheimer\u27s Disease (AD), is a degenerative disease, caused by a large buildup of Senile Plaques 1 in the spaces between neurons2 .
History
• AD was discovered by Aloise Alzheimer in 1906.1
• Term Alzherime\u27s Disease coined in 1910.1
Purpose of Review
• Abnormal deposits of Aβ linked to plaque buildup in 1984.1 Purpose of Review • This review was created to investigate the demographic data of empirical research conducted on the treatment of AD.
• Inspired by past shortcomings in research, like that of cardiovascular disease in women3 ,this review aimed to bring attention to any discrepancies between the research and the need of patients.
Uncured Ailment
• AD makes up 50 to 75% of all dementia, and there is currently no cure.
• There is still much to learn regarding preventive treatment and demographic-specific treatment. Most importantly, there is still a need for a cure.
Hypotheses
•It was expected that 67% of the participants would be female.4
•It was expected that the mean age of participants would be greater than 65 years old.4 •It was expected that 86% patients would have received drug therapy as form of treatment.. 5https://commons.stmarytx.edu/rscpos25/1049/thumbnail.jp
Borrowing in the dark: The role of financial education in payday loan dependence
Payday loans, a form of short-term, high-interest credit, have become a contentious financial instrument in the United States. Though they provide immediate access to cash for individuals, they are largely criticized for reinforcing consumers\u27 financial vulnerability. With APRs consistently surpassing 400%, payday loans not only carry high risk but continue to be widely popular, attracting an estimated 12 million Americans every year. This research delves into the relationship between financial literacy and the utilization of payday loans. The payday lending market thrives by targeting individuals in financial distress, who are typically lowincome, young, and economically marginalized, making them particularly susceptible to exploitative practices like hidden fees, rollovers, and usurious interest rates. This study examines how financial literacy influences reliance on payday loans, using NFCS data to analyze correlations while accounting for income, age, education, and psychological factors. It highlights how payday lenders exploit financially distressed individuals, trapping them in cycles of debt through hidden fees and high-interest rates.https://commons.stmarytx.edu/rscpos25/1041/thumbnail.jp

The silent pandemic: Link between depression, marijuana usage and mental health services after the Covid-19 pandemic
The National Surveys on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) measure substance use, mental illness, and treatment in the civilian noninstitutionalized population 12 or older. Depression is a public health epidemic that disproportionately affects young adult populations aged 18-25. At the same time, the consumption of marihuana is on the rise and more popular in this demographic group.
This statistical study aims to identify and model predictors of major depressive disorders (MDE) and marijuana abuse among populations older than 18 via standard tests, modeling, odds ratios, and epidemiological approaches for 2023 NSDUH data.https://commons.stmarytx.edu/rscpos25/1086/thumbnail.jp
Evaluation of angiogenesis in an Ex-Ovo Chick Chorioallantoic Membrane (CAM) assay to study the MMP9 gene in pediatric cancer cell lines
Model organisms are widely utilized in cancer research due to their ability to allow researchers to study biological processes that occur within cancer progression. One model organism that is used is the Chorioallantoic Membrane (CAM) assays. Chicken embryos are a sufficient model that are used to study processes such as angiogenesis, tumor growth, and drug effects. What makes these models useful is due to the cost efficiency, accessibility, and the increased speed the blood vessels can grow. Despite the results, it can be difficult to image the results or monitor the CAM assay. That is why Ex-ovo CAM assays have been an excellent choice for imaging/monitoring the CAM within the embryo. The Matrix Metalloproteinase-9 (MMP9) is an important protein with enzymatic activity that’s regulated by a class of endogenous proteins, tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases (TIMPS). These endogenous proteins are found within the components of living cells. The MMP9 family has also been shown to be a biomarker that may predict disease progression. When there is an imbalance of the MMP9 protein in the cell, cancer properties begin to form. We propose to utilize the CAM assay for the evaluation of the role of MMP9 in the angiogenesis process in pediatric sarcomas.https://commons.stmarytx.edu/rscpos25/1089/thumbnail.jp
