    Get PDF
The objectives of this research were to find out whether the use of intrapersonal intelligence improves the students’ writing skills This research employed a Quasi-Experimental design. The sample consisted of 68 students in the third semester of business administration, academic year 2023/ 2024 Politeknik LP3I Makassar. The data were collected through the instrument: writing test for the student’s writing skills.  Data on the students’ writing skills were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The results of the research were: that the use of intrapersonal intelligence in teaching writing improved the students’ writing skills. Based on the result of data analysis as summarized on the pretest of the experimental and control groups, the researcher found that the Probability value (0.86) is higher than the level of significance at t-table (0.05) and the degree of freedom 58. It means that H0 was accepted and H1 was rejected. In other words, there was no significant difference between the students’ writing skills in both groups, the experimental and control groups before the treatment. It is supported by Gay (2006:124) states that when variables have equal intervals, it is assumed that the difference between close scores is essentially the same. The data on the posttest of the control and experimental group showed that the probability value was smaller than α (0.00<0.05). It indicated that the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. It means that Intrapersonal intelligence significantly increased the students’ writing skills. It can be concluded that the use of intrapersonal intelligence is effective to be implemented in improving the students’ writing skills

This study evaluates the effectiveness of information technology in interactive learning among college students. Data was obtained through the questionnaire, showing that information technology in interactive learning is very effective. Most students responded positively to accessibility, flexibility, interactivity, engagement, self-support, and variety of learning materials. Expressly, 100% of students agreed with the questions about these benefits. However, there were differences of opinion on several aspects. Regarding the suitability of learning speed and style, only 72.7 % of students felt that this system was suitable for their needs, while 27.3% thought it needed more. In addition, 90.9 % of students stated the ease of use and effectiveness of interaction, but some were still dissatisfied with these aspects. The conclusion of this study shows that although most students feel positive benefits from using information technology in learning, several areas need improvement, such as adjusting the speed and style of knowledge and the system's ease of use. Recommendations from this study include increasing system flexibility, optimizing interface design, and providing additional support for students. These findings can be a reference for developers of interactive learning systems and educational institutions who want to integrate information technology into the learning process more effectively

IMPLICATIONS OF BRUNER'S COGNITIVE THEORY ON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL EDUCATION IN THE 21ST CENTURY

    Get PDF
Jerome Bruner's cognitive theory plays a significant role in modern education, particularly in primary education, by emphasizing active student involvement in the learning process. This theory is structured around three stages of learning: enactive, iconic, and symbolic. Bruner's discovery learning approach encourages students to construct knowledge through exploration, fostering critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving. The spiral curriculum further supports continuous learning, revisiting basic concepts at progressively complex levels. In the context of 21st-century education, Bruner's theory aligns well with the development of higher-order thinking skills, communication, and collaboration, supported by the integration of technology. Despite the promising outcomes, challenges such as limited resources, teacher training, and technology integration remain. This literature review explores studies from 2010 to 2024 that analyze the application of Bruner's cognitive theory in primary education, with a focus on the effectiveness of discovery learning, scaffolding, and spiral curriculum in fostering critical thinking and 21st-century skill

HOW POST-POSITIVISM INFLUENCES SCIENCES EDUCATION IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS

    Get PDF
This research examines the influence of post-positivism on science education in Indonesia, focusing on its implications for elementary schools. The study adopts a qualitative approach, utilizing literature review (library research) as its methodology to gather data from various relevant sources (Kartiningrum, 2015). Post-positivism, which emerged as a modification of positivism, challenges the notion of absolute scientific truth and emphasizes the importance of subjectivity in understanding reality. In the context of education, this philosophical shift promotes a more critical, reflective approach to teaching science, encouraging students to question, analyze, and think critically rather than accept scientific knowledge as fixed. However, the integration of post-positivism in Indonesian science education raises concerns, particularly regarding the potential sidelining of spiritual, moral, and ethical values that are deeply embedded in the educational system. As the curriculum becomes more focused on empirical evidence and scientific reasoning, there is a risk that these values could be overshadowed. Despite this, post-positivism offers several benefits, including fostering problem-solving skills and adaptability in students. By analyzing the role of post-positivism within the Indonesian education system, this study provides insight into the advantages and challenges of integrating this philosophical approach into science education, while also considering the balance needed between scientific inquiry and the preservation of cultural and spiritual values. The findings suggest that a careful, context-sensitive application of post-positivism is essential for fostering a holistic educational experience

English is a medium for international communication and an essential language in extensive medical literature and research investigations, as seen by the numerous health books authored in English. The objective of this research is to investigate how English learning based on needs analysis affects the English language skills of nursing students. This research employed a pre-experimental approach to assess the impact of needs analysis-oriented English language instruction on nursing students' proficiency in English. This method was used as it enabled researchers to monitor alterations in students' English language proficiency post-intervention without necessitating a control group. The results of this study show that the mean scores were different; in the pretest, it was 31.45, while in the posttest, it was 69.65. This means that the students' English achievement in the posttest mean score was higher than the pretest. The posttest mean score is higher than the pretest mean score; the increase was 38.20. Besides that, the probability value was smaller than the level of significance 0.05. In conclusion, there is a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores. The authors hope that the English nursing book used in this study will be useful to many peopl

An Analysis of English Language Errors in Travel Brochures by students of SMKN 2 Maros

    No full text
This study looks at how students at SMKN 2 Maros see English language mistakes in travel brochures. Using a simple research method, data were gathered through a questionnaire with 20 questions, answered by 52 students from classes X DKV, X ULP, and XI ULP. The results showed that most students (55%) often notice language mistakes in travel brochures, which affects how they understand and view the content. Even though there are many mistakes, most students (61.54%) said they usually understand the meaning of the words in the brochures. This means that while mistakes are common, they do not completely stop students from understanding. However, these mistakes do affect how trustworthy and reliable the brochures seem to the readers. The study suggests that fixing the English in travel brochures could make them work better and be more appealing. By reducing language mistakes, brochures can do a better job of attracting and informing potential travellers. This research shows how important it is to have correct and clear language in promotional materials, highlighting the need for good editing and proofreading when making travel brochures
