No full textWHY THIS SUBJECT? It is so very important to me to raise awareness about how women in media are perceived through the male gaze theory. The sexualization of women in media affects young girls so much and I wanted to show that through a collage.
WHAT SHOULD WE KNOW ABOUT THE WORK? chose a collage to fit multiple ideas into one poster. The inclusion of Only Fans has been debated so I wanted to explain my reasoning as well. I know Only Fans gives sex workers power to monetize off of the male gaze theory and can be positive is some ways, but still there is a lot of negativity that surrounds it, only fans pages are constantly getting leaked, men will send you hundreds of messages asking you to live out they\u27re weirdest sexual fantasies. Only Fans as a company also takes 20% of your profit which if you\u27re trying to make a living in turn causes you to post more and more and use their platform which is ultimately exploiting you. Some people have positive experiences with the site but some people have much more negative experiences, and growing up and seeing a website for sex workers with so much debate around it would not be good for a child\u27s mentality.

No full textWHY THIS SUBJECT? It was inspired by a piece on campus titled, Stop Telling Women to Smile. I remember seeing it the day I moved to Chicago and I instantly fell in love with it. I\u27m all about empowering women, and this piece does just that.
WHAT SHOULD WE KNOW ABOUT THE WORK? It went about 100000 different directions This was not my original idea I had in mind when I started. As I began painting and sketching, I decided to just scratch all original ideas I had and to just follow what I felt in the moment.
WHAT WAS YOUR PROCESS? I knew I wanted to stay true to the original artist\u27s theme of picturing women not smiling, but I wanted to do it in my own unique style. The Ever Lasting Abolishment
No full textWHY THIS SUBJECT? I wanted to talk about this topic due to the fact that even though slavery has been officially abolished by the 13th amendment in 1865, I believe that slavery still exists, but just under a more modern way that is somehow accepted in society. Even though people don\u27t actually physically own other human beings, the fact that racism still greatly exists towards black people shows how the abolishment of slavery was just the abolishment of public ownership of other people. The day every single person sees black people as the exact same equal person as them is the day slavery will actually be abolished.
WHAT SHOULD WE KNOW ABOUT THE WORK? For this specific poster idea I wanted it to be simple but powerful at the same time. I wanted three specific words to stand out to create a different sentence from the original longer sentence, Slavery Now Racism. The meaning of this sentence is to let the audience know that slavery still extsts but just now it is called a different word known as Racism. The background of my poster is a picture taken By a friend of mine named Carson Cloud who took this with a drone back when the black lives natter movement was starting to peek in 2020 after the death of George Floyd.
WHAT WAS YOUR PROCESS? I wanted to keep the poster really simple but I wanted to words to be kind of mysterious but straightforward right at the same time. Originally I had a different idea for the poster and when I uploaded my draft, I got the idea to make it very minimalistic to keep its meaning short and powerful. Originally I had a very different sentence that had the same meaning slavery still exists but just now in a legal way. No full textWHY THIS SUBJECT? I was inspired by my Environmental Science course to create a poster about environmentalism. Intersectionality discussions in this Art, Design and Change course inspired me to incorporate both environmentalism and capitalism. Many people in today’s society have lost touch with the natural world and only see its value in terms of how they can capitalize on the earth’s resources to make more money. Very little thought is given to how that will affect the future of the planet, human lives, and ironically the future economy. The goal of these posters is to change people’s minds about what holds the most value.
