How to Motivate Non-English Majors to Study English
Get PDFP(論文)日本の大学生の多くは、一般教養の外国語科目として英語を履修している。英語が得意な学生ばかりであれば、教材を選ぶ教師は、その選定にあたりあまり苦慮する必要がないかもしれない。しかし、英語が得意でなかったり、英語にさほど関心がない学生を対象に授業をする場合には、教材の選定がことさら大切になってくる。学生の興味にできるだけマッチしたものを選び、その中で接点を求めながら英語力をつけさせる工夫が大切であろう。一般英語のクラスで学生の意見を調べてみると、大多数は「読み・書く」能力よりも、「聞き・話す」力を高めたいと願っている。万事にわたり≪国際化≫が唱えられる今日にあっては、この学生の声は当然のことと首肯できよう。しかし、≪日常会話≫だけを丹念に学習しても、ごく限られた範囲内でしか意思の疎通はできない。「読み・書く」能力を含めた総合的な英語力を向上させながら、「聞き・話す」英語の運用能力を養うことが肝要と思われる。いみじくも山浦昭雄が『やる気にさせる英語指導法』の中で指摘しているように、"リンゴが食べたい学生にニンジンを与える"ことばかりしていては学習意欲を無くさせてしまう。しかし、全体の栄養のバランスを考えると、ときには相手が厭がっても、"ニンジン"を与える必要がある。本稿では、昨年著したJiro Goes to Americaに言及しながら、「意欲を駆り立て、しかも学習効率のよい」教材とは何かについて考察してみたい。授業の内容と関連のある課題の提出の仕方にも、工夫次第によっては学生の興味を喚起しつつ、学習効率を高めることができるものがあるに違いない。この点についても一考した

Especially, more attention has been placed on the size of the bust. Attitudes toward proportion have changed a great deal since olden times. Any proportion, no matter how well it may look, is destined to fall out of fashion. There is a close connection between popularity of body proportion and that of clothing. Underwear plays an important role in making one's body proportion attractive. In the present study, light has been shed on the bust in relation to total body proportion. New Shorter Reading Plan For Great Books of The Western World
Get PDFP(論文)The Great Books of the Western World is a 54 volume set published by the Encyclopaedia Britannica. It comes with a ten year reading plan that includes writings by 74 authors and includes readings from many of the 443 works included in the 54 volumes. Atlthough the ten-year reading plan is broadly inclusive of authors and works, it is far too long and time consuming to be useful as either an introduction to the Great Books or as a review. The writer has therefore developed an abbreviated reading plan that includes all 74 authors and substantial or independent sections from a majority of the works, and yet can be completed by reading 8 pages a day or 250 pages a month for one year. The 13,111 pages have been condensed to 2,989 pages that, despite their shortened length, keep the scope of the original ten-year plan. The Great Books of the Western World are part of the intellectual heritage of the West, and the writer hopes that his New Shorter Reading Plan makes these books more accessible and comprehensible to anyone interested in the thoughts that go into making up Western culture
A Study of Development and Evaluation for Multi-Media Learning Matter "Almaida"
Get PDFP(論文)大分県の地域・歴史学習を支援するマルチメディア教材「アルメイダ-豊後キリシタン街道-」の開発を行い、マルチメディアに村する概念の育成と、マルチメディア教材のコンテンツのあり方を検討するために、実証的に評価分析を行った。具体的なマルチメディア教材に接することから肯定的な態度が育成されること、マルチメディア教材では操作性や相互作用性を保証することがポイントであること、および映像だけでなく音声情報の重要なポイントを持っていることが明らかになった
