    Optimization of Methane Production from Macroalgae Feedstock using Multivariate Technique under Mesophilic and Thermophilic Conditions

    A multivariate technique was used to optimize methane production from anaerobic digestion of macroalgae under mesophilic and thermophilic conditions. To evaluate the effects and interaction of three reaction variables: COD, VFA, and ammonia on methane production, their data recorded in a time order were subjected to fit and multiple regression analysis, which generated a second order quadratic polynomial equation used to predict the optimized methane production. The ANOVA results showed the developed model for the mesophilic (p< 0.003) and thermophilic (p< 0.000) reactors are significant. Their R2 values of 0.97 and 0.99 suggest it was suitable for interpreting the experimental data set and adjusted R2 of (0.91 and 0.97) indicates good regression models. The interaction terms  for mesophilic and thermophilic reactors, has a positive influence on methane production compared to other terms. The model predicted the optimal reactors conditions, derived as X1: COD = 6.6 g L-1, X2: VFAs = 2.8 g L-1, X3: Ammonia = 1.3 g L-1 for the mesophilic reactor, and X1: COD = 6.7 g L-1, X2: VFAs = 2.5 g L-1, X3: Ammonia = 1.1 g L-1 for the thermophilic reactor. &nbsp

    Solar Energy in South Punjab/Pakistan: Domestic Users’ Perceptions

    Keeping in view the significance of social receiving of energy systems, this study presents data by evaluating domestic users’ perceptions regarding solar energy in Layyah and Bakhar (South Punjab/Pakistan). 120 domestic users were served with structured questionnaires by applying prevailing and inclined trends for solar energy. The findings of domestic users survey revealed that prevailing trend for solar energy is quite satisfactory as 60% of domestic users are already using solar as an alternative and the level of satisfaction is also 60%. General potential and inclined trends for solar energy found 82% in support of solar energy. Solar energy is expedient in a way to manage Pakistan’s energy crisis by focusing on domestic user’s perceptions.&nbsp

    Effects of Salinity on Growth of Tomato

    This research work reports effects of salinity on external and internal morphology of tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum. M.) Plants under salt stress conditions showed inhibition in root, shoot and leaf growth. Fresh and dry weight of roots and shoot was also reduced in plants treated with higher concentrations of NaCl. Leaves also showed yellowing and stunted growth which was further evaluated by estimating the chlorophyll content which was significantly reduced under higher concentrations of NaCl. Enzymatic activity like acid phosphatase and peroxidases was also altered in plants treated with higher concentration of salt, suggesting the sensitivity of tomato plants against saline conditions

Targeted CO2 reduction cost, the reason is because UAE     having one of the largest carbon footprints on the planet, and it can be minus taking the benefits of lower energy bills into account, to even better figures when national grants are included. It is possible to simultaneously save CO2 and money!     Arsenic in Surface Waters: A Report from River Ganga and its Tributary Jamania at Bhagalpur, Bihar, India

    An investigation has been carried out to examine the arsenic pollution status of River Ganga & its tributary Jamania during pre-monsoon period of  2017 at Bhagalpur, Bihar (India). Altogether 17 water samples from different sampling sites along with their geo co-ordinates have been investigated for the value of arsenic using FTK test as well as spectrophotometer method. Throughout the study, arsenic value ranged from 10.69 ppb to 55.92 ppb. Out of the 17 water samples, the values of arsenic in 13 samples were from 20ppb to 54.1ppb. The concentration levels of arsenic in all the 17 river water samples and 2 public water supply samples (source: river water) in the present study were found above from the permissible limit of WHO (2008) and BIS (2004-2005) standards for drinking which is 10 ppb (part per billion)

    Detection of Pedestrians and Helmets in Large Construction Site

    It is necessary for workers to wear helmets when working in large construction sites. The traditional way to supervise the workers whether wearing helmets or not for safety is artificial, which have brought out many problems such as many blind spots, labor and time costing. Since a large number of surveillance cameras are currently installed in these construction sites, the surveillance video can be developed in taking the place of human supervision in an intelligent way. This paper designs a pedestrian and helmet detection network based on Faster R-CNN. In feature extraction, we have chosen the Residual Network (Resnet) combined with the Feature Pyramid Network (FPN) because the objects have small size, low resolution and less semantic information in whole scenes. We have also designed a parallel residual Block (PRB) combined with the Receptive Field Block (RFB) to strength feature extraction. The feature maps obtained from different convolution layers have been fused twice. And we have studied two fusion methods. Experiment results from our own dataset show that our proposed detection network improves the mAP by 8.74% and 2.3% respectively compared with Yolov3 and Faster R-CNN, at the cost of 0.3 FPS slower than Faster R-CNN

    Times of Application of Boron in Irrigated Rice Genotypes in Tropical Varzeas

    Boron is an important micronutrient for all vegetables, being part of several metabolic functions within cells. Rice stands out as a staple food for more than half the world’s population and requires small amounts of boron. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of boron application at different times in the culture of irrigated rice in the conditions of the floodplains in the Southwest of the State of Tocantins. The experiment was installed at Fazenda Santa Rita, municipality of Lagoa da Confusão-TO in the 2015/2016 harvest, in bands, with a randomized block design, in a 4 x 4 factorial scheme, with 4 repetitions. The dose of 3.0 kg ha ?1 of boron was applied, in the form of borax, via leaf, in four seasons. WereFour lowland rice cultivars (IRGA-424, IRGA-424 RI, IRGA-425, and IRGA-426) were used. The characteristics evaluated were: plant height, number of panicles, spikelet sterility, the mass of one hundred grains, grain yield, whole grains, and grain yield. Boron resulted in higher productivity. The highest yields were achieved with borate fertilization at 60 and 75 days after emergence. The genotypes IRGA-424 RI and IRGA-425 proved to be more efficient in the use of boron, is recommended at any time of application of the micronutrient

    If we start from the fact that in the structure and function of the human body, the relations and functions that are in the golden ratio can be recognized, we in this article, extended this idea to the duration of human life. Based on the golden ratio, we divided human life into certain phases, bounded by characteristic numbers, and observed differences in the flow of physical and biological time in individual phases. We have shown that in certain phases, physical time, compared to biological time, flows at different rate. We have also shown that there is a difference in the points/numbers that determine the time phases of a man\u27s and a woman\u27s life: for example, a man enters the youth phase at the age of 21, and a woman at the age of 18; the males are in the mature stage at 34, the females at 29; a man enters the old age phase at 55 and a woman at 47. Because of these differences we conclude that the biological time of man and woman flows at different rates, so it is possible to speak of men’s and women’s biological time
