    Get PDF
Air sand erosion is a widely effecting phenomenon in GCC region, where a solid particle impacting on a wall surface causing catastrophic mechanical damage, the engine compressor operating in a particulate environment are subjected to deterioration of performance and life due to sand ingestion. In current paper we simulate and studied the sand erosion in such transonic compressors were flow rate, particle size and concentration were investigated to study particles distribution and erosion rate along the compressor blade. Result shows that particles concentration has the most significant effect on blade erosion rate where particles size has less effect among all other measured parameters. Surface deformation and roughness is in scope for further investigation

With the growth of acai planted areas, further studies on herbicides are needed in this palm tree of great potential. Thus, the present work aimed to evaluate the selectivity of the 2,4-D herbicide applied in pre-emergence, isolated, and in association, with acai seedlings. The experimental design was randomized blocks with 4 replications. Increasing doses of 2,4-D isolated (502.5, 1,005 and 2,010 g e a ha) and associated with picloram (960 g e. a ha), triclopyr (960 g e. a ha) were applied as treatments. and glyphosate (1,110 g e. a ha), one more control without application. At 3,7,14,21,28 and 35 DAA, the percentage of phytointoxication, height (cm), and the number of leaves of the acai seedlings were determined. At the end of the evaluations (35 DAA), the 2,4-D isolated applications obtained the best results, with low phytointoxication visual percentage, higher plants, and a larger number of leaves, showing selective culture. However, the association of the 2,4-D herbicides with picloram, in all doses used, had negative effects on the evaluated parameters, evidencing the non-selectivity of the acai berry crop

    Get PDF
Cheques are used to transfer money from one party to another, has the potential to capture a massive amount of financial value but on the other hand is a piece of paper which can be tarnished and torn into pieces and is fragile. The main objective is to create a E-Cheque application, where the mentioned issues will be eradicated by simply digitizing the cheque. Using an E-Cheque would raise a handful of security questions but utilizing the help of four security technologies these problems are minimized. The approach for dynamic password generation is to generate a password which would be resistant to a selected cyber security attack and would be a key-helping hand to remember the password. Secondly, with the use of OTP together with Voice Biometrics, where an OTP would be used as the first level of security and voice biometrics as the second level to increase security. To cover the compliance point of view, a comprehensive compliance policy is created hence applied to the application. Finally, QR Code generation which is generated with a E-cheque details received from user, then encrypted to generate the QR code and transferred through a chat socket where digital signature will be mandatory to transfer the QR based E-cheque, and therefore when all components are paired together creating a world security standard E-Cheque application. &nbsp

    Get PDF
In the telecommunication sector, particularly in the cellular phone service area, customer expenditures have been in the areas of voice, short messages, and internet usage, leading to a pattern of more or less regular monthly bills. Recently, telecommunication companies started to associate retail stores to their billed commercial activities, resulting in unusual variations in the monthly payment sequences of their customers. In the present work we propose a method for detecting retail expenditure in monthly bills. We then code the information of the discretized version into a binary hierarchical tree and we classify them as positive or negative with respect to complaint potential

Could Craving for Certain Kind of Foods be a Predictor of HbA1c Level in Diabetes Type 2 Patients?

    Get PDF
For diabetes mellitus type 2 patients and prediabetes patients healthy food choices is one of the most important factor to maintain recommended metabolic outcomes but this also requires strong willingness to change. As food cravings are common for the majority of healthy adults, rigid dietary control and the deprivation from some foods that are not allowed, can trigger the craving for some categories of foods in diabetic patients. In this study, diabetes type 2 patients and prediabetes patients were asked to share their current HbA1c levels and to self-report their daily experiences with food cravings. The aim of the study was to investigate if cravings for a certain kind of foods is strongly related to higher HbA1c levels in diabetic patients. Methods: Due to the pandemic situation, the study used online-based surveys on diabetes type 2 and prediabetes patients living in West Romania. The questionnaire was distributed through public social media groups with diabetic health condition specific. The collected data were analyzed using inferential and descriptive statistics. Conclusion: The most selected categories of food cravings by all respondents were white bread and sweets. Although men and women tend to crave different kinds of foods, results does not differ significantly between the genders. Personal preferences and cultural determined eating habits seems to influence the food choices and the craving for a certain kind of food. The deprivation from white bread, a Romanian dietary staple showed an increase in cravings for the deprived food. Craving for pastries, alcohol and refined sugar sweets was associated with the highest HbA1c levels in the sample. The study results may help diabetic patients increase the awareness about their medical condition and improve self-management and self-care habits in order to obtain a better blood sugar monitoring and prevent diabetes associated complications

The treatment of total edentulousness is based on the knowledge of the morphological elements of the prosthetic field, their biological structure and their quality. The fully edentulous prosthetic field comprises all the anatomical elements that are in contact with the complete denture and contribute to its maintain, support and stability. A systematic review was conducted based on articles from the literature. These were obtained using the PubMed and PubMed Central electronic databases. Data collection for the systematic review was based on the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items) criteria for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyzes. From the total number of 26 articles included in the systematic review, 73%  refer to the treatment with acrylic prosthesis for patients with various malignancies. A percentage of 12% approach the prosthetic treatment for patients with ectodermal dysplasia. These patients suffer from anodontics or oligodontics. Five percente presented severe prothetic field atrophy, 3% had cleft lip and palate and 3% presented general patologies that indicate prosthetic rehabilitation with complete/ partial acrylic denture. Prosthetic treatment with acrylic prostheses was possible, no matter how were the conditions of the prosthetic field or the general pathology of the patient. The majority of patients treated with acrylic prostheses have undergone jaw surgery. Prosthetic treatment with obturator prosthesis is suitable for these cases

United States Versus Microsoft Corp.; Should U.S. Online Privacy Statutes Apply Abroad?

    Get PDF
Although the case of United States v. Microsoft Corp. deals with the issue of Whether a U.S corporation that chose to store its data abroad has to comply with U.S. warrant issued based on probable cause to render its data that is fall within U.S corporation’s control, United States v. Microsoft Corp. deals more broadly with the issue that should U.S online privacy statutes apply abroad or not. Neverthless, congress only has the power to enact statutes that could be applied abroad. However, U.S. privacy online statutes should not be interpreted by courts to apply abroad because that will violate the presumption against extraterritorial and create a contradiction between authorities. Therefore, the final rule in this case must be in favor of Microsoft

An Evaluation of the Fusion of Relative Positioning Sensors in the Accuracy of Land Mobile Robot´s Localization Systems

    Get PDF
The precise location of a robot is a fundamental challenge and one of the most important tasks for robot´s navigation systems. For autonomous navigation, the robot must be aware of its pose and the map of the environment so that it can set the path it must follow to perform a task. Most terrestrial robots use an odometry system based on the movement of the wheels to keep track of their location. Wheel odometry has high sensitivity to the kind of pavement, which leads to an inaccuracy that increases over time. One way to improve the robot\u27s positioning accuracy is by merging all kinds of sensors capable of measuring the robot\u27s displacement and speed. The most used sensors to improve knowledge of the robot\u27s position on low-cost robotic platforms are cameras and inertial sensors.  This work analyzes the accuracy of the positioning systems based on the odometry obtained from the wheels, inertial sensors, and visual odometry. To analyze the precision of the robot\u27s movement, the real trajectories of a two-wheeled robot are compared with the expected trajectory (ground truth) using different combinations of the mentioned sensors. The results of the experiment provide a good indication of the cost-benefit of using these types of sensors to perform the odometry of robotic platforms
