The concept of neuromuscular repatterning in dancers: a systematic review

    No full text
Repatterning is a term that can be used in different fields, including genetics, molecular biology, neurology, psychology, or rehabilitation. Our aim is to identify the key concept of neuromuscular repatterning in somatic training programmes for dancers. A systematic search of eight databases was conducted using the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis) guidelines. The Quality Assessment Tool for Quantitative Studies and the Oxford Levels of Evidence scales were used. The search yielded 1218 results, of which 5 met the inclusion criteria. Five studies (n = 5) were related to psychosomatic health (n = 5), two studies highlighted integration and interarticular connectivity in movement (n = 2), four studies investigated the neurological component of alignment and efficiency in dance practice (n = 4), and two studies investigated self-confidence (n = 2). Five studies (n = 5) used imagery based on the anatomical and physiological experience of body systems as the main analytical method. Four studies (n = 4) used developmental movement through Bartenieff fundamentals as the main technique for this methodology. Developmental movement and imagery are two methodologies strongly connected to the concept of neuromuscular repatterning in somatic training programmes for dancers. The acquisition of further quantitative experimental or quasi-experimental studies is warranted to better define the level of improvement or impact of neuromuscular repatterning in dancers. This article belongs to the Internal Research Project titled Somatic Practices, Repatterning and Dance—PI/B8/2023 Telethusa Centre.peerReviewe

The primary objective of this Doctoral Thesis is to analyze and evaluate performance indicators in football. To achieve this, three specific objectives were established: Objective 1. To review the scientific literature on the topic to analyze the current state of the field. Objective 2. To analyze the similarities and differences of performance indicators in football. Objective 3. To examine the home advantage with the presence or absence of spectators, leveraging a natural context, the Covid-19 pandemic. Eight scientific studies were conducted to meet the various proposed objectives. In the first study, a comprehensive analysis of the scientific literature on football was conducted, culminating in a systematic review based on the effect of a pandemic. In the following four studies, the influence and evolution of different performance indicators were analyzed with various situational variables, as well as the similarities and differences between performance indicators and match outcomes. In the sixth, seventh, and eighth studies, the evolution of performance indicators and the playing styles adopted by teams were analyzed, considering a natural context, the Covid-19 pandemic. The results underscore that versatility and flexibility will be vital for optimizing performance in times of unprecedented uncertainty. Objective knowledge of performance indicators occurring during competition allows coaches to develop training plans tailored to competitive needs.

Sexting in college students: behaviors and motivations considering couple’s situation

    No full text
In the last decade, sexting has emerged as an increasingly common practice in the expression of sexuality, especially among adolescence and youth. Progressively, this trend has become significantly integrated into people’s social and romantic interactions, regardless of whether they’re in a stable relationship or not, leading to both opportunities and challenges, as well as risks, in terms of privacy, consent and health. The aim of the study was to analyse differences in sexting behaviors and motivations based on couple’s situation. To do this, 200 college students (72% female), aged between 19 and 30 years (M = 21.64, DT = 3.27), completed a battery of online questions about their affective-sexual history and several questionnaires about sexting. Among the results, it’s worth noting that people who had a stable relationship received more sexual content (x² = 6.31; p = .012), sent more (x² = 11.97; p = .001) and received more responses to the content they had sent (x² =9.68; p = .002). Considering the reasons for sexting, statistically significant differences were found in doing it out of boredom (x² = 3.88; p = .049), due to feelings of loneliness (x² = 7.91; p = .005) and not knowing what they were doing because of something they had drunk (x² = 6.62; p = .010), with these motivations being more common among people without stable partner. In conclusion, the results show the high prevalence of this new way of sexual communication and highlight the importance of considering relational status when establishing prevention and/or health promotion programs that address the emerging phenomenon of sexting, particularly to encourage other motivations that promote a healthier sexuality.

    No full text
The present volume gathers nine papers authored by members of the Grupo de Innovación Docente en Estudios of Teaching Innovation in Hispanic Linguistic and Literary Studies (GIDELL) of the University of Extremadura. This is a team with members from the three areas of knowledge that carry the greatest teaching load the greatest teaching load in the Degree in Hispanic Philology: Spanish Language, General Linguistics and Literary Spanish. The objective is to offer teachers and students who may be interested a series of guides and activities described and solved and activities described and solved so that they can be used in a recursive way in order to provide the students with so that the learners have a series of strategies that allow them to be progressively more autonomous when it comes to be progressively more autonomous when solving practical tasks in their studies of Philology and also in their studies of Philology and also in their subsequent professional performance. This manual approaches the studies to which it is addressed based on four basic pillars that make up the students' profile: the correct use of linguistic competence in academic work, the analysis of in academic work, the analysis of grammatical variants, the commentary of literary texts, and the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language. Naturally, it is not intended to the entire field of philological studies with these methodological proposals, but to offer some deliberately varied but rather to offer a few deliberately varied approaches, so that the reader can abstract these strategies and apply them to his or her ow

Initial training of primary school teachers in citizenship education. Case studies in Latin America

    No full text
This article identifies, analyzes and interprets what happens with citizenship education in the initial training of generalist teachers, in university programs in Latin America. The methodological strategy is the documentary analysis of the citizenship education curriculum in three academic programs in Chile, Argentina and Colombia, which train primary school teachers and who agree to participate voluntarily in the study. The results identify that the purposes and objectives of the programs for the initial training of generalist teachers focus on global citizenship. In the study plans, the contents planned for teaching the area are few and focused on theoretical concepts related to national citizenship, which do not favor the development of critical thinking or the political training of teachers, which are essential aspects to train students future teachers and transformative intellectuals (Giroux, 2006). The analysis concludes that general teachers are not being trained to educate primary school boys and girls as critical and democratic citizens. Academic programs have the challenge of proposing problematizing curricula, in which future teachers acquire the professional skills to analyze and understand the complexity and interdisciplinarity of social knowledge and, to guide the area of citizenship in primary education in the construction of democratic culture and social justice.peerReviewe

Deconstructing SE-Constructions: number agreement and postsyntactic variation

    No full text
Most analyses of nonparadigmatic SE sentences derive their agreement patterns structurally, forcing a passive/impersonal distinction against all evidence. Instead, we uniformly analyze them as regular sentences where the T-agreeing subject is se itself, an argumental clitic pronoun, with [person] but no number features, and show that the overt argument, which has object properties, does not genuinely agree in syntax. We reveal a new asymmetry between postverbal and preverbal/null arguments, which conceals two postsyntactic processes with very distinctive properties: morphological Clitic Mutation into number agreement, and T’s Number Harmony with a close DP, not ruled by syntax or morphology.peerReviewe

The processing of personal data for jurisdictional purposes and the exercise of the right to informational self-determination “habeas data”

The exercise of jurisdictional power requires an appropriate balance between the principle of publicity of the process and the protection of the personal data of those involved in the judicial procedure. This paper analyzes the regulatory framework governing the jurisdictional activity in this area and the practical difficulties generated by its scarce regulation with a view to the effective protection of the rights of the interested parties.peerReviewe

Spa therapy and peripheral serotonin and dopamine function: a systematic review

    No full text
Open Access funding provided thanks to the CRUE-CSIC agreement with Springer NatureSpa therapy consists of multiple techniques based on the healing effects of water, including hydrotherapy, balneotherapy, and mud therapy, often combined with therapeutic exercises, massage, or physical therapy. Balneotherapy is a clinically effective complementary approach in the treatment of low-grade inflammation- and stress-related pathologies, especially rheumatic conditions due to its anti-inflammatory properties. The main objective of this investigation was to conduct a systematic review analyzing the available evidence on the effect of spa therapy on serotonin and dopamine function. The databases PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL) were used from June to July 2023. Exclusion criteria were (1) articles not written in English, (2) full text not available, (3) article not related to the objective of the review. JADAD scale was used for methodological quality evaluation. Four studies were included in the systematic review. Two studies were related to serotonin in healthy individuals, one to serotonin in fibromyalgia, and one to dopamine in healthy individuals. One of the studies evaluated hydrotherapy, another one balneotherapy and mud-bath therapy, and the other two assessed balneotherapy interventions. Studies were very heterogeneous, and their methodological quality was low, making it difficult to draw clear conclusions regarding the effect of spa therapy on peripheral serotonin and dopamine function. The findings of this review highlight the lack of studies evaluating these neurotransmitters and hormones in the context of spa therapy. Further research is needed to evaluate the potential effects of these therapies on serotonin or dopamine function. This study was partially supported by the Gobierno de Extremadura-Fondo Europeo de Desarrollo Regional, Spain (GR21079).peerReviewe
