No full textThe objective of this design project is to defy the functionality of ceramic tiles as a wall coating. This is a common material used in urban construction, however its environmental impact during its life cycle is often overlooked. The impact starts for mining the required materials, continuing in the industrialized production of the final product, and its disposal. Considering the mentioned life cycle, this project proposes an alternative wall covering system, which aims to a sustainable and efficient production that is also profitable. To achieve this, the following project uses different design methodologies which leaded to the result of a circular life cycle product. The principal characteristic of the coating system mural modular is its assembly and disassembly system. The three main components of this system are: aluminum profile structure, magnetic modules and supports. The profiles are anchored to the wall with screws, following a sequential placement of the magnetic supports. Once they are situated and adjusted, the modules can be placed with their cornerback magnets into the system. This system is reversible, which allows the freedom to choose the order, the graphics, and the materials. This modular characteristic allows an easy system maintenance, repairs to the components and recover materials in a usable state. This achieves the circular life cycle of the product and minimizing resource wastes and contribute with sustainable ideas that can help future projects.El presente proyecto de diseño pretende cuestionar la funcionalidad de las baldosas cerámicas como recubrimiento de paredes, siendo estas, uno de los materiales más comunes en el ámbito de la construcción urbana y que analizando su ciclo de vida se evidencia el impacto ambiental que genera, desde su extracción en minas, su producción industrializada y consumo de energías hasta ser desechado y acumulado por toneladas en los botaderos por años. Tomando como concepto base al ciclo de vida del producto, se propone un sistema de recubrimiento de paredes que logre generar una producción y comercialización más consiente y eficiente con los recursos de este planeta sin descartar también su rentabilidad. Para esto se utilizaron varias herramientas o metodologías de diseño que sirvieron de guía durante todo el proceso hasta dar con la propuesta final de un producto de ciclo de vida circular. El sistema de recubrimientos Mural Modular se caracteriza principalmente por ser armable y desarmable. Se compone de tres elementos principales que son: estructura de perfilería de aluminio, soportes y módulos magnéticos. La estructura funciona con perfiles que se anclan a la pared básicamente con tornillos, a partir de esto se van colocando los soportes magnéticos de manera secuencial, una vez estos estén situados y ajustados, se puede ir colocando los módulos que, con sus imanes esquineros se ensamblan a todo el sistema de manera reversible, teniendo la libertad de poder jugar con el orden, con la gráfica, hasta con el material. Esta característica modular permite dar mantenimiento al sistema, reparar sus elementos y recuperar materiales en buen estado, logrando así que se complete el ciclo, ahorrando recursos y aportando con ideas sustentables que pueden servir como avance para futuros proyectos

No full textThis interior design intervention project aims to prove the current state of heritage housing and above all give it optional use since the house is currently uninhabited. Which is why it has deteriorated over the years. The idea of creating an intercultural hotel is propose, given that there are several communal spaces that there are several communal spaces that allow interaction between guests, taking advantage of the large percentage of foreign tourists who visit the city of Otavalo. The building is located in the center of the city of Otavalo on Garcia Moreno street between Antonio José de Sucre and Modesto Jaramillo. Because its construction is over 100 years old, the building has a partial heritage value since the back od the building has a partial heritage value since the back of the building was built years later. The interior design intervention was carried out throughout the house, both the heritage and the new part that has approximately 1050 square meters of construction. The proposal was carried our with the concept of the Chakana, this Andean cross is of great significance in indigenous culture and is characterized by being a staircase that connects opposites such as the sun an moon, the live and the dead, among others. In this case I have used the chakana as a symbol between the union of cultures and the geometry that this provides us with was used to create some spaces within the building. Within the intervention, new proposals were made for wall, floor and ceiling coverings. A proposal for adequate lighting, vegetation and ergonomic furniture was incorporated. Within what is distribution, the existing distribution of the rooms was respected due to its heritage value, however, the rehabilitation of the central courtyard was carried out where a cloister like route was created around it, which previously was limited by walls that gave narrow spaces a rise without any use.Este proyecto de intervención interiorista pretende mejorar el estado actual de la vivienda patrimonial y sobre todo darle un uso óptimo ya que la vivienda se encuentra deshabitada actualmente, razón por la cual se ha ido deteriorando con el pasar de los años. Se propone la idea de la creación de un hotel Intercultural donde se cuenta con varios espacios comunales que permiten la interacción entre huéspedes, aprovechando el gran porcentaje de turistas extranjeros que visitan la ciudad de Otavalo. La edificación se encuentra ubicada en el centro de la ciudad de Otavalo en la calle García Moreno entre las calles Antonio José de Sucre y Modesto Jaramillo. Debido a que su construcción supera los 100 años aproximadamente la edificación posee un valor patrimonial parcial ya que la parte posterior de la edificación se construyó años después. La intervención interiorista se realizó en toda la vivienda, tanto lo patrimonial como la parte nueva que cuenta aproximadamente con 1050 metros cuadrados de construcción. La propuesta se llevó a cabo con el concepto de la Chakana, esta cruz andina es de gran significado en la cultura indígena y se caracteriza por ser una escalera que conecta los opuestos como el sol y la luna, los vivos y los muertos, entre otros. En este caso he usado la chakana como símbolo entre la unión de culturas y se aprovechó la geometría que esta nos proporciona para la creación de algunos espacios dentro de la edificación. Dentro de la intervención se hicieron propuestas nuevas de revestimientos de paredes, pisos y cielo raso. Se incorporó una propuesta de iluminación adecuada, vegetación y mobiliario ergonómico. Dentro de lo que es distribución se respetó la distribución existente de las habitaciones debido a su valor patrimonial, sin embargo, se realizó la rehabilitación del patio central donde se creó un recorrido tipo claustro alrededor del mismo que anteriormente se veía limitado por paredes que daban lugar a espacios estrechos sin utilidad alguna

No full textFeline Immunodeficiency Virus (also known as feline AIDS, with FIV acronym) and Feline Viral Leukemia (with FeLV acronym), are immunosuppressive infectious diseases, that affect domestic and wild felines, and are of importance because they provide the conditions for other infectious agents to invade and multiply in the same host. The main objective of this study was to evaluate the frequency of presentation of the AIDS and feline leukemia viruses in 3 veterinary hospitals in Quito in the period 2013 to 2018 (5 years) and relate it to demographic characteristics of the animals at the time of diagnosis. This was executed at the All Pets, Dogtor´s Cat and Lucky Veterinary Hospitals, by reviewing medical records of the aforementioned period, of which a descriptive and analytical statistical analysis was carried out based on demographic variables “sex", "reproductive status", "age", "reason for consultation" and "access to the outside". Data were analyzed from those animals that had undergone the diagnostic snap for IVF/FeLV, obtaining a total population of 321 patients, of whom 4.36 per cent (14 cases) tested positive for AIDS and 16.82 per cent (54 cases) tested positive for Leukemia. Within the population of positive felines, a chi square test was performed to assess the dependency relationship between the variables mentioned and presentation of Feline Aids and Leukemia. As a result, felines diagnosed with Feline AIDS did not have a relationship with the variables studied. In the case of Feline Leukemia a relationship of dependence was found with the presence of the disease in whole males (p equal 0.000), in the age range of 5 to 9 years (p equal 0.008), altered (p equal 0.024) and whose reason for consultation was related to the symptomatology of the disease (p equal 0.008). No full textThe need to attend more devices by ensuring higher data rate speeds with greater reliability and less energy consumption has forced the birth of a new generation of mobile communications, denominated fifth generation (5G), that is based, among other things, on the application of various technologies, among which the use of tens or hundreds of antennas in the receiver stands out and it is known as massive MIMO. This work evaluates the performance of a massive MIMO system that uses the ZF (Zero Forcing) detector and the MMSE (Minimum Square Mean Error) detector in channels with Rice-type fading considering M-QAM modulations. To this end, simulation algorithms were implemented in the Matlab software in order to generate bit error rate (BER) curves as function of the signal-to-noise ratio. Furthermore, these curves were obtained by modifying the system operating parameters such as the number of receiving antennas, the modulation order (M-QAM), and the power of the line-of-sight component (LOS) of the Rice channel. The results show that the MMSE detector achieves a lower BER than the ZF detector, this is because the MMSE detector reduces the mean square error between the transmitted bits and estimated bits by the receiver and makes it the best candidate in the presence of noise, this improvement is greater when the number of antennas in the receiver increases. In addition, it is evident that the use of 64-QAM improves the transmission rate, but the performance of the system degrades because this modulation is more susceptible to noise.La necesidad de atender a más dispositivos garantizando velocidades de datos más altas con una mayor confiabilidad y consumir menos energía ha obligado al nacimiento de una nueva generación de comunicaciones móviles, denominada de quinta generación “5G” que se basa, entre otras cosas, en la aplicación de diversas tecnologías entre las que destaca el uso de decenas o cientos de antenas en el receptor, y se conoce como MIMO masivo..
Identificación y caracterización fenotípica y molecular de la resistencia a colistina en escherichia coli y klebsiella pneumoniae aisladas de heces de humanos y de animales de traspatio en comunidades rurales de la Costa y Amazonía ecuatoriana
No full textColistin is considered a last resort antimicrobial for treatment against multiresistant Gram negative bacteria. Currently, its efficiency is threatened by its vast use in veterinary medicine for more than 50 years, with therapeutic, prophylactic, metaphylactic and growth promoter approaches. In 2016, the first gene of a plasmid nature that confers resistance to colistin, mcr-1, was described. In the same year, researchers reported the first and only clinical isolate in Escherichia coli carrying this gene in Ecuador. In 2019, a backyard animal study was conducted and colistin resistance was detected in 47 percent of individuals. For this reason, in this research, the resistance of E. coli and K. pneumoniae to colistin was identified and characterized phenotypically and molecularly from fecal samples of human and backyard animals in rural communities of Santo Domingo and Pastaza in Ecuador. For this, the sampling was performed by rectal swabbing of the backyard animals and obtaining human fecal samples in collection flasks. The samples were seeded on CHROMagar ™ COL-APSE agar and grown for 18 hours at 37 degrees Celsius. The bacteria of interest were identified, their phenotypic resistance to the antibiotic was evaluated, it was determined if they presented the mcr-1 gene by means of conventional PCR and, finally, the results were confirmed with Sanger-type sequencing. Of the 438 faecal samples, 86 percent of E. coli and 37 percent of K. pneumoniae were obtained; of these, 90 percent of E. coli and 20 percent of K. pneumoniae had the resistance gene, mcr-1. However, only 0.74 percent of the isolates were phenotypically resistant to colistin. This shows that the degree of coincidence between the two detection methods is low. On the other hand, when comparing these data with those published in the year 2019 in Ecuador, it is observed that there is a significant increase in resistant E. coli in the studied communities and in this investigation, K. pneumoniae carriers were detected for the first time of the mcr-1 gene in Ecuador, therefore it is essential to take surveillance measures to prevent the spread of mcr-1-mediated resistance.La colistina es considerada un antimicrobiano de último recurso para el tratamiento contra bacterias Gram negativas multirresistentes. Actualmente, su eficiencia se ve amenazada por su vasto uso en medicina veterinaria por más de 50 años, con enfoques terapéuticos, profilácticos, metafilácticos y como promotor de crecimiento. En 2016, se describió el primer gen de naturaleza plasmídica que confiere resistencia a colistina, mcr-1. En el mismo año, investigadores reportaron el primer y único aislamiento clínico en Escherichia coli portadora de este gen en Ecuador. En 2019, se realizó un estudio en animales de traspatio y se detectó la resistencia a colistina en el 47 por ciento de los individuos. Por esto, en esta investigación se identificó y caracterizó fenotípica y molecularmente la resistencia de E. coli y K. pneumoniae a colistina a partir de muestras fecales de humanos y de animales de traspatio en comunidades rurales de Santo Domingo y Pastaza en el Ecuador. Para esto, la toma de muestra se realizó mediante un hisopado rectal de los animales de traspatio y la obtención de muestras fecales humanas en frascos de recolección. Las muestras fueron sembradas en agar CHROMagar™ COL-APSE y cultivadas por 18 horas a 37 grados Celsius. Se identificaron las bacterias de interés, se evaluó su resistencia fenotípica al antibiótico, se determinó si estas presentaban el gen mcr-1 mediante PCR convencional y finalmente, se confirmaron los resultados con secuenciación tipo Sanger. De las 438 muestras fecales, se obtuvo un 86 por ciento de E. coli y un 37 por ciento de K. pneumoniae; de estas, el 90 por ciento de E. coli y el 20 por ciento de K. pneumoniae presentaron el gen de resistencia, mcr-1. Sin embargo, solo el 0.74 por ciento de los aislados fueron fenotípicamente resistentes a la colistina. Esto demuestra que el grado de coincidencia entre los dos métodos de detección es bajo. Por otra parte, al comparar estos datos con los publicados en el año 2019 en Ecuador, se observa, que existe un incremento importante de E. coli resistentes en las comunidades estudiadas y en esta investigación, se detectó por primera vez, K. pneumoniae portadoras del gen mcr-1 en Ecuador, por lo que es indispensable tomar medidas de vigilancia para evitar la diseminación de la resistencia mediada por mcr-1

No full textAs a result of the urban analysis carried out in the ARO - 860, it was determined that there are a series of problems in the study area, in this case El Batán. One of the main problems identified in said analysis is the lack of permeability, generated by blind walls, the large size of blocks causing insecurity, also the lack of green areas and public space in the sector, despite its proximity to the metropolitan park. which is not precisely integrated into the urban piece analyzed. In order to generate alternative solutions within the sector, several proposals were raised which help the sector to have sustainable, resilient and diverse characteristics. Within the urban proposal, the implementation of various facilities within the area is proposed, each with different vocations, complementing and enhancing the sector. As a result of this series of equipment, the idea was born to implement an Urban Agriculture Research Center within the study area, which allows articulating and also preserving the native flora of the Metropolitan District of Quito. Today it is vitally important that a city is made up of public space and green areas, since these contribute many forms to its well-being, increasing the quality of life for the inhabitants of the area. The excessive growth of the city of Quito has generated the destruction of many forests and native ecosystems in the area, so these resources have been exhausted, which act as natural lungs of the cities, improving the quality of the air and the ecosystem, more of the overpopulation that affects the way of life creating situations of hunger and conflict. The preservation of the biodiversity of species in the city is of utmost importance since it helps to provide essential services for the well-being of society with ecological, recreational, educational values, etc. Currently in the area where the equipment is proposed there is a deficit of green area since there is no vegetation. The implementation of an Urban Research Center can help integrate the natural green from the Güanguiltagua Metropolitan Park to the urban piece analyzed.A raíz del análisis urbano realizado en el ARO – 860 se determinó que existe una serie de problemáticas en la zona de estudio, en este caso El Batán. Una de las principales problemáticas identificadas en dicho análisis es la falta de permeabilidad, generada por muros ciegos, el gran tamaño de manzanas provocando la inseguridad, también la falta de áreas verdes y espacio público en el sector a pesar de su cercanía con el parque metropolitano el cual no se integra adecuadamente a la pieza urbana analizada. Para generar alternativas de solución dentro del sector se plantearon varias propuestas las cuales ayuden al sector a tener características sostenibles, resilientes, y diversas. Dentro de la propuesta urbana se plantea la implementación de varios equipamientos dentro de la zona, cada uno con distintas vocaciones, complementado y potencializando el sector. A raíz de esto esta de serie de equipamientos nace la idea de implementar dentro de la zona de estudio un Centro de Investigación de Agricultura Urbana el cual permita articula y también preservar la flora nativa del Distrito Metropolitano de Quito. Hoy en día es de vital importancia que una ciudad este conformada por espacio público y áreas verdes, ya que estas aportan de muchas formas al bienestar de esta, incrementado calidad de vida a los habitantes de la zona. El crecimiento desmesurado de la ciudad de Quito ha generado la destrucción de muchos bosques y ecosistemas nativos de la zona por lo que se han agotado estos recursos los cuales actúan como pulmones naturales de las ciudades, mejorando la calidad del aire y del ecosistema, a más de la sobrepoblación que afecta en la forma de vida creando situaciones de hambre y de conflicto. No full textVirtual reality allows changing the perception of personal space, taking a person to digitally created environments, which can be buildings, cities and even places completely taken from fiction. This work seeks to explore the possibilities offered by new virtual reality devices to support motor skills in children between four and six years old, a function of previous works that report interesting findings regarding the use of technology at the service of society. An analysis of the advantages and basic concepts of fine and gross motor skills is carried out, in addition to a review of the disadvantages framework presented by the use of virtual reality, an exploration of SCRUM work, to obtain the necessary knowledge to carry out the project; which is programmed using the Unity development environment and is directly tested using an Oculus Quest viewer and the virtual environment designed and created by the author, to validate the objectives sought, managing to demonstrate that the use of virtual reality to support motor skills is feasible.La realidad virtual permite cambiar la percepción del espacio personal, llevar a una persona a en tomos creados digitalmente, pudiendo ser edificios, ciudades e incluso lugares completamente llevados desde la ficción. El presente trabajo busca explorar las posibilidades que brindan los nuevos dispositivos de realidad virtual para el apoyo a la motricidad de niños de cuatro a seis años, función en trabajos previos que reportan interesantes hallazgos respecto al uso de la tecnología al servicio de la sociedad. Se realiza un análisis de las ventajas y conceptos básicos de motricidad fina y gruesa, además de un repaso del marco desventajas que presenta el uso de la realidad virtual, una exploración de trabajo SCRUM, para obtener los conocimientos necesarios para realizar el proyecto; el cual se programa usando el entorno de desarrollo Unity y se prueba directamente empleando un visor Oculus Quest y el entorno virtual diseñado y creado por el autor, para validar los objetivos buscados, logrando demostrar que el uso de la realidad virtual para apoyar la motricidad es factible

El estudio del cliente muestra que en San Petesburgo existe una demanda permanente por frutos secos de calidad, a través de distribuidores consolidados, por lo que el mercado es atractivo y con alto potencial. La idea de negocio es interesante porque el balance situacional es positivo y el mercado muy atractivo, en consecuencia al ofertar uvilla orgánica deshidratada que cumpla los requerimientos del mercado es posible ingresar exitosamente en él. The proposal consists of redefining and making the most of the spaces, generating new functional areas for both customers and employees, in turn showing the identity of the company. Providing interactive and informative attention and exhibition areas that allow the user to interact with the products and learn more about the company and the Goodyear brand. An experience room will be implemented where modules with digital and touch screens with slides of the history of Antonio Pino Ycaza and Goodyear will be placed, and characteristic products will also be exhibited. In the same way, virtual reality devices that seek to create an experience related to the commercialized products will be used. Likewise, stands will be included for tire exhibition with digital informations that allow a better understanding of the product. Lastly, the offices will implement new collaborative work areas, meeting rooms, a co-working room, in addition to integrating recreation spaces such as a cafeteria space that functions as a central point in the project and has a natural garden that helps purify the air. Likewise, the container located at the back is being used to develop a rest room with an exterior view where an outdoor meeting area will be included. The idea of the project is to generate open spaces, with transparent elements, breaking with the traditional concept of a mechanical workshop and allowing the client to directly relate to the product. In the first chapter, we will observe the project's development based on PEST and PORTER analysis and identify the scenario in which the company will be developed and/or installed. It will be located in CIIU 4.0: M7020.01. Similarly, in the following chapters, qualitative (focus group and interviews) and quantitative (surveys) research methods were implemented to identify potential clients such as sports fields rentals, training schools, sports initiation schools, local and provincial football leagues, federations, sport event’s organizers, high-performance athletes, and others. As a result, we defined specific services that these organizations will require and considered different marketing strategies such as brand positioning, mix marketing (product, price, place, promotion), etc. Additionally, it studied the organization's operating system to develop an organizational structure.
