Immunomodulatory Effects Associated with Lactofermented Cherry Beverage Consumption in Rats
No full textCherry is a fruit which contains elevated amounts of antioxidant compounds, such as anthocyanins, pigments, and vitamins. Furthermore, it possesses high water, sugar, mineral, and indolamine contents. The general objective of this study was to characterise a cherry-based fermented beverage (the ‘sweetheart’ variety) and analyse the effects of its ingestion on (i) circulating serum levels of melatonin and serotonin, (ii) inflammatory response, and iii) serum total antioxidant capacity in rats (Rattus norvegicus). For cherry-based fermented beverage manufacturing, the cherries were washed, the stems and woody endocarps were removed, and ascorbic acid was added (to avoid enzymatic browning). After the homogenisation of the cherry fruit, lactic acid bacteria were inoculated, and the fermentation process was conducted for 36 h. The main bioactive compounds in the cherry beverage were characterised, as well as their total antioxidant capacity. Moreover, an in vivo assay was developed, in which rats ingested the fermented beverage ad libitum for seven days.
The inflammatory mediators, the total antioxidant capacity, and the serum levels of melatonin and serotonin were measured. Based on these results, the intake of the cherry-based fermented beverage assayed in this study increased the total antioxidant status of rats, elevated the melatonin and serotonin levels in the serum, and improved the regulation of the inflammatory systemic processes.This work was financed by the Junta de Extremadura and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) (GR15141). The key role of market orientation in innovation ambidexterity in agribusiness firms

This work was supported by [Junta de Extremadura (Spain) and European Regional Development Fund] under Grant [IB18040]; and [Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia] under Grant [UIDB/00315/2020].The objective of this study is to examine the relationships between market orientation, organizational culture, proactive management, organizational climate, and organizational structure on the innovative orientation (exploitative and exploratory innovation). Little research has been conducted to examine the relationship between these organizational dimensions and innovation orientation. This study offers this and provides a particular type of companies (agribusiness) and context (Extremadura, Spain). Quantitative approach, by using structural modelling equations, to analyze data from 151 innovative agri-food firms was used in this study. Then, using a fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA), was carried out to obtain additional insights. The main result find that market orientation plays a key role both in exploitative and exploratory innovation in agribusiness firms. Innovation exploitation is influenced by the firm’s organic structure. Results from fsQCA provide valuable findings showing that innovation exploitation and exploration result from distinct organizational configurations, thus providing valuable insights for decision and policy-making.peerReviewe
Regulation juridica de la limitaction de la patria potestad desde la perspectiva nacional e internacional
No full textEl artículo analiza los aspectos de la regulación jurídica de la limitación de la patria potestad, el concepto de limitación de la patria potestad, el contenido de la patria potestad, los principales derechos del menor en la aplicación de la limitación de la patria potestad, y trata de revelar los principales problemas que afectan a la aplicación de la limitación de la patria potestad. El artículo llama la atención sobre las diferentes formas de limitación de la patria potestad. El artículo concluye que la restricción de la patria potestad no es completa a la hora de garantizar los derechos e intereses legítimos del menor.The article analyses the aspects of the legal regulation of the restriction of parental authority, the concept of the restriction of parental authority, the content of parental authority, the main rights of the child in the application of the restriction of parental authority, and seeks to reveal the main problems that affect the application of the restriction of parental authority. The article draws attention to the different forms of limitation of parental authority. The article concludes that the restriction of parental authority is not compprehensive in ensuring the raights and legitimate interests of the child.peerReviewe
Project NaNai: Design and implementation of artistic-educational materials for the emotional health and mental well-being of students in Fine Arts
No full textEl Proyecto Nanai surge como respuesta a la necesidad de promover un entorno de apoyo y bienestar emocional en el ámbito universitario, especialmente en el contexto de Bellas Artes. Reconociendo la sensibilidad y creatividad inherentes a los estudiantes de esta disciplina, se busca abordar los desafíos de salud mental surgidos durante y después de la pandemia. Nanai, se inspira en la dualidad de su significado: en el diccionario chileno, denota ternura, mientras que, en español, se asocia con la negación. A través del diseño de materiales artístico-educativos y talleres tanto en línea como presenciales, se fomenta el autocuidado y la salud mental mediante el arte como herramienta terapéutica y de experiencia de usuario. El objetivo es promover el bienestar emocional en el ámbito universitario de Bellas Artes mediante el empleo del arte como herramienta terapéutica, apoyado por investigaciones previas y una evaluación continua de su impacto en el aula. La evaluación de los materiales y dinámicas se realiza a través de una investigación cualitativa y exploratoria, utilizando herramientas como diarios de campo, documentación fotográfica, observación participante y cuestionarios. En conclusión, a parte de la muestra de materiales implementados es limitada, se observa que han contribuido a mejorar el ambiente en el aula y fortalecer la comunicación y el bienestar del alumnado participante.The Nanai Project arises in response to the need to promote a supportive environment and emotional well-being in the university setting, especially in the context of Fine Arts. Recognizing the sensitivity and creativity inherent in students of this discipline, it seeks to address the mental health challenges that have arisen during and after the pandemic. Nanai draws inspiration from the duality of its meaning: in the Chilean dictionary, it denotes tenderness, while in Spanish, it is associated with denial. Through the design of artistic-educational materials and workshops both online and in person, self-care and mental health are encouraged through art as a therapeutic tool and user experience. The goal is to promote emotional well-being in the university setting of Fine Arts through the use of art as a therapeutic tool, supported by previous research and ongoing evaluation of its impact in the classroom. The evaluation of materials and dynamics is conducted through qualitative and exploratory research, using tools such as field journals, photographic documentation, participant observation, and questionnaires. In conclusion, although the sample of implemented materials is limited, it is observed that they have contributed to improving the classroom environment and strengthening communication and the well-being of participating students.peerReviewe

No full textSe ha venido afirmando que la Historia general de España de Mariana se inscribe plena-mente en la línea de los grandes autores medievales —Lucas de Tuy, Rodrigo Jiménez de Toledo y Alfonso X—. Me propongo mostrar en qué medida la técnica empleada por Mariana en su Historia presenta propiedades que lo singularizan no sólo con respecto a sus ilustres predecesores sino también dentro del panorama historiográfico de su tiempo. Con este fin me apoyo en la versión que nos ofrece de la Laus Hispaniæ isidoriana, en el tratamiento de lo maravilloso —milagros y prodigios— especialmente en torno al apóstol Santiago y a Isidoro de Sevilla en la recreación de otras figuras míticas tales como el Cid Campeador.It has been stated that Mariana's General History of Spain is fully in line with the great medieval authors —Lucas de Tuy, Rodrigo Jiménez de Toledo and Alfonso X—. I propose to show to what extent the technique used by Mariana in her History presents properties that make it unique not only with respect to his illustrious predecessors but also within the historiographic panorama of her time. No full textIntroducción: Partiendo de la lectura del libro Une femme (2007) de Annie Ernaux, se propone
al alumnado de Estudios Franceses un estudio comparativo de la mujer de mediados del siglo
XX frente a la de finales del XX, y primeras décadas del XXI, respectivamente. Métodos:
Saldremos del aula y entraremos en sinergia presencial con la sociedad, previo estudio del
funcionamiento de esta con Une femme como guía. Resultados: En primer lugar, se analizan
las sociedades francesas de los períodos. Después, se presentan los diferentes marcos de
anclaje de los que dispone la mujer de cada uno de los periodos. Asimismo, se concreta en el
paso de las dos protagonistas por esos tres periodos. Finalmente, se buscan referentes del
alumnado en la sociedad real, que se correspondan con esos tres marcos sociales que generan
los dos marcos de mujer que se presentan en la obra, junto con el tercero, representado por la
propia autora en su trayectoria vital. Discusión y conclusiones: El estudio contribuye a
repensar tanto los modelos de sociedad y de mujer presentados en la obra, merced a las dos
protagonistas principales, como a trasladar esa reflexión al momento social y educativo
contemporáneo del alumnado.Introduction: Based on the reading of the book Une femme (2007) by Annie Ernaux, French
Studies students are proposed a comparative study of women from the mid-20th century
versus those from the late 20th and early 21st centuries, respectively. Methods: We will step
out of the classroom and engage directly with society, after studying its functioning with Une
femme as a guide. Results: First, the French societies of these periods are analyzed. Then, the
different frameworks available to women in each period are presented. Additionally, the
passage of the two protagonists through these three periods is examined. Finally, students are
encouraged to identify contemporary figures in real society that correspond to these three
social frameworks, which generate the two representations of women presented in the book,
along with the third one, represented by the author herself in her life journey. Discussion and
Conclusions: The study contributes to rethinking both the societal and female models
presented in the book, through the two main protagonists, and to bringing this reflection into
the students' contemporary social and educational context.peerReviewe

The marking of silver in Castille and Aragón. Second part: Aragón
No full textDespués de haber presentado el marcaje de la plata en Castilla y en algunos centros europeos, estudiamos, en esta segunda parte, el peculiar marcaje de la plata del Reino de Aragón, que no tiene relación con el existente en Castilla, en Francia o Países Bajos. En Zaragoza el marcaje estuvo supervisado por jurados elegidos por el Ayuntamiento entre sus miembros, aunque contaron con la ayuda técnica de plateros. El resultado fue que se marcó la plata con un punzón alusivo a la ciudad. No fue necesario que los plateros marcaran la plata con su marca personal. El sistema de marcaje de la ciudad de Zaragoza se empleó también en otras importantes ciudades del reino como Tarazona, Calatayud o Daroca, aunque algunos plateros añadieron su marca personal por influjo del marcaje de Castilla. Sin embargo, a lo largo del siglo XVIII, y especialmente a partir del decreto real de 1752 sobre el marcaje de la plata, se fue generalizando el triple marcaje castellano por las ciudades de la Corona de Aragón.After having presented the marking of silver in Castile and in some European cen-tres, we study, in this second part, the peculiar silver marking in the Kingdom of Aragon, which is not related to that existing in Castile, France or the Netherlands. In Saragossa, the silver marking was supervised by jurors elected by the City Council from among its members, although they had the technical help of silversmiths. The result was that the silver was marked with a mark alluding to the city. It was not necessary for silversmiths to mark silver with their personal mark. The marking system of the city of Zaragoza/Saragossa was also used in other important cities of the Kingdom such as Tarazona, Calatayud or Daroca, although some silversmiths added their personal mark due to the influence of the marking of Castile. However, throughout the 18th century, and especially after the decree of 1752 on the marking of silver, the triple Castilian marking was generalized in the cities of the Crown of Aragon

Optimización metaheurística de estructuras de ingeniería civil. Una formulación dual de restricciones en el paradigma multiobjetivo
No full textEsta tesis doctoral explora la aplicación de técnicas metaheurísticas para la optimización de estructuras de ingeniería civil, transformando problemas tradicionalmente abordados como monoobjetivo en problemas multiobjetivo. Esta transformación se logra mediante una formulación dual de las restricciones del problema original, lo que permite emplear un abanico más amplio de algoritmos y obtener un conocimiento más profundo del espacio de soluciones. Esto, a su vez, capacita al ingeniero para tomar decisiones de diseño más fundamentadas. La investigación aplica este método de formulación dual a dos problemas específicos de optimización estructural: muros de contención en ménsula y puentes losa postensados. Se investiga el uso de varias metaheurísticas multiobjetivo, incluyendo NSGA-II, NSGA-III, CMA-ES, GDE3, MOEA/D, varepsilon-MOEA, OMOPSO y SMPSO, para encontrar soluciones óptimas considerando múltiples objetivos en conflicto, como el costo, los factores de seguridad y el rendimiento estructural. La formulación dual permite convertir algunas restricciones en objetivos, ampliando así la exploración del espacio de soluciones. Se enfatiza la caracterización de los conjuntos de soluciones mediante análisis estadísticos y estudios de correlación para comprender mejor el espacio de diseño óptimo. El análisis de sensibilidad, utilizando el método de Sobol, evalúa el impacto de las variables de diseño en los objetivos, lo que ayuda a reducir la dimensionalidad e identificar parámetros críticos. Se comparan diferentes metaheurísticas en términos de velocidad de convergencia, costo computacional y calidad de la solución. La investigación concluye que las metaheurísticas multiobjetivo ofrecen un enfoque versátil y eficiente para la optimización estructural, y destaca la importancia de haber encontrado en las "reglas de buena práctica" que se aplican habitualmente la ingeniería una excelente aproximación a las soluciones óptimas encontradas. Las futuras líneas de investigación incluyen la aplicación de la metodología a otros problemas estructurales, su integración en un marco más amplio de optimización de procesos de ingeniería y una exploración más profunda de la calibración y comprensión de las metaheurísticasThis doctoral thesis explores the application of metaheuristic techniques to optimize civil engineering structures, transforming problems traditionally addressed as singleobjective into multi-objective problems. This transformation is achieved through a dual formulation of the original problem’s constraints, allowing for the use of a wider range of algorithms and a deeper understanding of the solution space. This, in turn, empowers engineers to make more informed design decisions. The research applies this dual formulation method to two specific structural optimization problems: cantilever retaining walls and post-tensioned slab bridges. It investigates the use of various multi-objective metaheuristics, including NSGA-II, NSGA-III, CMA-ES, GDE3, MOEA/D, varepsilon-MOEA, OMOPSO, and SMPSO, to find optimal solutions considering multiple conflicting objectives such as cost, safety factors, and structural performance. The dual formulation allows some constraints to be converted into objectives, thus expanding the exploration of the solution space. The characterization of solution sets through statistical analysis and correlation studies is emphasized to gain a better understanding of the optimal design space. Sensitivity analysis, using the Sobol method, evaluates the impact of design variables on objectives, aiding in dimensionality reduction and identifying critical parameters. Different metaheuristics are compared in terms of convergence speed, computational cost, and solution quality. The research concludes that multi-objective metaheuristics offer a versatile and efficient approach to structural optimization and highlights the importance of having found that engineering "rules of thumb" approaches the optimal solutions in a quite accurate way. Future research directions include applying the methodology to other structural problems, integrating it into a broader engineering process optimization framework, and further exploring the calibration and understanding of metaheuristics

Matilde Sánchez Gutiérrez (dirs.), para esta edición.Tras la publicación el año 2022 de estas Lecciones y su utilización durante dos cursos académicos con los alumnos de la Facultad de Derecho, se presenta esta segunda edición revisando y actualizando la primera con el objetivo principal de incorporar las modificaciones normativas que se han producido en este periodo.
Estas Lecciones sobre los medios materiales y personales de la Administración y sobre el orden público se enmarcan y vienen a dar continuidad a la línea de trabajo iniciado en 2018 con la publicación de las Lecciones de Derecho Público autonómico, estatal y europeo (Tecnos), y que tiene como finalidad última disponer de unos materiales que sirvan de guía para ayudar a los alumnos a comprender y aprender los fundamentos del Derecho Administrativo actual. En esta dirección, publicamos en 2020 las Lecciones sobre el acto y sobre el procedimiento administrativo (Servicio de Publicaciones UEX), trabajo al que ahora se suma esta obra y que ha sido diseñada con el mismo espíritu. Con este volumen, se trata de disponer de unos esquemas que, de manera estructurada y sistemática, contengan los elementos sustanciales de la regulación del patrimonio de las Administraciones Públicas y del empleo público, del orden público, del Derecho de crisis y de la protección civil, para que los alumnos puedan entender de manera ordenada y fácil lo más esencial de estas materias.After the publication in 2022 of these Lessons and their use during two academic years with the students of the Faculty of Law, this second edition is presented, reviewing and updating the first with the main objective of incorporating the regulatory modifications that have occurred in this period.
These Lessons on the material and personal means of the Administration and on public order are framed and provide continuity to the line of work begun in 2018 with the publication of the Lessons on Autonomous, State and European Public Law (Tecnos), and whose ultimate purpose is to have materials that serve as a guide to help students understand and learn the fundamentals of current Administrative Law. In this direction, in 2020 we published the Lessons on the act and on the administrative procedure (UEX Publications Service), a work to which this work is now added and which has been designed with the same spirit. With this volume, the aim is to have schemes that, in a structured and systematic manner, contain the substantial elements of the regulation of the assets of Public Administrations and public employment, public order, crisis law and civil protection, so that students can understand the most essential aspects of these subjects in an orderly and easy way.peerReviewe
