    Strategic Responses for Unplanned Events

The paper addresses the question, “Can dynamic, effective response plans be made for stakeholders of a manufacturing line dealing with unplanned events at a manufacturing line, irrespective of an individual’s unique subject matter expertise? Prior research in manufacturing-related environments has indicated the existence of a high frequency of unplanned events. When not responded to efficiently, they can result in reduced financial efficiency and employee overwhelm. Through collection and analysis of interviews conducted with stakeholders in the manufacturing environment, a possible means of efficiently addressing unplanned events can be found or synthesized to help stakeholders navigate uncertainty in the manufacturing environment with less overwhelm and greater confidence

Agile project management in virtual software development teams: challenges, benefits, and implementation

In this research paper, the subject at hand is Agile Project Management and how it is being implemented in virtual teams that develop software. Central to the discussion are the difficulties one faces and the benefits one gains when Agile Project Management is implemented in a virtual team. The study is driven by the growing prevalence of remote work in the IT industry and the need for robust project management frameworks that can adapt to virtual environments. By conducting an extensive review of the literature and several case studies, this study determines key barriers, such as communication, difference in time zone, and self-management versus supervision balance. The result of the study reveals benefits of Agile methodologies preponderantly in exigency, flexibility, nimbleness, visibility, and trust of stakeholders. Furthermore, the research contributes with lessons learned in the effort of tailoring Agile practices to remote settings, pointing out the importance of having structured communication plans, regular virtual meetings and available digitals tools, specifically those that have been used for Project Management. Finally, the research also stated that besides remote working becoming an increasingly essential component of the organizational structure, it also affects the recruitment and acquisition of talented professionals, hence an outtake of the research is to understand how Agile Project Management dynamics should be implemented and further studied. This study adds to the current literature by expanding our understanding of how Agile methodologies might be implemented productively in virtual software growth settings, thus improving team performance as well as project results

    Entwined Derelict

Entwined Derelict was my first delve into the Twine interactive fiction engine, and the second game that I consider feature complete . While a significant focus was put on learning the engine as a whole, particular effort for me was put into a sidebar journal of sorts, that took narrative flags from the game and recorded the events in a way that allows players to read back what they have experienced in-game at their leisure. While I greatly enjoyed making the game, and I do consider it a complete experience with some unique pieces within, it is a short adventure without a strong sense of achievement. These flaws are mostly due to it being an early foray into design for me, and it being made on a tight, two-week deadline- for instance, much of the latter half of the story was condensed and abbreviated, with some parts (including a better explanation of the anomaly ) being cut for time. I feel a better handle on scope early on, a bit of a more focused outline, and a more lengthy deadline would iron out most of these quibbles

Antibiotic resistance is a topic that is of growing concern in the field of medicine. Antibiotics act as growth blockers or act as toxins, killing the organism they affect. These biological weapons generate selective pressure leading to the current antibiotic crisis. This selective pressure causes resistant organisms to begin to emerge and over generations antibiotic resistance can develop and be spread among a bacterial population. One of the key factors contributing to antibiotic resistance in bacteria is the ability for some bacteria to form and shield themselves within biofilms. Biofilms are masses of bacteria protected by a polysaccharide/ extracellular DNA matrix, can help prevent the penetration of antibiotics to the cells within and can unknowingly lead to lingering, viable cells that can cause further infections. Biofilms can adhere to surfaces in hospitals and can become resistant to even the harshest disinfectants. In hospitals nosocomial infections can lead to chronic illnesses and can be pointed towards surfaces contaminated with biofilms that resist antibiotics as well as disinfectant

Combining Project Management Methods For Faster Software Delivery

The impact of the hybrid project management technique combined with lean principles in software organization is the main topic of the proposed thesis. The instability inherent in software projects has led to the rise in popularity of the agile approach. However, according to specialists in project management, an agile approach alone won\u27t guarantee a project\u27s success. When executing software projects, almost all project managers combine the agile approach with the waterfall methodology. Nevertheless, a number of investigations discovered that the hybrid strategy is frequently not failsafe. In this field of study, combining lean and hybrid project management is a topic worth investigating. My proposed study will concentrate on it to see if it is possible to lessen the cause of project failures
