Investigating the Effect of Varying Tubing Air Concentration during the Descaling of Petroleum Production Tubing using Multiple High-Pressure Nozzles
Despite the continued research effort on erosion behaviour of multiple flat fan nozzles in removing different types of scale deposits from petroleum production tubing, effect of chamber air concentration and nozzles configuration is yet to be given detail consideration. This study, therefore, considers the utilization of multiple high-pressure sprays at different chamber air concentration to enhance the rate of scale removal from petroleum production tubing. Additionally, options of altering chamber air/water ratio and header configurations for more effective scale removal were explored. So also, the relationship of nozzle header arrangement towards the removal of paraffin of different stages of deposition in petroleum production tubing have been studied. Consequently, theselection of chamber air concentration and header configuration (nozzles arrangement) for effective scale removal was found to be governed by the shape and type of the scale deposit. More so, the descaling capacity increases with decrease in number of nozzlesdue to pressure drop effect irrespective of the type or shape of the scale deposit. This novel descaling experiment of utilising 10 MPa injection pressure from 25 mm jetting position averagely removes hollow paraffin deposits that ranges from 44 to 280 g and 34 to 89g of solid shaped paraffin as a result of altering nozzles configuration. Correspondingly, an average removal difference ranging from 48 to 270 g of hollow shaped and 35 to 218 g of solid shaped paraffin depositwas recorded as a result of compressing the chamber pressure by 0.2 MPa and subsequently suctioning it by -0.008 MPa respectively
Educational Public Policies on English Language Teaching in Brazil Based on Neuroscience and Psychology of Human Development
The present study aims to reflect on the teaching of the English language in the initial grades of public and private network schools, it is considered that the offerings in public schools occur from the second phase of Elementary School, while in private school begins in Early Childhood Education. Through the qualitative method, it is sought to emphasize the relevance of the English Language and to point out the importance of insertion of this Language still in early childhood, to contribute to the fight against educational inequality in Brazil. It highlights in this bibliographic study questions pertinent to neuroscience as well as learning. The theoretical and methodological basis used in the research is based on theories of scholars such as Guyton and Hall, Watson, Skinner, Battro, Wallon and Vygotsky. The results showed that the early childhood learning process is flawed due to the moment the English Language is offered in public schools and the first step towards the reversion of this panorama may be through reflection with the attempt to change the current scenario
Formulation and Comparative in-vitro Evaluation of Mucoadhesive Buccal Tablets of Furosemide
This study was conducted to develop mucoadhesive buccal tablet of Frusemide. A Mucoadhesive buccal tablet of Frusemide were prepared by using wet granulation method using dfferent polymer such as HPMC k 100, Carbopol-940 in different ratio. Tablets were analysed by measuring different parameters thickness, hardness weight uniformity, drug content uniformity, LOD, sweeling index, invitro dissolution study and solubility. The tablets were evaluated for in vitro release in pH 6.8-phosphate buffer for 12 hr in standard dissolution apparatus. Mucoadhesion strength was increased with increase in the concentration of carbopol. In order to determine the mode of release, the data was subjected to Zero order, first order, Higuchi and Peppas diffusion model
An Exploratory Study of Gardening Practices and Ornamental Plants in Khartoum State, Sudan
In Sudan, as in many parts of the world, ornamental plants are gaining a growing interest. This study aimed to shed light on gardening (horticulture) and ornamental plants in Khartoum State, Sudan by focusing on gardening practices, verifying people\u27s awareness of the environmental role of these plants, and studying species diversity within major ornamental groups namely; cacti and ornamental palms. Data were collected through structured questionnaires with both gardeners and the general public. The results showed that gardening practices as well as interest in ornamental plants have grown rapidly in recent decades and that most of the gardeners belong to young adults (21-40) with a sex ratio of 1: 1. Aesthetic values ??and combating desertification have been reported as the most important roles of ornamental plants. The remarkable diversity of ornamental plants in cacti and royal palms is attributed to the adaptive ability of their species to grow in the hot and dry environment of the study area, the simplicity of their reproduction and their profitable sales
GeoXBRL: Integration Standard between Geographical and Business Data
Context: The usage of geographic data and geovisualization in financial auditing and analytics is increasing among auditors and accountants. Business information systems can process and analyze data through geographic approaches (e.g. financial insight on a virtual geographic map). Although many business information systems have been developed considering geographic data as one of data sources, there is no a standard for modeling both kind of data together (i.e. business and geographical). Conversely, it is also known that Geographic Markup Language (GML) and eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) are W3C technologies worldwide used for representing geographic and business data, respectively. Given this absence of standardization to represent geospatial data within business taxonomies, this paper proposes the GeoXBRL to fill this gap. This paper specifies an integration between geographic and business/financial data. For this, W3C technologies such as XLink, XML schema, GML and XBRL have been used to make the data structure of this integration. As an assessment, a XML-based representation and a Java-based web application have been developed on a real-world business taxonomy (available on US-SEC website). A comparison is shown between previous business data scenario and the new one proposed in this paper. Finally, this proposal allows to explain how to use the GeoXBRL. Some comparisons with current tools and technologies are shown in order to illustrate the GeoXBRL features and contributions
Antibacterial Activity and Phytochemical Properties of Selected Medicinal Plants Against Salmonella Typhi, Salmonella Paratyphi A, B and C, Clinical Isolates in Lafia, Nigeria
The aim of the research was to investigate the antibacterial activities and the phytochemical properties of aqueous and ethanolic extracts of Mango (Mangifera indica) and Neem (Azadirachta indica) leaves, on clinical isolates of Salmonella typhi, Salmonella paratyphi A, B and C, in Lafia, Nigeria. The agar well diffusion technique was used and the analyses were done in triplicates. Salmonella typhi, showed inhibition zone of 29.4±0.1mm, at the highest aqueous extract concentration of 80 mg/ml, while Salmonella paratyphi A, B and C, exhibited inhibition zones of 14.4±0.2 mm, 21.2±0.4 mm and 13.4±0.1 mm respectively. At the highest ethanolic extract concentration of 80 mg/ml, Salmonella typhi, showed inhibition zone of 30.0±0.01mm, while Salmonella paratyphi A, B and C, exhibited inhibition zones of 18.0±0.03mm, 20.0±0.04mm and 21.0±0.04mm respectively. At aqueous lower extract concentration of 10mg/ml, Salmonella typhi, exhibited inhibition zone of 8.4±0.01mm, while Salmonella paratyphi A, B and C, showed inhibition zones of 9.5±0.01mm, 9.1±0.01mm and 6.2±0.01mm respectively as exhibited in the Neem leaf extract. Ethanolic extract at 10 mg/ml, Salmonella typhi, showed inhibition zone of 9.0±0.1mm, while Salmonella paratyphi A, B and C, exhibited inhibition zones of 9.0±0.01mm, 9.0±0.01mm and 9.0±0.01mm respectively of Neem leaf extract. The MIC and MBC, of aqueous and ethanolic extracts against organisms were 2.5 and 5.0 mg/ml, respectively. The qualitative phytochemical results showed the presence of alkaloids, anthraquinones, carbohydrates, cardiac glycosides, flavonoids, tannins, terpenoids and saponins. Conclusively, the aqueous and ethanolic extracts of studied medicinal plant exhibited bactericidal activities against all tested organisms, and this supports the claim by traditional medical practitioners and vendors of the use of the plants for the cure of typhoid fever. Further studies are recommended on the toxicity and safe dosage regimen of the plants since the infusion of the plant is taken orally by people for the cure of typhoid fever
An Empirical Mode Decomposition Approach for Multiple Broken Rotor Bars Detection in Three-Phase Induction Motors at No-Load Condition
This paper presents an empirical mode decomposition (EMD) approach for multiple broken rotor bars detection in squirrel cage induction motors running at no-load condition, using the resultant magnetic flux density measured by a Hall Effect sensor installed between two stator slots of the electrical machine. Usually, the traditional motor current signature analysis (MCSA) has produced many cases of false indications related to, among other reasons, incorrect speed estimation, operation at low load (low slip) and nonadjacent broken bars. This study has investigated the application of the EMD technique in the signal collected from the Hall sensor, in order to detect broken rotor bars for an induction motor running at very low slip and subjected to adjacent and nonadjacent broken bars. The present approach has been validated from some experiments carried out by a 7.5 kW induction motor fed by a sinusoidal power supply in the laboratory
Harmonic Distortion Reduction using Seven level H-Bridge VSI Topology based Dynamic Voltage Restorer
This paper demos the model, the control and simulation of H-Bridge VSI topology based Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR). The structure and the operating principle of the Cascaded H-Bridge Seven level Inverter is realized. The phase shifted SPWM was adapted to reduce the lower order harmonics of the output voltage. The controller was based on the dqo transformation. The performance of the proposed method was ascertained in PSCAD. The simulation results are appraised and discussed. The controller was able to manage the zero-sequence voltage during unbalance fault period. The phase shift SPWM was incorporated with low frequency and subsequently, the switching loss was low. The Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) with the designed DVR was significantly was low in comparison to other traditional models and was within the IEEE Standards 519-2014. The envisioned controller algorithm provides excellent voltage improvements
Importance of Massularia accuminata (Myrtaceae), Piptadiniastrum africanum (Fabaceae), and Costus afer (Zingiberaceae), Three Plants of the Cameroonian Traditional Medicine Used in the Treatment of Sinusitis by the Village Populations of Bomb-Lissomb and
Costus afer, Massularia acuminate and Piptadeniastrum africanum are three plants used in Cameroonian traditional medicine to treat sinusitis. The aim of this study is to justify the interest granted to this three species in the treatment of this disease and to promote their sustainable management. The study was carried out at Bomb-Lissomb and at the goat market. Several types of data were collected: data on the use of these plants in traditional anti-sinus medicine, data on their varied other uses by local residents, data on the availability of these plants as well as data on the interest that these species could generate. Furthermore, the evolution of treatment in patients who received plant extracts was followed after two months to justify their efficiency against sinusitis. The technique used for the removal of organs from the plant\u27s vegetative growth was described. Finally, phytochemical screening of extracts obtained after aqueous maceration of plant organs was performed. Amongst the informants who took part to this study, 17 mentioned barks of Piptadeniastrum africanum and 29 mentioned fruits of Massularia acuminata to treat sinusitis. Treatments administered to patients are made either from monospecific recipes or from a mixture of two or three plants. The average duration of treatment is 29 days when patients are only treated with fruits of Massularia acuminata and 12 days when they are subjected to treatments based on a recipe made from stem barks of Piptadeniastrum africanum and fruits of Massularia acuminate. Treatment seems to be effective from the 2nd time the medication is taken. Harvesting techniques allowing large quantities of organs to be removed from a few individuals affects the regeneration of these individuals. Stems barks and leaves of Massularia acuminata contain almost the same bioactive compounds as fruits
Thyroid Dysfunction in Patients with Metabolic Syndrome in Sudan
Metabolic syndrome defined by the presence of hyperglycemia, insulin resistance, obesity, hypertension and dyslipidemias.
This study is about thyroid dysfunction in Sudanese patients with metabolic syndrome. The study was conducted in two specialized centers in Khartoum, the first one is Jabir Abu Eliz Specialized Diabetes Centre and Quasbaa specialized Diabetes and Endocrine center, in the period from September to December 2019. The importance of such study is that both condition carry increased cardiovascular risks.
The aim of this study is to determine the prevalence of thyroid dysfunction among patients with metabolic syndrome in Sudanese patients. It also aims at evaluation of metabolic syndrome components in relation to thyroid status. The patients with metabolic syndrome were randomly selected during their regular visits to the mentioned centers. The diagnosis of metabolic syndrome (MetS) depended on the IDF worldwide used criteria. Thyroid function tests were done in all patients. Patients’ history, clinical exam including BP, WC, BMI, record of FBS, HbA1c, were all recorded. Obtained data were then analyzed using SPSS software Version 16. Thyroid dysfunction (TD) is a prevalent disorder detected in 38% of Sudanese patients with metabolic syndrome (MetS ). Female are more frequently affected (68%) by metabolic syndrome and thyroid dysfunction than men. High TSH level is associated with increased BMI in euthyroid patients. TD is common in patients with metabolic syndrome. Females are by far more common to develop metabolic syndrome and thyroid dysfunction. Screening tests in such patients should be considered for early detection and management to ameliorate cardiovascular risk
