CSR Website Disclosure and Company Business Performance: The Role of Corporate Reputation and Cost Leadership Strategy
Research on CSR disclosure and company business performance has shown inconsistent results. Therefore, this study aims to deepen understanding by incorporating corporate reputation as a mediating variable and cost leadership strategy as a moderating variable. This study provides empirical evidence of the mediating role of corporate reputation and the moderating role of the cost leadership strategy in the influence of CSR website disclosure on company business performance. The research sample consists of non-financial companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the 2017-2022 period. Purposive sampling techniques guided the sample selection, yielding 309 firm-year observations. We obtained the research data from Datastream Revinitiv Eikon, company websites, and company annual reports. We conducted hypothesis testing using STATA 17 software. The results of the study show that the cost leadership strategy weakens the influence of CSR website disclosure on company business performance
The Substance of Indonesian Women Directors in Creating Value
This paper aims to provide insight into the impact of the existence of female directors in the board of directors on firm value by taking into consideration the educational level and tenure of women directors in the governance of Indonesia’s companies. The hypotheses are tested on 177 Indonesian listed companies in the IDX between 2015-2020, manufacturing and retail industries, using the weighted least squares regressions. The evidence conveys that the educational level rather than the simple presence of women directors can increase firm value. Additionally, results reveal that the tenure of women is negatively related to firm value, as it might impair the board's independence. This study explores the potential of women on board through their educational level and tenure in the firms. Future studies may expand to include factors such as family background, reputation, and other personal or professional elements that can enhance women's performance in companies. Few studies have addressed the impact of women across different industries, especially in developing economies. This research contributes by examining the demographic variables of women board members that are still poorly apprehended (i.e. their educational level and tenure) in such a setting
Improvement of Shear Strength of Clay Shale Soil using Polymer-Calcite Precipitation (PCP) as Soil Stabilization Technique
Clay shale is an expansive soil owing to its shrinkage and expansion, leading to geotechnical issues, such as loss of strength. This study explored the effectiveness of the Polymer–Calcite Precipitation (PCP) method in improving clay shale's shear strength. This study evaluated the optimum Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA) concentration for enhancing the shear strength and identifying the residual shear strength of the treated soil. Various tests were conducted to determine the soil properties and assess soil improvement using direct shear tests. The results indicate that adding PVA increases the cohesion value of saturated clay shale and maintains its residual strength close to its peak strength value, with the optimum concentration of 4% PVA boosting cohesion from 4.47 kPa to 32.83 kPa. In conclusion, the PCP method effectively enhances the shear strength of clay shale and offers a potential solution for soil stabilization
Reduce CO2 Emissions Using Double Skin Façade in Smart & Green Learning Center UGM Promoting Sustainable Building
The Smart & Green Learning Center is a tower building that offers coworking spaces on both its east and west sides. The objective of this study is to explore the impact of a double skin façade on heat generation and CO2 gas emissions in co-working spaces. To achieve this, the IES Virtual Environment software simulation method was employed. The monthly average heat gain without the use of a double skin façade ranged from 19 to 21.9 MWh, while the same metric with a double skin façade was between 14.1 and 16.1 MWh. This resulted in a decrease of 4.9 MWh (25.79%) for the lowest monthly average heat gain and a decrease of 5.8 MWh (26.48%) for the highest. Moreover, the use of a double skin façade led to a reduction in CO2 gas emissions by 20.7% to 21.1% at the Smart & Green Learning Center
Work Systems in A Metal Casting Company Using MEAD Approach
Metal casting MSMEs in Indonesia often experience production inefficiencies, excessive workload, and inadequate occupational health and safety measures, resulting in reduced productivity and high worker fatigue. This study addresses these challenges by employing a macro-ergonomic framework to analyze and redesign work systems, specifically focusing on integrating cardiovascular workload (%CVL) analysis to quantify physiological strain, an approach rarely applied in small-scale industrial settings. The research was conducted at a representative metal casting MSME using the ten-step Macro-Ergonomic Analysis and Design (MEAD) method. Data collection involved direct field observations, organizational assessments, worker interviews, and physiological monitoring using wearable pulse sensors. Workload was evaluated using %CVL and energy expenditure calculations, while noise levels were measured using a sound level meter. Initial findings revealed that the average %CVL among workers reached 38.99%, categorized as “needs improvement,” with notable issues including unsafe working conditions, excessive overtime, and noise exposure exceeding 95 dB. To mitigate these issues, interventions were designed, including developing standard operating procedures (SOPs) for personal protective equipment, improved supervisory practices, and an additional 10-minute work break based on rest time calculations. Post-intervention measurements showed a reduction in average %CVL to 23.35%, bringing most workers below the fatigue threshold of 30%, alongside reported improvements in safety awareness and work satisfaction. The results demonstrate that integrating %CVL-based workload analysis within a macro-ergonomic framework provides a practical and effective solution for enhancing occupational health and productivity in labor-intensive MSMEs. This approach offers a scalable model for policymakers and industry practitioners to address systemic ergonomic deficiencies in similar informal industrial sectors
