    Multivariate Analysis of Psychometric Variables Affecting Job Satisfaction Among School Teachers: A Case Study at Primary and Secondary Schools in Shashemene Town, Ethiopia

    This study has dealt with factors affecting the level of job satisfaction among school teachers at Shashemene town in 2010/11 academic year. Data were obtained from primary and secondary sources. A cross-sectional survey was conducted on a total of 405 teachers from different government and non-government schools using stratified random sampling technique. In the present study, the relationships between psychometric items (55-items) were examined by the combination of factor analysis and Bayesian logistic regression analysis. Firstly, factor analysis was used to group the items of the same characters as factors or explanatory variables of job satisfaction among teachers. Then, ten factors, having eigen-values greater than 1, were selected as independent variables and the factor scores coefficients were used in the Bayesian logistic regression analysis. It was found that eight unobserved variables had significant effects on job satisfaction

    Hardware Implementation of Chipless RFID Reader and Tags for Moving Targets Identification and Tracking

    Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a rapidly growing technology with significant security implications for humans and military ambushes. In this paper, the hardware implementation of a chipless RFID system using highly efficient Texas instrumentation components is introduced. We introduced the hardware implementation of both RFID reader and 5-bits chipless tags. The proposed reader system is equipped with an ultra-wideband (UWB) radio frequency (RF) power detector that allows the reader to read different types of tags with different code lengths over the frequency range from  to . The proposed spiral resonators based RFID tags are fabricated using microstrip technology on a cheap FR4 lossy substrate with a dielectric constant of , loss tangent , and thickness . The tags are designed using the computer simulation technology (CST) microwave studio software package. Fortunately, it is found that the experimental measurements of the scattering parameters of the fabricated tags are highly matched to the simulation results

    Calculating Environmental Design Loads for Floating Wind Turbine

    Analysis of complicated structures usually requires; choice of the commercial software as well as good formulation of elements, and loads. The LS-DYNA3D explicit finite element dynamic analysis programme is believed to be good in performing structural analysis of a floating wind turbine and in simulating a full-scale model typical for moderate deep waters. The intended model for which loads are discussed is a middle size power rated floating 3 blades wind turbine elevated at about 50 m above main sea level a top a tripod lattice steel tower firmly resting on a moored floating concrete hull buoy, positioned on a concrete circular disk. The model is intended for use in moderately deep waters of up to 500m. The knowledge of floating offshore wind structures and important features of the LS-DYNA3D code are briefly revised. The theoretical basics for service loads experienced by the floating wind turbine are explored and the environmental loads are quantified and ready for use in the analysis

    Typically, linear strain triangle LST is widely used for elastic analysis not only due to its ease but also due to the good results it can lead to over the traditional constant strain triangle CST. In plane elastic analysis of two combined materials the LST is quite reliable and trust worthy in terms of stress results for the same element size, LST is very useful in modelling combined materials thus believed to be efficient and can easily take into consideration, self-weight of used materials, strains due to causes other than loading; such as moisture, temperature, creep and shrinkage are easily incorporated. A mathematical formulation of stiffness matrix, stress and the more rarely dealt with consistent load vector for loads distributed on element edge are proved and highlighted for young engineers who mostly dealing with readily used FE codes, the formula proved for LST element load vector is further extended and thus a consisted load vector for conical axe-symmetric shell element is introduced

    Preliminary Study of the Prevalence of Atypical Swallowing and Oral Breath in Albanian Children

    Introduction: There are a lot of oral habits where is included even non-nutritional habits. These habits have an impact in development of malocclusion in transversal, sagittal, and vertical plane. Appearance of this malocclusion can be explained by equilibrium theory. Aim of this study is to analyze demographic profiles of patients with atypical swallowing and oral breath. Material and methods: The type of study that is done on this focus is “literature review”. In this study are used sources like: scientific journals, books and online studies in PubMed, MEDLINE, Google Scholar, SciELO. Chosen studies included a group target of children until age 15 with no other selective criteria. Results: In our country patient with atypical swallowing resulted in 7.6% while oral breath resulted in 19.58% of cases making this the second most frequent habit after thumb sucking. Similar results were nearly found in these types of studies in neighboring countries. The data were analyzed according to gender. Conclusions: Oral breath and atypical swallowing are present in a high frequency in the age group that is taken in study. Study results are similar with the results of the same type of studies in other places. Only a few significant changes were found. It aims to develop preventive strategies to reduce these type of habits. Also it is needed the cooperation between specialists to do early diagnose and to early treat malocclusions

    The Conditions of Amplification for Nano Quantum Diodes

    It is well known that nanomaterials are described by quantum laws. In this work quantum treatment for two metal contacts or diodes on a nanoscale was done. A useful expression for the input and output current is found by using the notion of the current density in quantum mechanics. The conditions required by this contact to act as a rectifier and amplifier are discussed. It found that certain restrictions should be imposed on the potential and the wave number for the metal contact to act as an amplifier. This requires the potential barrier to be positive this requires the region of incident current to have work function less than the transmuted one

    A 12-year-old Girl with a Distance Visual Acuity of 10/10 (OD) and Light Perception (OS), Found in a School for Blind People in a Town Located in Central Côte d’Ivoire: An Isolated Case?

    Children’s visual impairment is a significant barrier to their education, especially in low-income countries, due to the scarcity of specialized institutions for this purpose. We report the case of a 12-year-old girl found in a school for the blind in a town in central Côte d\u27Ivoire. She had stopped attending school two years earlier, due to an eye disease and was in her first year of learning braille in order to continue her education. This girl’s examination showed a distance visual acuity of 10/10 in her right eye. The visual acuity in the left eye was limited to light perception.  The presence of that young girl in a specialized institution for the blind education raises questions about the real motivations and eligible criteria in these institutions in socio-economic environments like ours

    Optical Phenomena in Time Dependent Medium

    How to deal with optical phenomena if the physical quantities are time-dependent? When a light wave propagating in space meets an interface between two media, a transmitted and a reflected wave appears. However, if a medium abruptly changes the value of its dielectric constant, even without an interface dividing space, we also have the phenomenon of reflection and refraction. Thinking of time as a coordinate similar to the spatial coordinates, the interface found also provides a change in the medium. But a change in time. Thus, known relationships, such as Snell’s Law, should be reviewed for such phenomena. This article deals with some situations where we have non-fixed dielectric constants, changing with time. From Maxwell’s equations, we demonstrate how to simulate the propagation of an electromagnetic wave in a medium that varies its dielectric constant over time. We used the finite difference method in the time domain (FDTD). We show the interesting phenomenon of temporal refraction and reflection

    Prevalence of Diabetes Mellitus II and Impaired Fasting Glycemia in Patients Diagnosed with Pulmonary Tuberculosis at the Bamenda Regional Hospital - Cameroon

    The rising prevalence of diabetes mellitus (DM) and its association with tuberculosis (TB) and the persistence is a major public health problem worldwide, especially in developing countries,thus emphasizing the importance of investigating this association. This study was aimed at investigating the prevalence of Diabetes mellitus II and impaired fasting glycaemia in patients diagnosed with pulmonary TB at the Bamenda Regional Hospital .An experimental and prospective design, involving 91 patients diagnosed of pulmonary TB and 68 sputum negative patients were used as control. Venous blood was collected from each participant and was analyzed using the CHRONO LAB system chemistry analyzer to screen for impaired fasting glycaemia and Diabetes mellitus. Information to assess the knowledge and perception of both TB and DM of the participants was gotten through questionnaires. This study revealed that the total prevalence of diabetes mellitus was 29.7% while that of IFG was 16.5% amongst TB patients receiving care at the Bamenda Regional hospital compared to the 26.6% DM and 2.9% IFG for the control group. In total, 42(46.2%) of the test population were hyperglycemic (IFG/DM) compared to 16(23.5%) of the control group and this difference was statistically significant (p<0.05)  More males (28%) in this study were hyperglycemic than females ( 21%) but the difference was statistically not sgnificant,   26% of alcohol consumers were more hyperglycemic than non alcohol consumers and the difference was statistically significant ( p< 0.05). The age range of 31 – 40 years had the highest prevalence level ( 9%) of  DM  and 7% of IFG and those below 20 years had the lowest glycemic levels. Findings from this study revealed that TB patients had a higher prevalence of DM and IFG compared to the control population (sputum negative patients).The screening of diabetes in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis is recommended for successful treatment, control and patient care of the two diseases
